It’s going to be weird tho when there’s like no Beatles alive or no Stones or any of a large number of bands and artist, thankfully we got to live and for many see these artists live in concert. I pronounced it like 'stop' but with a 'z'. The kids said a new group in Texas. I started paying real attention with LaGrange and Tush. Summer of 76 they came to Pittsburgh on the World Wide Texas Tour with Aerosmith , featuring Point Blank. Badass show. I went to college then joined the army. First time I saw ZZ Top was when I was a young USAF Airman stationed at Dyess AFB, Texas in the very early 1971. Not much to do in Abilene but get drunk, smoke, and party. Well, someone from our Air Force group of party animals at Dyess told us that there was good local band from Houston that was going to play at the Abilene High School. We didn’t know the name of the band but we went just for something to do on that Friday night. Well, ZZ Top came out on that small high school band, dressed in jeans and sweat shirts with arms cut off. They rocked that place down big time. We all knew that this new band had the sound and we all thought and knew that they were going to make it big in the future. What impressed us the most was that there was no fancy light show, just 3 guys playing their heart out for the audience. A few years later in 1974, our same group of party animals went to see them at their annual concert at the University of Texas Austin football filed. It was an outdoor concert with around 90,000 in attendance. They had ZZ Top, Santana, Bad Company, and Joe cocker at that 12-hour outdoor concert. ZZ top was the headliner. This time they came out on stage in white sequined sparkling suits instead of jeans and sweatshirt but they still played just as good or even better than the first time we had seen them before they became popular worldwide. Being at the high school concert in 1971 was like being part of ZZ Top history. I’m now 71 years old retired USAF, Vietnam Veteran, and still listen and rock with ZZ TOP music!

Jimi Hendrix once stated, "I'm not the greatest," there's a new dude with a style I can dig names Billy Gibbons, watch out for this cat.

I believe Jimi stated the above on the Dick Cavett Show. Billy was in a band before ZZ top called the Moving Sidewalks, they opened for Jimi Hendrix and the Experience in '68. Jimi and Billy were staying in a hotel and had opposing rooms. Billy talks in an Interview with Marc Maron about how Jimi showed him tricks on the guitar and that they would swap licks! He really did dig Billy's style. Really cool stuff!

Thanks for uploading Very serious , and very professional great musicians . Billy Gibbons is one of the very best guitar players . His slide work on " Tush " is eternal, and phenomenal , one of the greatest slide pieces that there ever was and that there ever will be , if not the greatest . When I was young ,, I could never get over their song called " Blue jean Blues . ""

*I attended the private event when they received "the Key to the City, Memphis, Tennessee"* - that was about 1990 in the Skyway, Roof of The Peabody Hotel, Memphis, TN. These guys are Stars in their Business, Period. My late Brother-n-Law was Chairman of the Memphis/Shelby County Commission. Blessed to have had him in my life. *Great Man and Great Soul* Florence, Alabama That area has hosted unbelievable Artists recording music. Muscle Schoals, Killen, Sheffield ... Aretha comes to mind.

*I met Frank Beard and ZZ Top's road manager at the Holiday Inn Indianapolis. It was 1975 during the Fandango tour, they gave me my first Texas Tall boy beer. They gave me all their pictures and autographs and i got to go their concert and party. They treated me like a little brother, and i was laughing at Frank and he said what's so funny son. And i said how crazy is it that your the only one without a beard and yet thats your last name? I never got to play Billys Guitar but they were all so good to me, i will never forget that moment in time*
