Birds of Paradise Goblin Anarchomancer Dockside Extortionist would all allow to cast Omnath Oracle of Mul Daya would be a good value engine and possibly allow to cast Omnath and maybe have some land triggers. Purphoros didn't seem to do much.

As a Zurzoth player I often see how opponents act emotionally towards the random discard and get blinded to threat assesment,the fear of losing a removal spell despite having a full grip of cards just seems to provoke a response

I only run it in decks where I want to cast multiple 60-160+ Mana spells. Still giving blue black and green a high tide can be an issue one needs to keep in mind.

As a Zurzoth player, I don't get this either. I used to only have Swiftfoot Boots in the deck, but he eats so much removal that i've added Lightning Greaves and Deflecting Swat and cards like it to help him stay alive. At best, he makes three 1/1s a turn cycle and after 4 or 5 turns you throw down cards like Torbran and Fiery Emancipation, but it's slow. I will say this, those little devils are very effective at getting people to not attack you, especially if their creatures don't have trample.

That Runo deck needs more top deck manipulation. If it wasn't for that Demonstrate Regrowth, he was just taking up space.

And I'm flabbergasted at how someone let a Runo deck have that Demonstrate effect without a deal of the century. Still, it's true that Runo needs early fatties to GY or top-deck manipulation to really work, even with a lot of fatties. Hell, it's one of the few decks I don't mind seeing a Sensei's in.

The threat assessment in this game was so bizarre. Zurzoth did not need so much removal pointed at it. It's a mono-Red devil tribal deck, and wasn't doing anything so impactful as to need so much removal headed it's direction.

i felt bad for jesse and zurzoth. honestly everyone was getting card draw with the con of discarding randomly but thats good value. meanwhile theres 2 deck that focuses more on big creatures which is a bigger threat that devilt that deal 1 damage when it dies.

Purphoros was the real threat. Never let that card stay out too long it can just take over entire games very quickly

It is. There's only one card I know of that can actually prevent landfall triggers (strict proctor). Otherwise you can't interact with it at all. It's kind of aggravating, honestly.

It really isn't overpowered at all. People just don't play enough interaction to deal with it and typically ignore them because they don't have threats on board. Any decently built deck should handle a landfall deck more often than not.

The thing that makes Valakut Awakening so broken is you can play it from your graveyard with Crucible of Worlds and then bounce it back to your hand with with a bounce land or Mina and Deb, or Living Twister. Then just recast it over and over until you get the cards you want.

When the Scapeshift resolved and Dom lost most of his life, there was a window before his other triggers resolved that Jesse could have killed Dom by sacrificing seven devils, saving himself and the table.

Dom might have popped off a bit sooner if he found a ramunap excavator instead of purphoros. That would have also made him the big threat, so he probably made the right decision

IMHO, OG Purphoros is often a more immediately threat generating card than a crucible in people's minds. But a crucible is dangerous, though, in that you're completely right.

Tons of removal on that devil and none on azusa, plus casting that enchantment that doubles the amount of mana just enabled omnath to hit the table. They were asking to get punched, and they were.

In my opinion Dom was never behind long, I do the same things where I fein being behind longer than I am, I just choose not to play cards. It lets others play out their removal, it's a risk in that you can be killed out of nowhere, such as in the cratterhoof case, but hey all rewards have some risk

Yooooo!! Zurzoth is one of my favorite decks! The only differences I saw with Jesse's Zurzoth, is that he runs Mana flare, the ankh and Valakut. My Zurzoth deck does a bit of everything. It swings at everyone, players draw and more.

Lessons of the day: 1. don’t play universal mana doublers unless you win the game on the same turn, 2. kill the player with a purphoros since turn 4. He is a finisher just like beastmaster ascension, not a setup card.

Sometimes Runo pops off early and sometimes not, but it’s pretty damn sweet when you get it going. There are a also games like this one though, sweet game all around, the angry jellybean did its thing so good, the Devils were also pretty cool.
