For $149K it's an amazing car at a bargain, for $176K (with Weissach) it's still good, but for $250K (after markup) ... can't forget this is a car that started from a $65K base Cayman. At that higher price point, I'd probably be cross-shopping at least a GT3 and maybe other exotics.

@@James-wg8mn That is both the blessing and the curse of Porsches... their styling is generally understated and elegant (compared to the usual exotic car brands), and depending on whether you're an average guy or gal on the street, or a hard core enthusiast, their $250K car can look like a $50K car, or the other way around. Enthusiasts will usually see the extra CF, aero bits and other tell tale signs that you're looking at a higher end Porsche. But for someone who wants to fly under the radar so to speak, Porsches are kind of the best choice. If you WANT most people to know you paid $200K+ for a car, this is probably not the right one...

You don't need a double wishbone front in this. Misha Charoudin did a review of the SSR Performance GT$RS around the ring which has coilovers and a front aero duct and bigger wing and that fixed the feel of the front end he said. Manthey Racing also runs their cars with coilovers and there is no complaints for no double wishbone front from them. Same with Dundon Racing running MCS.

The one thing Porsche does better than anyone else is deliver a car that makes you feel like you're driving a racecar, whilst not having it suck. Racecars suck on the street, but they have the perfect blend of creature comfort and lunacy that has really allowed them to corner the market. The shame of the whole thing is that this formula has really only been around for a little more than a decade, yet the EV future has already sealed the fate of these wonderful ICE experiences. Is it worth $225k-$250k? That a question better left answered in 10-20 years...

In your last GT4 review, you said the car felt sterile when driving normally. I totally agree with your statement that unless you are on track or doing very illegal speeds on the road, it isn't that exciting. How does the gt4 rs compare? Is it fun at normal speeds too?
@tomjones5166 Жыл бұрын
You can see from his review that he is having most of his excitement/fun with the GT4 RS by pushing it hard towards redline in each gear at over 100mph to get an adrenaline rush. It’s normally more fun to drive a slower car fast then a fast car slow on the street. Given the GT4 RS has stiffer springs and more tire noise that should make it much less sterile feeling during normal driving. I think a GT4 RS is an extremely special car, so one should be excited and have fun just driving it at legal speeds.
@thebigos1 Жыл бұрын
@@tomjones5166 I would agree from the video he seems to be having a lot of fun but like you said, he is going pretty quick on public roads. I'm interested to hear his comparison of the gt4 and RS daily driving it. All the gt4 reviews before said it was such a hardcore car that is impossible to drive daily. I personally totally disagree with most reviews and the gt4 is easy to daily and is very tame when driving normally. I own a 2005 RSX also and that is a blast to drive around town (slow cars driven fast are fun 😊)

@@thebigos1 the regular 718 GT4 felt a bit "compromised" in terms of driving dynamics, which almost feels wrong to say, given how capable on track it is. It really needs to be pushed hard to come alive. In contrast, the 4RS is far more visceral even at 5/10ths due to the suspension, engine response/sound, and short gearing. It's more exciting at all speeds.
