This was such an interesting comparison and honestly I didn't expect Zv-E10 to hold up that well and surprisingly I found it's colors to be more pleasing on your face and skin tones at first! Till you tried sigma on both in studio and that yellow tint on your face gone away! Am I wrong? Only you can tell which image represent your own face colour better. But at the end I think the more pleasing is kindda better even if it's not 100% accurate right? I just can't understand how a lens can affect the color science this much as I see the blue in the background is almost unchanged to my eyes! Excellent work! Thanks for your effort

I actually migrated from an a6600 to an FX3 and 24mm GM 😄 I wanted 4k60 (Sony will always paywall that). But honestly aside from some of the full frame niceties the FX brings, the APSC combo was 90 percent of the quality at a minuscule percentage of the price. The value the sigma brings to the APSC bodies can’t be understated. I still have a ZV-E10 and Sig 16 on the shelf for when I don’t feel like walking around with the value of a used Honda Civic in my hands. The FX is named Sweetheart, by the way 🥰

Brilliant Mark. I could barely see the difference between the two in this setting. Negligible at best. I have a Sony A7, the first of the full frame mirrorless cameras from Sony. Both my A7 and my ZV E10 are 24mp. Indoors, in a studio setting, the ZVE10 is far more suited. However, that larger sensor of the A7 makes for a sharper more detailed image in landscape photography, even though they are both 24mp. Regardless, the ZVE10 wins out on portability for my kind of outdoor, often hiking photography, so it's my all round go to camera these days (wish it had an EVF though). I took my A7 on a 300km hike across England pre-Covid. Because of its size I seldom took it out of my backpack. Too much hassle when you have to walk about 30+ km a day, scrambling and walking for hours in terrain where you have to watch every step. I ended up taking most photos with my smartphone. If I had the ZVE10 at that time it would have fit in my pocket or in a bun bag. Thanks for this Mark!

The a7c. is still great - and overall a better camera tan the a6600 and zv-e10. The focal length for your studio matters less than the aperture. But if you got the A7C and the Sony 35 1.8 - it would get you a good shallow depth of field. The Sigma 16mm, linked in the description will give you close to the same shallow depth of field (equivalent to f2) but the 16mm is about a 24 on full frame so it will be wider.

Good afternoon, Mark. I've been using Zve10 mainly for photography with the lens set up of Sony 18 135, Tamron 17 70(2.8), Tamron 18-300, Viltrox 56 1.4, and TT artisan 50 1.2. Based on my experience, the photos that the Zve10 produces seem to be very on much on par with the Image Quality of a lot more expensive set up. I was wondering if You would be kind enough to make a Dedicated Photo IQ comparison Video between Zve10 and a7iv or a7r5. If that is not possible, I would appreciate Your two cents on the Image Quality of Zve10 compared to the other More Expensive set ups. Thank You very much in advance.

10-bit makes a difference for sure, especially in the skies, but autofocus -hopefully the GH6 announcement on the 22nd will solve it all!!

I don’t do a lot I use the exposure stipend on my colour checker and I adjust contrast by lowering the shadows and upping the highlights usually. But I will try to do a vid on it.

The zv-e1 doesn’t have an apsc crop mode in 4K because it only has 12 mp. You can still use your apsc lenses, but you’ll have to zoom in with clear image zoom until the vignette goes away. so effectively, the 16mm on apsc will look a lot like the 16 on apsc

Well done, Mark, thanks. For clarity, you are color grading and perhaps adjusting exposure on the LeemingLUT footage, yes? I purchased his LUTs on your recommendation, and I'm following his instructions re the picture profile settings, zebra setting and ETTR (on the a7iv), but after application of the LUT in Final Cut Pro I am still needing to color grade and adjust exposure slightly. I'm a total novice, so I am not sure if I just have more work to do on lighting or if I should expect to make those tweaks (tweeks?) all the time.

yes - I tweak them for sure. The colours are still a bit flat and and I also take some of the warmness out. The A7iv skews too warm for me. I adjust my exposure usually to get more contrast. For a novice - it sounds like you’re doing great 👍

