Michel Petruciani is one of my favorite piano players because of his style. Obviously he has chops, but at times he plays so simple and beautifully rhythmic and melodic. He also really keys in with the drummer and bassist. You could compare him with Chick Corea and Michel Camilo, who both also do the same things in their own ways, yet he has his unique style. Everything recorded by the trio with Gadd and Jackson is the best!
@mlggodzilla15674 жыл бұрын
Everyone talking about Petrucciani, and i mean it's right he was truly a beast on the piano, but Steve Gadd absolutely slayed on the drums.

I play keyboards and some bass and guitar. I got hired to play keys for a band shopping their record that Anthony Jackson did the session on. After auditioning many bass players, we couldn't find someone that was any good and with our first gig coming up I came to rehearsal with my keyboards and a bass thinking we can get through the gig at least. It worked and after the gig, I worked my ass off learning all the nuances that Anthony played in the studio all the while waiting for a bass player to show up. No bass player ever did and I played bass with the band for two years. I learned a lot from Anthony. Actually, everything.

incredible inspiration and creativity for the whole group! Each Member subtly bringing his touch to their Common Score! I'm not a Jazz specialist, but I love it when it leaves in "free style" like that; like a Trance where everyone lets himself be carried away by the Melody that he builds and deconstructs with his partners according to their successive fulgurations! And a special wink for MICHEL! Being French myself I could not fail to bear him this mark of respect that this timeless Genius deserves amply, so much he knew how to make vibrate generations of music lovers and profane ^^
