I haven't heard an album of his that wasn't. The man's love for music is pure and immeasurable. Once heard him talking about doing a recording session in his bathroom, purely because he liked the "twangy" quality his instruments got off his bathroom walls. I love the far-out concept albums like Time and Secret Messages, but there's so much joy and bounce in Balance of Power and Zoom, so much atmosphere in "No Answer" (*snrk*) and Eldorado... every album is just passion and play, the heart of a true audiophile on full display, and it freaking rocks.

@lt. Soo true m8 we lived in a window of time that was greater than it will ever be again, but there are some great singers today but soo few. Most just sing our great ole songs because they love them of coarse but are too lazy or not driven enough.Soo sad when they have even better tools to use than our bands did.

Totally agree !! I am also 60 now, and I am a lover of almost every genre of music. We were so blessed with such amazing, talented musicians as we grew up....sometimes makes me sad for the younger generations. I guess that is why I just love watching music reaction channels that delve into older music...especially the 70's !!! Jeff was pleading with the Operator to let the phone *_"ring a little longer, longer, longer"_* because back in the day of landlines you needed the Operator to make long distance calls for you, and also because if you were having trouble reaching someone locally you could enlist the help of the Operator to try the number for you, thinking there might be something wrong with your telephone line. This is a hauntingly beautiful track that everyone of that era can relate to. Utter genius, once again, from Jeff Lynne.

When all this great music was coming out in the 70's, we didn't have MTV videos, computers, internet, cell phones, etc. We heard the studio version on FM radio (AM radio in the 50's & 60"s) and if we liked it, we went to the record store and bought the album or 8-track or cassette. So the studio version was normally the first version we heard. If you wanted to hear a live version, you had to buy a ticket to a concert and go see it live in person. Then you go home and continue listening to the studio version. The live version lived only in your memory. So, thank you BP for listening to the studio version first like so many of us did. NOW watch this song live at Wembly!!!!