@@TheJedRides The truth is the LeemingLUT was created before the A7iv arrived - so if you had an A7siii, the LeemingLUT would require less tweaking. But the A7iv has a brand new colour science. He will likely update his LUT, as he always does (for free for us owners)

I can know which camera is which based on the Blur background. But I think that it really depends on budget and how much u r able to think Outside the box with the different gears. At the end, GEARS are TOOLS though

the outside shots have the same depth of field, 1.4 on sigma and 2.0 on the Sony. the studio shots thought should have the Sony with a shallow depth of field because I set them both at f2

Very good comparison... the color chart was the giveaway in the outdoor shots. It was blurry in most of the A7iv clips. Overall I liked the skin tones and color a bit better on the ZV-E10. You definitely can't beat the value of the cheaper setup, though it's hard to get at regular retail price now because of supply problems and on eBay the camera alone is now often around 1k, even used ones... I got myself a used A6300 now and it was still 550 USD... crazy! ;)

on the outside shots, the color chart was blurry because I held it to far in front of my face. The fstop were equivalent in terms of blur - 1.4 vs 2 - I just should have held that chart under my chin with the A7iv 🤣🤣 now when both are set to 1.4 - definitely easy to tell.

During the test, I couldn’t really se a relevant difference. After knowing which was which, I felt the IV-24GM looked a bit better. But that could just be a psychological pitfall. Anyway, for KZbin talking head videos, the E10-16mm is more than good enough. I watch videos for their content, not to enjoy the dynamic range. Great comparison!

Really only time I could tell B was the more expensive set up for SURE was outside with the red beanie. With that many colors going on, the shot just looked more clear esp when looking at the fabric of the beanie. Then when you zoomed out and compared them, I could notice the heavier background blur which makes sense. I think for product with photography and videography this higher quality might come in handy in random picky situations maybe. Less chances for me to go “ohhh…well this looks off” Coming from a smartphone though I have the luxury of never needing to color grade. I wonder if I will have to now. I’m assuming smartphones essentially color grade themselves.

Hello mate, great video as usual, lots of fun 😂. Can I suggest you use the correct aperture using the crop factor, so the tests are correct, as f/1.8 on an apsc sensor is f/1.2 ✅, which is almost impossible to find the apsc world. So my suggestion is to use approximate F stops using the crop factor (x 1.5). Thanks for reading this.

I’m not sure if I’m reading this right, but the tested in this video are what you’re asking. I set the GM to f2 outside and the Sigma to 1.4 which is close to the f2. In the studio, I set them both at f2 so I wouldn’t have to change the lights. At 5:40 I explain it

I do like an IPA. the one in this video is a Sam Adams, which is close to an IPA, but a bit smoother. It’s my Favourite of the popular beers. But I love lots of different IPA’s up here in Canada. maybe too much 🤣🍺 The A7Siii colours are very similar to the A7iv. If you use something like the LeemingLUT (which corrects colours accurately), you would not have too hard of a time matching them. Just shoot HLG3 on both and apply the LeemingLUT and you’ll get similar results.

Great comparison. The ZV-E10 does well what it's made for at this price point. I'm really enjoying it as a b-roll camera and some product photography. Taking it outside on a photoshoot isn't the best thing to do indeed, especially not with that absent viewfinder.

iauto is fine to start - but you will want to use manual eventually. I have lots of vids in the channel about how to upgrade your image 👍

​@@mariuspistoale9790 i bought the 30mm f1.4 was an awesome lens... Perhaps a 16mm might be better as on the zve10 it has more crops in stability mode and in 4k modes.. Most people state the af and sharpness is better on the 16mm..if you also plan shooting more vertical the 16mm would be great..

Back again! Might just suck it up and buy Amazon renewed A7C instead of checking every day for a sale like I’ve been doing. I thought maybe after CES. I never buy used stuff. But. Amazon says it’s like new. Now for the G Master lens however, shall I pay the extra $200 to buy it new instead? Is it such a sensitive component that it’s better to be safe and not buy renewed for that?

