I loved Zul'Drak. You have this once powerful empire falling prey to despair as the scourge encroaches on them and captures their principal stronghold of Drak'tharon. How they sacrificed their gods in a desperate measure to combat the undead and eventually, they ended up falling. It was great Blizzard remembered them and not only had you fight the last forces of the Drakkari in the throne of thunder, but you see the last of them sitting in Zuldazar during battle for Azeroth. And he actually says the Drakkari became extinct.

A tragic fate. Wish they could do more with the Drakkari tribe instead of just going through the extinction path.

It would've been better if perhaps we could have aided the Drakkari in some way...they'd start out maybe hostile and paranoid...i mean jeez...living next to SO many Undead Strongholds as the Lich King gained more and more power and ground...we helped effectively made a entire ancient species extinct (Or Endangered)...that doesn't make me feel good...Trolls were effectivly turned into a pseudo-meme.(Whens the next troll dungeon? Also the recent BFA lore made the Zandarlari betray one of their biggest tenants...making their cousins effectivly peons to the Horde)..but if you really take a step back and think...we pretty much did THE WORST possible thing as a third party...it's true some of the Ice trolls, joined Arthus...but many others tried to flee or fight back..."The enemy of my enemy is my friend" a common goal in mind...an entire species doesn't reflect them all...but Blizz struggled and then fumbled to bring a story line that could bring relations to them and even allys...instead "A slaughter..." is what we got...of 4 major tribes...entire citys wiped out...

"Look around, and let the devastation sink in. Every last troll that lived here is either dead or has fled to the upper levels. It gets worse. In an act of desperation, the living drakkari trolls sacrificed their own animal gods so they could drink the blood of the gods and gain untold power. While they succeeded in keeping the scourge at bay, with their newfound strength, the results were catastrophic. The ancient empire of Zuldrak lies in ruin as proof." -Crusader Lord Latinga.

My favorite Northrend zone. I do like the music and feel of Grizzly Hills as well, and believe it or not, Borean Tundra too. But Zul'Drak is just too good. The music, the ascending levels of the zone, the Ebon Blade, Drakuru, Argent Crusade and Zandalari quests, as well as the cool arena ones. Investigating what happened to the loa and helping them exact their revenge, all while witnessing the slow downfall of the Drakkari tribe. As well as going into Drak'Tharon Keep and Gun'Drak to deal with them. It might have been a bit gloomy and all the running around daunting, but in the end, I loved everything about this zone. Knowing that those were the final hours of the once mighty Drakkari empire, the whole zone delivered that uneasy atmosphere perfectly.

I always loved the apocalyptic feel of this zone. The cloud-streaked sky with ominous light behind it, and the slow, plodding death march of a sound track. It gives the impression that what the Drakkari are doing is causing the end of the world (theirs at least).

It's very jarring to see a straight up titan of death...marching inside a war-like culture of a city...also that name "Thrym" references a frost giant warlord from Norse Mythology...a notable jötunn who stole Thor's hammer, not sure about the correlation but maybe with that title "Hope Ender" he stole a metaphorical "Hammer" of power, of authority...and by extension...the ice trolls hope of survival...

I sympathize with drakkari trolls, they've lost everything - their loa, their fruitful land in the 1st tier of zul'drak. They've lost their families. They've lost their government, but the worst of all this - they've lost hope. And now zul'drak is empty. This civilization was destroyed by scourge, Argent crusade and greedy heroes. I am really sympathizing with drakkari trolls😢
@the_furry_inside_your_walls6393 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't have been destroyed by the Argent Crusaders and heroes if the Drakkari hadn't acted so violently towards them. The Argent were there to fight Scourge, not wage war against trolls. If the Drakkari cared enough about their own survival, they would have realized that and instead help the Argent drive the Scourge away from their land. But no, instead the Drakkari chose to be power hungry and arrogant. They thought they could fight a war on all fronts, and paid dearly for it. They chose the wrong enemies, and they lost their loa to their own greed and lust for power. The woes of the Drakkari were on them, not the Argent or the heroes of Azeroth. When someone comes to your land to provide only help against a greater threat, you don't spit in their face and bite the hand they reach out, 'less you want more enemies. The Drakkari should have learned from the Darkspear Trolls. Choose your allies, don't fight them.
@chsgrate53623 жыл бұрын
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 I dont quite remember warcraft lore,since its so big. I do remember though when trolls actually united to preserve their glory as a united ethnos,and only darkspear/horde allied trolls refused. I dont think it makes them better ar all. Plus the civilization of drakkari trolls have been fighting scourge and other creatures for years and probably developed a bunker mentality,so i dont think they would ally with some weirdos and newcomers,who looks more fresh on the face but still. I hated that the narrative changed to praising players for achieving something and basically making them rule the story,instead of actually lore prominent characters.I feel bad for them.
@the_furry_inside_your_walls6393 жыл бұрын
@@chsgrate5362 I'm saying is that the Drakkari brought it upon themselves. The Argent and Ebon weren't "invading". They merely set up base to fight against the Scourge, and the Drakkari did one of the most taboo things in troll society: killing their loa's. Much like the Gurubashi trolls, the Drakkari showed disrespect and hostility towards their loa's in an attempt to gain power from them, and in the end it only led to their downfall. In the end, there was no loa to help them, because they had either killed or driven off the ones who were willing to help them. The most tragic of troll tribes would have to be the Amani, since they not only lost their homeland to invaders, but also their loa and thousands of their own warriors. In the end, the Amani were forced to, much like the Gurubashi, to find shelter and asylum under the Zandalari empire, and are now essentially treated as punching bags by the Horde whenever the Zandalari allow it.
