The more I watch this fucking video the more I genuinely am starting to believe John's father was murdered by Francis in order for him not to payout his Zurich policy. John is 38, his father would be, with a reasonable estimate, be reaching retirement age, lots of people would have kids at around the age of 27 or 28, making Johns father around the age of 65. Francis sells predatory policies that he uses to fund his lifestyle. But now all the policies he sold as a young man are being collected on, he had to do something. Francis invites John and his father on a mountain vacation. He tries to convince John's father to extend his policy into his 70s so he has more time but John's father won't budge, then the assault in the hotel he references in the shower happens when Francis takes a swing at Johns father. Francis has to do something so he goes with John's father up to the north face and pushes him off. Can't collect once you're dead. Why else would Francis be the emergency contact for John's father? Obviously they came up to this resort together and are close friends. Now Francis in his mentally broken state after killing his best friend begins to spiral downward. Popcorn being eaten isn't equivalent to the death of John's father, but in Francis' guilt filled mind it is. Everything he does to John is another blow, in his mind, against him. John begins to fear for his safety. During the funeral he does his powerpoint trying to sell more Zurich, what kind of a person does that? A mentally broken person.
