In the 1960's hippies were everywhere. Being a hippy was glorified in films, TV, fashion and music. You had real hippies and people who pretended to be hippies. As time went on, and reality set in that utopia was not going to happen overnight, hippies got jobs, cut their hair and gave up their bell bottoms and weed. Many become yuppies in the 1980's. All of this LGBT stuff, fat acceptance and other weird fringe stuff that people are into - "Hey' I'm a cat today!" will pass away. 15 years from now, some will still be living that life but most of them will lose the weight, stop dyeing their hair green and get all the piercings and tattoos removed. I saw it in Denver with all the people who had removed the trendy gauge earrings. The real question is, who are you underneath all these ideas identities and oppressed groups? You are probably a confused human being trying to figure it out. We all do in some way. The real problem is when you try to make your distorted reality the norm and force it onto other people. It's a strange time in a strange world.

Looking at the graph, we notice that the LGBT identification percentage for people Gen X, Boomers and traditionalists has NOT changed over the years. So where do all those new LGBT identifications for Millenials and Gen Z come from? It is a new phenomenon, not something that is innate.

I'm willing to bet that in the Millenial category it's primarily the youngest of them identifying. Which would mean there is a cut-off where the rise begins and it's not at a generation. I'm an older Millenial and there is a definite difference between older and younger Millenials. The older of us grew up with the ONSET of technology, while the youngest grew up steeped in it and know nothing else. That's why they share traits with Gen Z and later.

That graph is WHY we're told we have to transition kids or they'll end themselves - they're being told in school - and even in the home when they're four years old - that they were born in the wrong body - really THINK about that. Imagine someone just told you, a child, that you were literally born in the wrong body... puberty resolves 82% of Gender Dysphoria all by itself, and given only 1% of the population has GD... what problem are we trying to solve here? That graph says 20% of our children will be miserable for the rest of their lives :( They're MAD when they realise that almost nobody is capable of being attracted to them, it's the tragic reality of bottom surgery. Just let them pass puberty and we'll be good.

As I heard someone say we only discovered Pluto in 1930 but we can be sure it was there the whole time. Bear in mind that here in England and Wales homosexuality was illegal until 1967. The change in Scotland was 1981 and in Northern Ireland it was 1982. Prejudice laws and attitudes suppressed sexual variation so now as antagonism to such variations has reduced people feel comfortable being more open. And how can that be a bad thing?

It's about status. Because of intersectionality et al. the more minority demographics you can claim, the more status you get. To be gay, all you have to say you're gay and poof status. It is a very big motivator. I worked for a mobile telco for quite some time. For a few years, Blackberry ruled the roost. People would buy the phone, get the per megabyte plan, and turn off the data. They were paying literally hundreds of dollars more for a phone they didn't need when a much cheaper phone was more appropriate, all for the privilege of being seen in public with a Blackberry to their ear. Once oppression politics runs its course and the status fades, the percentages will come down because the motivation will disappear.

I'm wondering why they can't just give kids hormones to make them feel more like the s e x they were born as. I never felt like I wanted children (always the tomboy). After I accidentally became pregnant (lost the baby unfortunately) I felt like a different person. Suddenly I was interested in children and my job. I'm thinking it might just be hormone imbalances in young people and they just need a chemical nudge in the right direction.

Today alot of citizens in the USA create false narratives or identities based around either their childhood or adult trauma. In which case contributes to the sudden rise of the LGBTQ+ community today. Other countries throughout the world have LGBTQ communities but it's not as abundant as the USA. More like pockets so to speak. Question is why?? It's alot of unresolved trauma. Nothing wrong with being gay or a lesbian but unresolved trauma is wrong. Plus with the unresolved trauma people become uncomfortable in their own skin. Example the whole transgender community. Now unresolved trauma affects people in many different ways and it's not always the case of them being or choosing to be gay/lesbian. Here in Atlanta Georgia, a lot of men, particularly African-American, experience child molestation, or sexual assault as an adult. I learned this from talking to professionals who deal with young boys and men who experienced these traumatic events. And a lot of them end up being gay from these traumatic experiences.

@tajaniscott I'm not doubting that some people may be "identifying" because it is the trendy/cool thing to do right now but you'd have to show me the study of people who would willingly choose to label themselves with something that receives such a stigma and judgement no matter social acceptance. I don't believe for a minute that 20% of the population is gay. Also there is no massive killing of LGBT people and we have moved into a much more accepting country. It's not perfect but most people don't care who you sleep. People should be free to express themselves but not to the point of a 400lb woman suing an airline because she can't fit in aisle or her seat. It's absurd. Constantly crying about oppression gets old if it is not based in reality. Meanwhile, we have millions of homeless people - many who are working - and people struggling financially in this country due to real factors but they are not oppressed? It's a screwed up time. And sad. There is too much mental illness and we are not really addressing it as best as we could.
