Just remember this isn’t an axe, it’s a shovel. It’s a “survival shovel.” Keep this in your truck or car in case of an emergency or take it out camping instead of toting up tons of gear. When this is broken down it takes way less space then a shovel, axe, knife, etc. and if you need to get out quick it’s a better edc than trying to grab a bunch of separate things. You have to appreciate how bad he beat the thing up and it didn’t break. It functioned exactly as it claims it would. Very impressive tool.

Awesome review and test video! I got a similar survival shovel from eBay for $25CAD. The threads coming loose while chopping is a minor flaw/negative. The only thing I didn't like about mine is the bottle open is too wide to work. Thanks for taking us into the wilderness and showing it in action. There's nothing worse than people talking about how awesome a knife is then they slice a piece of paper or cut veggies. Keep up the great work brother!
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree man survival knives or not for fucking cutting tomatoes lol. If it can't be taken out of the woods and have its ass kicked I don't want it. This particular shovel as a single cast head which I guess is different from the rest. I can tell you the head is very heavy and no freaking joke. They are talking about remedying the head-turning. I suggested some kind of locking mechanism. But actually as I work with it more I tend to do that less. It's not an ax and you kind of have to figure out how to chop with it I'm learning. I have plans to go camp out with it in the snow and use it to help build my shelter and stuff. But my schedule has been killing me lately. Thanks for checking it out Kirk much appreciated man.

@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman4 жыл бұрын
Cheap gear ain't good and good gear ain't cheap. Tell you the truth I wasn't overly impressed with lars's review. Tools tend to be a lot more impressive when you actually use them. I'm sure he'd be a lot happier with a Russian product. I simply gave the tool and honest go. I refuse to let other people's opinions or biases affect my judgment. A person can get them self a cold steel shovel or something similar very cheap. They will perform a couple of the tasks this performs but not all of them. the added leverage of the extension handles and the pick head is absolutely to die for I think. also the storage in the handles is awesome and several of the tools are greatly useful inside of the handles. Nice thing about my product reviews, I'm My own man and no one owns me! hope you're having a great week Paul 😉

I had a question on this shovel as I was looking to purchase one. First do you recommend this or a different shovel for similar functionality? My main question is... I have heard when using the shovel as an axe it has a tendency to twist the head. since it screws on. Did you find this is the case at all or did it seem to stay relatively stationary?
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman3 жыл бұрын

I believe they have their Amazon Link in my description. I do not get a percentage or anything. Happy to promote a solid product I have been having a lot of fun with mine! It's in the truck every day. I commented on their KZbin channel and they sent me one to review.
@@zunelotoo4938 hey guys hope you like the review I would certainly appreciate you supporting the channel by commenting in the section with an actual comment. Also I see Kimber Bushcraft had his review posted on your KZbin channel. I'm sure he appreciated the support as would I.

Shasta valley outdoorsman I was just wondering how much this would cost to buy as I'm only 13 and don't have much money
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman4 жыл бұрын
Well buddy these are kind of spendy. I think they are around a couple hundred bucks. but don't be discouraged there are lots of other things you can use if that is outside of your price range as a Young Man. if you watch my videos I often show how to go camping and have adventures on a very low budget bud😉. Sometimes making some of your own gear is the most rewarding experience.

Hey, I’m looking for a good survival/camping shovel. But here’s the thing. I want a shovel that does NOT have like twist on handle attachments because I feel like that decreases strength. I want one that can be sharp and used as a bit of an axe and saw. That’s it. A shovel with a sharp edge that I can carry around that is good sized and doesn’t have any of the useless attachments. Pleas help
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman4 жыл бұрын
Well my friend this is the only survival ,camping shovel I own. I'm afraid I cannot tell you the benefits of another. as for a saw I would recommend you go to the hardware store and just get yourself a nice pruning saw. You can get a good folding pruning saw for around 25$.

Our shovel blade can be sharp, we can not sharp ourselves for government policy, if you want to sharp it , no problem at all.

An axe would serve you better for less $ & you can get all the other items for less $ as well & better quality at that as you’ll get to build your kit yourself. This device does not handle cutting well and the shock from chopping is unpleasant.
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
You dig a lot of holes with axes? You realize this is a shovel right? I bet if you looked into it you'd find out I have dozens of axes...
@Shastavalleyoutdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
First of all this device does not cut it chops. I'm not sure why you're trying to describe to me how it feels when it chops. Considering I am the one testing tool? What you're saying is not true it chops fine and the shock is minimal.
