Wow, what a walk through memories lane. That was more than 40 years ago since I've been to Bukit Bintang. Heaps of gratitude Elmo, you've made so many people like myself shed a few tears on the good old days. Keep up with the good work, regards.

Lot 10 used to be an outdoor market. My mother started selling chillies at that market in the 70s, then bananas before she set up a fruit stall outside of Goh Clinic. Back then it was BB Park across our stall and I remember the cast of Empat Sekawan used to visit our stalls. There was a famous Chow Kwai Teow stall next to Klinic Goh and I used to shell the see-hum for 20 cents a bucket. This was while I was in Primary School (Pasar Rd Primary). I would then use the 20 cents to buy a bowl of laksa noodle with two chicken feet. Yummy.

Hutong @ Bukit Bintang - I would have to say that every food stall visited has its own glory and it’s distinct historical great food. Yatt Lau & Mou Tak Deng 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. Can’t help but say that the winner for this 1st BB episode goes to Soo Kee - maintaining its tradition and preserving the family heritage of a great beef noodles WTH and Fresh river prawn noodle. Thank you Elmo ( and Danny ) for this 1st part great episode and looking forward to the 2nd part. Also - vinyl always bring back memories of those great songs from that era played on a good turntable and speakers. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Elmo, thanks for the video. I feel really nostalgic after watching it. I have grown up in that area till I was in my twenties. Although I have left the area more than 4 decades, I still have fond memories of it. I also did not expect its tremendous transformation. Good job, Elmo. Keep it up.

When it comes to Char kueh Tiau...I kena so many bad ones/inferior in Penang. Easily more than 8 stalls in Penang island are really disappointing. Penang food standard is no longer good since more than 20 years ago and has gone down the drains. The best street food in Malaysia is now in Klang Valley, so this episode further cemented this.

EL : back in the day , I used to frequent Jalan Imbi because an extremely close friend and family lived in Jalan Khoo Teck Puat . I also remember the night life of the BB neighbourhood - paying for a dance partner 😂😂😂 . Question for you , is there a government body or neighborhood historical society that may have information on previous families that lived in the area 🤔 cheers and have a good weekend 😂😂😂

food stalls there in Hutong used to be good 10 years ago, sadly most of them have dropped in quality as time passes and no longer command the signature taste of their founding stalls.
@linustw Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Food there is just very average. Can curb your tastebud but never very good. Almost all are prepared and cooked by burmese and not very generous serving for its price. Maybe a trip to top of sungai wang foodcourt could be a better choice?

I think my comment may be a bit biased because this episode has landed on the area I am most comfortable with when I visit, and features my absolute favourite one-stop shop eatery (I have yet to make it to ICC Pudu despite vowing to do so 🤭🤥). Love love Hutong (and its user-friendly aircon!). And, of course, packed with pics of all the usual historic and nostalgic goodies eg. Cathaty cinema; the dancing ladies of whom I only read about in Lat's Kampung Boy! Onto Episode 2! (and then I'll gostan back to Jalan Alor episode😁)
