Because your axles are close enough to 1 metre apart, you can simulate each percent of climbing by raising the front wheel 1 cm. For instance, raising your front wheel 5cm will be equivalent to 5% gradient.

Also a little hack may be that if you don't have a table close to you to put your stuff on( like bars and gels). You can always use a in halve cutted bidon. Then put your bars and gels in that bidon. If you have 2 bidon cages just put one bidon in with electrolite water and put the other bidon with your food in it in the other bidon cage. Your food is now within reach and easy to grab!

Do you gus have a hack to reduce the vibration/noise from the trainer making contact with the floor? Not making a lot of friends in my apartment complex this winter 😔
@jseski92097 жыл бұрын
For vibration dampening on your apart. floor: You can do the yoga mat thing (which is typically a thin rubber), or you can opt for the thicker (like 1/2 to 3/4 inch) rubber workshop/garage mat. Just make sure all the contact points of the trainer are on the same mat For sound: get some 2'X3' carpet samples, or cutup similar sized pieces of old (preferably shaggy, the thicker the better) carpet; put them inbetween & around the trainer legs (not under, as they will be too soft & give you a squishy side-to-side unstable riding setup). It'll p'bly seem just as noisy to you, in the room; but it will dissipate in the "fluff" & reduce the sound vibration's ability to transfer to other rooms & the floor below.

What’s the best way to use swift with a fluid trainer heart rate monitor speed sensor and cadence sensor? ToSimulate resistance of a smart trailer
@RelentlessC2C7 жыл бұрын
If you are using ANT+ you can run a dongle on your PC. If you have an iPhone you can use BLE protocol with no adapter. If you buy an HDMI adapter for the iPhone you can run the picture to a TV or projector. You can't get the benefit of a smart trainer changing resistance with the gradient, but all other functionality is the same.

Hi GCN, can I do the same workouts on Zwift with a basic trainer + speed sensor as with the smart trainers. #torqueback
@thestopper51656 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have a power meter - but then, only 'kind of'. My Wahooo KickR has been at a mate's place for a while, so lately I have had to use a 'dumb' trainer with Zwift. My bike has a power meter (crank-based), so I just 'crank up' the resistance on the dumb trainer until it requires 240W at 50rpm in top gear to roll. Gearing down reduces the output at a given cadence; changing cadence changes power output. A cadence of 90 in top requires ~450W, which is OK for most purposes: no 'normal' cyclist is maintaining for more than a few minutes anyhow. This is not a perfect solution; for example, in the lowest gear at 80 RPM, it still requires 170W. This means that you won't be able to do workouts with LOW power/rpm requirements like GCN's "Hill Attacks". "Hill Attacks" requires you to do intervals where the 'rest' portion is at 125W/80rpm (based on an FTP of 243). That's a problem because to get down to 125W using my method, requires a cadence of about 50rpm: so you either fail the segment because you put out too *much* power during the 'rest', or because you fail to keep a high enough cadence during the 'rest'. Too *much* power? How can there ever BE such a thing? Also, having an upper limit of ~450W also ruins any idea of "sprints". If your 20-sec and 30-sec power is restricted to 450W, you might as well not bother. James Bark's comment about using your back brake gets around that, if you've got the dexterity to control your back brake during a sprint... which I don't.

When you do a zwift ride and upload it to strava, does it count towards your weekly/yearly total kilometres ridden? And if you have a classic trainer rather than a smart trainer with changing resistance, what happens when you ride up a hill? Do you simply go slower for the same given power, meaning you have to use a bigger gear to simulate the higher required power output?
@briandarnell18097 жыл бұрын
Dunno about the classic trainer... but I can tell you that Zwift miles uploaded to Strava count as real world mile for weekly and yearly goals. It will not count for Strava challenges though such as Gran Fondo or monthly climbing challenge.

1) After you finish your water bottle, don't just place it on the table next to you or hand it to your domestique - throw it away! (You can always pick it up after the ride) 2) Ride low usage courses at odd times of the day - if you are the only person on the loop you can get the orange jersey. Backwards London hill is almost never ridden. Then screenshot yourself before someone else finishes the loop. 3) The drafting boost on the downhill of the big mountain makes it easier to get the max speed.

No "sticky bidon" at 5:50? Missed a trick there, lads (or at least, a semi-funny laboured in-joke). Also, in the GCN Zwift videos I've seen so far, you don't mention the most obvious "positive" - the absence of halfwits in SUVs with "baby on board" signs, who all seem to want to kill me. (Also... at 30km/hr, bumpy roads in real life are a pain in the scranus; on Zwift at 40km/hr, not so at all) . Now I have a dilemma: do I keep my "Wahooligan" strip (KickR, bitchez!) or go GCN-tard? It's a shame I can't have both, at least until there's an option that enables people to win an *All Blacks* strip
