@@thestormkage He ended the war by his duel with Fortissax. Gransax seems to have started the assault on Leyndell. For what reason? I reckon it has to do with the Elden Beast, Greater Will, Dragonlord Placidusax’ God leaving and other things. Edit: It might have something to do with the Elden Beast landing in the Lands Between, when it was traveling (read the description of Elden Stars). So it might have fucked up Farum Azula, and landed in the Lands Between. Edit: Forgot to mention, that Faram Azula could have also been damaged by Astel, considering reason the Ruin’s Greatsword. @@TheStraightestWhitest It was a bit lacking in context, I mean Maliketh set up shop in Farum Azula after getting the order to guard the rune of death. Whether he preceded the golden order or originate from Farum Azula wasn't my point. Also it actually make more sense why the dragons would attack if Maliketh who is from Farum Azula come back spreading the ideology of another god and actually harbor a rune that can kill them. The dragons properly see that as an act of invasion and corruption. Or maybe that was the plan all along, Maliketh actually come back to invade Farum Azula using his beastmen, but halfway through the runes got stolen so he bound it to his blade and hold up in the sanctuary and Gransax fly down to Lydenll as retribution. That my version of the events so far.

People are wondering how how Grannsax was defeated, but it’s not too far fetched when you think about it. They’ve got those giant perfume arrows from the trailer, Tree Sentinels used greatbows, and the Crucible Knights have access to a variety of crucible incantations, plus you have the demigods themselves. I can imagine them laying on Grannsax with their artillery, maybe some incantations being casted as well, while the Crucible Knights fly around and help split attention with the rest of the army.

honestly, the fact that Gransax in his size was only able to breach the wall and destroy a couple of buildings means he was taken out fairly quickly. a testament to all who fought him. I assume most of the demigods showed little mercy on gransax and put a stop to that shit expeditiously. I imagine it was Godfrey, Marika, Godwyn and all the of Lyndell Army that went all out on Grandax.. that being said, there are no visible wounds present on gransax. so it does lead me to question how it was done, and so quickly at that. divine intervention of the greater will?

What about petrification? The guy is a statue now after all. My guess would be that the Greater Will intervened with the assault because Gransax looks completely unharmed aside from the fact that his eyeballs are missing but that might not be because of lore reasons. We already know that the Greater Will possesses enough strength to intervene directly so that is probably what it did, especially considering the tarnished can just walk through Leyndell through all the enemies including Godfrey and Morgott. So my guess would be since they can't fend off a simple maidenless tarnished of no renown, that it was literal divine intervention like you mentioned. And sure the Elden Beast also got bodied by the tarnished but the Elden Beast isn't the Greater Will, instead being a mere vassal of it so you can imagine how obscenely powerful this deity must have been if even the Elden Beast was below it.

If Gransax is ever revived via time travel DLC, his boss fight needs to be like something out of Shadow of the Colossus, or the Dracolich in the first Castlevania Lords of Shadow. Something that huge can't just be used as a really big dragon boss, he needs to be like an entire stage. Of course, platforming and ledge grappling mechanics aren't exactly Elden Ring's strong suits. But if making Gransax's body traversible won't work, at the very least we need something like the Saviour boss battle from DMC 4 (the proper boss battle, not the set piece at the end where you one shot a gigantic old man.)

Just here to remind everyone that if I'm interpreting the Remembrance's item description correctly, Placidusax is waiting for a dragon even greater than he; the Dragonlord awaits the return of the Dragon God, and not the one Zullie was talking about. This Dragon God might not be as big as Gransax, but there's also the possibility that he utterly *dwarfs* Gransax, and he *is* much more powerful than Placidusax, and if he's more powerful than someone who lives outside of time and can stop the ost... Let's just say that I really, really hope I'm right about this.

As much as I like the representations of dragons in a lot of games, this is one of the few that comes close to how I, in my brain, have always imagined their size. Sidenote, when I die I want my well preserved body body to stretch across the wall and preferably castle/palace (rather than a few buildings) of my enemy's city to leave future generations awestruck and intimidated. It's such a flex.

In regards to feasibility, Greyoll seems to have originally planned to be a proper boss, having movement animations and everything, bu actually activating her AI causes the game to keep over on itself and crash. This could be potentially resolved with some optimization, but Greyoll seems to mark a hard upper limit of what Elden Ring's engine can handle.

