Congrats on the purchase! I went with the AM3 a year ago, still very happy with it. I feel your pain about the clouds… We are not far from each other.

Hi Sacha I am sure you will enjoy the AM5 (new version). From my experience it guides great for a back garden or travel rig. Just a note to say I have learnt so much from your channel especially with Pixinsight Thanks David

One item in which you spoke in error (I believe) . . . the tripod is NOT fiberglass, it is carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is lighter and stronger than fiberglass. A plus when considering weight factors. I am looking forward to your review. Thank you.

You are right, I mixed them up! And yes, a really nice plus point for sure.

I don't think I would count out Bluetooth connectivity between the ASIAir and the mount until you try it because I've been using it on both my AM3 and AM5N since they enabled it and it's been flawless. I wish everything Bluetooth worked this well.

Thanks for that info - great to hear. Personally I think now in this AM5/2600 Air combination the cable is so short and issueless that I would not even see the advantage of removing it, but for someone using an ASIAir or and AM3 without the saddle USB port this might surely be a consideration.

What happened to the Avalon? 🤔 I have hem15(1.300euro in Italy) I can get 0.3 rms with my Takahashi 800mm ...what are the results with this? Many thanks for your videos
@viewintospace2 ай бұрын
I still have the Avalon - would never give this one away. But given the limited cloudless nights here in Switzerland, I decided a second rig would be a good thing to make the best use of these rare nights, and so I bought this one. I would would say in comparison the AM5 is more practical, but the Avalon is more beautiful ;-)

@@viewintospace I'm thinking of getting one but I am a bit reluctant for its dimensions...myabe i will just stick with a iOptron hem29 ...if you polar align it with the integrated ipolar its a beast trending 0.4 rms

Will you be testing the mount and guiding with a higher focal length OTA like an SCT?
@viewintospace2 ай бұрын
Yes, I for sure will test it with my 103APO and maybe also with the SCT

The baggage allowance on most airlines is 23kg. Chuck it in the suitcase with wheels and no problem right?

Can you confirm the saddle output is 5a not 3a ?
@viewintospace2 ай бұрын
I can confirm the mount input is 5A.... 🤣 And did you know that the saddle output is also an input? And did you know that ZWO recommends if you have an ASI2600MC Air that you power the AM5N from your cam via the saddle input? The world is full of mystery.....

Can it really handle a c11 sct Sasha?
@viewintospace2 ай бұрын
Just checked, the Celestron C11 has 12.2kg - so even if you go wild with cam, eat, filter wheel and so on, you will still not top the 20kg. Surely use the counterweight and potentially the pier extension, but then you should be fine.
