The KZbin compression makes it look like there's no difference between ISO3200 and 4000 - it's actually a huge difference! The noise is very fine and suppressed at 4000. Also a massive shoutout to @Adam Lobo (kzbin.info/door/y4ssRxw_k0XdiH31OxVHmA) for helping out with the ISO test with his A7S III! He does tech reviews as well, head on over to his channel and say hi!

ISO 4000 at what picture profile though? S Log 3? What’s the second native ISO for S Conetone? What about when using no picture profile?

So I’m confused . For the A7S3 If I want to shoot in the best 4K quality possible, forgetting about file size or computer needs, is it the HS Codec I should use or intra compression Codec ??

I recorded 20 minutes 8k and it overheated. I've been trying to find out why but maybe your tip at 06:15 will help. Is the screen helping overheat the body if it's plugged against it?

As a solo outdoor filmmaker, do you think the opportunity to exploit digital camera movement because of 8k on a 4K timeline makes this a killer feature?

I’m assuming the 25 minutes-per the 60gb memory card-was for the 400mbs option of h.265, not 200mbs? So the memory would double if using 200mbs?

Great video. I’d be interested in knowing if there is much of a difference between the 400mbs VS 200mbs 8k recording?

Has Atomos released anything for 8K pro res raw on the Sony A1 yet or just 4.3K 60P?
@justinavila13202 жыл бұрын
No only 4K Raw. Word on the block is that 8K will not be supported anytime soon (its already been 5 months since your comment and still no) I've heard a few reasons from Sony not wanting to support it, to the fact that the data rate for 8K raw output is too high for HDMI. You would need an SDI connection. Even on the A1 8K footage is in a compressed format not raw. But I disclaim my comment with - I've only heard - am not an expert in the 8K field.

I'm starting from scratch building a system. The decision is harder than I thought it would be. Sony FX6/A1 or Canon C70/R5?
@OrthodoxforGod3 жыл бұрын
I have been in the same position, What did you end up going with? I am leaning more towards the Sony a1 side, however the introduction of the R3 is pretty hard to deny.

@@OrthodoxforGod I went with the A1 + fx6, coming from canon r5...high iso performance did it for me
@justinavila13202 жыл бұрын
One great thing about Sony - is the FX3, A1, and FX6 (FX9 too) have Gyro data stored with your files and you can use Sony's software to further stabilize clips in post (with a crop) but it works SOOOOOO much better than any warp stabilizer in Premiere or Resolve. Plus, you can select the level of stabilization. This works in addition to uses IBIS or Active stabilization or not. If doing any handheld work its amazing, far beats the Canon stabilization baked into your footage.

Hi there. New subscriber here. Thanks for making this video. I just purchased the Sony A1 and the Sony FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS lens for photography and video work. Do you have any ideas on how to control the light on the F2.8 lens since there is no way to put a neutral density filter on the front of this huge lens?

I own a Sony A1 but can’t use as a production camera fir the work I do. Have run into so many pattern noise issues, metal grating, patterns in shirts. Once this moire is baked into the image it’s impossible to remove. Sony has told me to blur it in post. Sorry, Sony, that’s not a good enough answer.

I lost you when you said up to 200%. 8K is 400% (4times 4k aka 4 4k videos fit inside 1 8k image) 8k is not double 4k 🙄. This is why at 8K 200% still looks better than 4K native because it still twice as much resolution and it would literally be 6K. The 4k, 6K and 8K resolutions naming don’t really match the pixel count jump.
@derrickrr55163 жыл бұрын
The naming is almost accurate. True 2K (2048x1080) is what messes everything up. If we ignore it and say 1920x1080 is 2K then we do see the math work out just fine. 1920x1080 (let’s just call it 2K for now) 3840x2160 (4K) 7680x4320 (8K) So with each jump up, the width and the height doubles and, like you said, four images can be placed in the next size up. However, it’s gonna look stupid when they say 15360x8640 is 16K. Sure looks like 15 is the next closest number to me. I think they should’ve just named them based on the width. 1920, 2048, 3840, 7680, etc. Oh and I’m pretty sure cropping in FCP works the same way. Cropping to 200% cuts your height and width in half which effectively gives you 1/4 of the picture. So he did it right. Unless I’m having a brain fart.
@2424rocket Жыл бұрын
Why would a smart guy like you be editing in final cut? Throw away that piece of crap and start editing in resolve. Resolve is better in every possible way and it will probably play your 8K even easier.