For the $200 I would of the new GM. It’s not much more compared to the used and you get a year warranty.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis also actually, although having my eyes on the 24mm for weeks now, I just realized…they say the iPhone 13 Pro I’m used to is “26mm equivalent” but I wasn’t accounting for the fact that the iPhone crops in when you record video. Idk why. So I’m wondering if a 35mm would get me closer to the field of view I’m used to. Being close up reviews of products I don’t want any distortion. That’s one interesting thing about the iPhone camera. When I take a photo of myself, it doesn’t quite look like me. But when I switch over to the video, it seems to do all of my proportions correctly.

I really can't decide which to get. It would be my first camera, so I don't want to spend too much even though I technically can afford it. But the same time I want something "future-proof" with better build quality... Looking side by side makes it so hard to decide. As most said I thought A looks better, because it was sharper on the color thingy, but it turns out it was sharper for other reasons than what I thought, lol. The results definitely don't seem to justify the 3 times price difference, at least looking at this comparison.

the A7iv is the better camera and it will be easier to get a better footage and the photo experience will be much better. But straight up image quality the zv-e10 can compete. The A7iv is the best camera I own or have tried. you won’t be disappointed if you get it as long as it’s in the budget. But you can capture amazing footage with the zv-e10 at a very low price.

I'm trying to justify the price by looking at it as a long term investment, but the thing is I'm still not sure if it's worth even when looked at that way. I just don't know how often I'll be using it tbh. I want something to take photos when traveling (which doesn't happen to often yet) that is better than a phone. Most pictures will end up as memories and some on Instagram I guess. Another thing that I'll be doing is something similar to product photography (or at least I think it is). Basically taking pictures of my origami models and posting on Instagram. Currently doing that with DIY light box and a phone, the results seem decent, but the focus and bokeh suck and I can't get a black background no matter what iso and shutter settings I try. For video I'll be doing here and there, but I don't expect it to be my main thing, unless I decided to do origami tutorials or something like that.

If you have the budget - do the A7IV - it's a much better camera overall. The ZV-E10 can produce great quality, but the A7IV is the best camera I have by a lot. Plus, the ZV-E10 isn't being made right now due to a global chip shortage.

if it’s travel related, I would probably use a gopro hero 10, or even a phone to start. if you want to get into filmmaking, the ZV-E10 is a good choice with the sigma 16mm 1.4 that’s in the description. it these things take time to learn and they will not survive in the rain - which is why a gopro hero 10 can be better.

is just difficult to decide really on what to get. If it was based on this video hands down the ZV-E10. Less than half the price for what seems to be 80% of the performance. Now, I would love to see examples where the A7IV just completely destroys the ZV-E10, like when showcasing a product maybe, or going at close range from product A to product B, or low light video. I ask this because I would really love to buy a new camera and get back into making some videos and would hate to overpay for something I would never end up using like everything the A7IV has to offer. But at the same time, my last camera was the Panasonic G7 and always felt it was missing lots of quality, specially in low light environment and the autofocus was horrible on it at times, so I don't want to get the ZV-E10 and 2 months later feel the same way as when I had the G7. For example: I build computers, and sometimes It would be nice to turn off the lights and just showcase the interior of the pc with RGB colors coming off different components, this is hard to do a cheap camera because of all the noise, it looks horrible, and I have never seen anyone yet show what the ZV-E10 can do in scenarios similar to that. Any advice would be appreciated.

if you want fantastic lowlight - the best value option is probably the A7C. if like a full frame zv-e10 but with a viewfinder, longer battery life, better lowlight, weathersealed. The A7iv might autofocus a little better in lowlight, and it has 10-bit colour also you can use log profiles with greater success. @@dbgmediainc7506 The issue with the ZV-E10 is you cannot buy one. Sony ceased taking orders, and stopped production back in December because of the chip shortage. So unless you know of a place with one in stock, it is likely not going to be available anytime soon.