It's probably not possible to measure, since it's a background feature, but the massive dragon on the mountain at Archdragon Peak in DS3 also really puts into perspective just how insane it was for anyone to fight(and win) against those ancient dragons, even the gods. I didn't even realize it was a dragon on my first playthrough. To then go to Leyndell and use a section of one wing of Gransax as a ramp really just rams that same point home again.

I half wish we’ll get Gransax as a boss in a DLC if we get one that sends us back in time to the War of the Ancient Dragons. But I don’t know how you’d even fight him aside from a gimmick boss similar to Dragon God, and I don’t know how I feel about that. Then again, From has proven they can make good gimmick bosses now. I love Divine Dragon as well as Rennala and Rykard. I like Yhorm too, but only when I don’t use the Storm Ruler, which just removes his gimmick, so even if he’s a good regular fight, he’s a mediocre gimmick boss. Edit: I suppose you could call Mohg a gimmick boss, too, but aside from Bloodboon Ritual, he’s a pretty normal (though hard) fight. I still love him too, though.

An interesting trait that I've noticed with humans is that taller people seem to have proportionally longer limbs. Like, look at Peter DInklage and Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt is all limbs compared to Peter. If a similar situation were to hold true for how From builds their dragons, having a 9x skull size would likely result in an even larger dragon than estimated here due to the increased leg/tail length.
@Case_
@Case_ 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. People are proportionally more or less the same, regardless of height. Chamberlain has normal proportions, he's just fairly lanky, so it visually accentuates his limbs. And while Dinklage certainly has disproportionately shorter limbs, that's what dwarfism (the most common form, anyway) means - people affected by this condition have normal size bodies, but disproportionate limbs.
@onda_dr_quinn3942
@onda_dr_quinn3942 2 жыл бұрын
@@Case_ I mean, I have never seen a short person having long limbs, as well as an absolutely massive person having short limbs. Peter was a bad example giving he has dwarfism, but look at people in the 4’11 -5’5 range, all have relatively short limbs compared to the rest of their bodies. Which is why it’s easier for short people to look shredded compared to tall people, they just have shorter limbs compared to their bodies.
@Case_
@Case_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@onda_dr_quinn3942 No, they really don't. People have more or less the same limbs when it comes to proportional length to their bodies (for example the arm span is generally close to person's height). There are variations based on various factors, but not to a significant degree. What does differ is how the limbs appear visually, both alone and also in the context of the whole body. But that's just a matter of perception, not of actual length/proportion. For example, compare the already mentioned Wilt Chamberlain with someone like Kevin Hart. If you look at the proportional length of their limbs, it's more or less the same. And yet Chamberlain is 7' 1" (216 cm), while Hart is 5' 2" (158 cm). Chamberlain just appears a bit more lanky due to his general body type, so it gives the impression his limbs are noticeably longer proportional to his body. But they're not. Another good example (IMO) is Danny Trejo. From his appearances on screen, you'd get the impression he's pretty tall and intimidating. And yet he's only 5' 6" (168 cm) tall.
@pondrthis1
@pondrthis1 2 жыл бұрын
@@Case_ I'd take an even stronger position than Case here and say that heavier animals are actually *stockier* than lighter animals. When your weight passes a certain threshold--around that of horses and moose on Earth--falls become dangerous to your bones. So these creatures evolve to be relatively shorter and stockier, with more stable limbs and gaits. The dragon would move slowly and deliberately, and probably have a squat, wide stance with a highly exposed belly when on the ground. Of course, dragons famously couldn't fly and obey physical laws anyway, so this is a moot point.

I still think that the “Archdragon” used for comparison in this video is wrong. That unused enemy looks so small compared to that giant dragon we see on a mountain… from FAR AWAY! At least we managed to walk on Lenydel’s dragon wing. And dare I say, the experience of 1 minute climbing a dragon is probably shorter than whatever that monstrosity of a “Mountain Dragon” would have been to explore. But anyway. Lore wise, nothing can stand up to the pre-nerf Maliketh. And he can one shot anything as long as it has a soul no matter how big it is. The reason being that Marika plucked a rune of Death from the Elden Ring and gave it to Maliketh. Rune of death is the concept of death itself, and it is the most powerful weapon in Elden Ring's lore. It is probably the only thing capable of killing gods and immortal beings by simply make them die regardless of their power level. Think of it like how Death Note work. Sadly, parts of the rune were broken and stolen by Black Knife assassins. Rendering the rune's power incomplete. Neither the portion used by present Maliketh nor the portion used by the assassins are as powerful as the undivided rune of Death.
