The problem I have with Myron argument here is when he says something along the lines of my girl should stay home but I can do whatever I want. I don't think he's being fair or is arguing in good faith. If he has all these criteria and the woman meets it and all she wants him to be faithful, then it's only a fair ask and if he can't hold his end of the bargain, then he doesn't deserve the type of girl he's "advocating" for. Some good points made here. But the real problem. The basic root cause to this issue of marriage having become meaningless, is hookup culture. Twenty-somethings act like middle school kids who are acting out what they *think* grownups do (getting drunk, dancing around, flirting with anything in sight and putting out for social score). Then they act surprised when they don't get the mythical "perfect" marriage. They don't even know the person they married, because both of you were pretending to be someone else when you hooked up. Surprise! Striving to be a better person begins with you. Stop looking around for somebody you can act like. Find the best in you and cultivate that. Stop feeding the beast (your feelings, emotions, ego and vanity) and feed your mind with good quality fuel. Make yourself the person you wish you could have looked up to when you were 8, 10, 13, 16. Don't settle for mediocrity in yourself. Rise above. Become respectable.

The real problem, as far as I see it, is there are no consequences for women who make poor, irresponsible, risky decisions, because divorce, family courts, and a host of support groups, and resource centers, are at their fingertips and at their immediate disposal. In this day and age, women can afford to make serious lapses in judgement, because the State sends in the Calvary to rescue them. During the days when my grandmother was a maiden, a young man was expected to court a young lady, and jump through a myriad of hoops to make sure it was a good match, because no fault divorce had yet to rear its ugly head, whereas modern girls can jump into bed with every Tom, Dick, and Harry, and everyone is expected to applaud her irresponsibility and pay for her mistakes.

pre-nups are far from a guarantee. Courts can consider it but they can be ignored if the court thinks its unfair. Caveat that this likely changes from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but I'm yet to hear of any jurisdiction where a pre-nup is de-facto the final word on spousal support, child support, division of assets etc. Good to have, but not full protection.

We got robbed straight up she purposely offered to take care of my uncle at his last stages of his cancer moved him into her home forwarded all his mail to her house took every document from his house I mean the level of scum my uncles ex wife went to I mean wow it was all theft as far as I’m concerned I’m against marriage because of how just unfair it is no it’s nothing I want any part of it’s such a shame there’s more bullshit based relationships then real love. Being a floozy is an evolutionary dead end, in the long run. And you don’t need an ancient magic book or the belief in an invisible space wizard to figure that out. There is a perfectly valid natural explanation based on reason and evidence, which should suffice for any rational, critically thinking individual.
