This is now shown with current players breaking international caps and international goals for their countries. Never in the history of football has there been so many international record holders in any given decade than that of the last ten years. Record international appearances... Cristiano Ronaldo... 212 caps Lionel Messi... 186 caps Sergio Ramos... 180 caps Gianluca Buffon... 176 caps Diego Godin... 161 caps. Robert Lewandoski... 152 caps Wesley Sneidjer... 134 caps. Of the top ten international goalscorers of all time, five players are still currently active. Cristiano Ronaldo... 130 goals Lionel Messi... 109 goals Romelu Lukaku... 85 goals Robert Lewandoski... 83 goals Neymar... 79 goals. @bkhan192 ай бұрын
I’m a millennial who loves to study and play football, and while Messi is undoubtedly one of the best modern players, I have to say that Pele is the greatest of all time. His case is not just about goals or trophies, but about intelligence, innovation, and how far ahead of his time he was, both in skill and statistics. Pele revolutionized the game. He didn’t just score goals, he redefined how football was played. Many of the elements we take for granted in today’s game-the combination of flair, skill, and efficiency-were brought to the forefront by Pele. At a time when the game was more rigid and defensive, Pele blended creativity with a ruthless ability to finish. His over 1,200 goals stand as a testament not only to his talent but to his ability to adapt and exploit spaces and opportunities in a way that others couldn't. Consider the era he played in-defenses were brutal, the physical toll on players immense, and yet Pele managed to thrive, scoring with both feet, his head, and from distance, all while facing some of the roughest defenders in football history. He was efficient because he had to be, in an era when there was no protection for creative players. What makes this more impressive is that his genius wasn’t confined to individual brilliance but elevated entire teams. His presence transformed Brazil into the footballing powerhouse of the 20th century and made Santos one of the greatest clubs of that time. And let’s talk about his World Cup achievements. Three World Cup wins. No one else in history can claim that. Even though he was injured during much of Brazil’s 1962 victory, Pele's influence on the team and his role in securing their legacy as the world’s best is indisputable. He scored in two World Cup finals, in 1958 at just 17 years old and in 1970, leading arguably the greatest team in history. His contribution in 1970, after adapting to a more creative, deeper role, shows his intelligence and versatility. Now, look at Maradona, who, in terms of raw talent, may have been the most ingenious and street-smart player football has ever seen. He was a magician with the ball, but his chaotic career, lack of discipline, and turbulent personal life prevented him from reaching Pele's consistency or longevity. Maradona’s 1986 World Cup win is legendary, but he didn’t maintain the same level throughout his career and didn’t sustain the kind of long-term influence on football that Pelé did. And we mustn't forget the global impact of Pele. The beautiful game became truly global thanks to his status as the face of FIFA and football’s global ambassador. Pelé made football universal; his charm, charisma, and unmatched talent helped push football beyond Brazil and Europe, influencing generations of players and fans across the world. Without Pele, we may not have the same global passion for the game today. Messi, for all his brilliance, doesn’t have this kind of narrative. He has longevity at Barcelona and now with Argentina's recent World Cup win, but he operates in an era where systems, technology, and data heavily support players. Pele, on the other hand, was the pioneer. He set the standards that modern footballers like Messi, and even Ronaldo, now build upon. In conclusion, while Messi might be the greatest of his generation, Pele is the greatest of all time. He didn’t just excel on the field-he changed the game, and no other player can claim the same breadth of impact.

Well, he lacks objectivity then. The evidence shows that Messi is not only on his level, but has had greater success and longevity. Also, in regards to winning more world cups, the same could be said for Messi too. After all, Messi when he finally did have a team capable of performing as a unit ended up winning a world cup at 35. That's an age where Maradona had retired for Argentina. Therefore, if Argentina had been more clinical in the 2014 final, and had been a better unit in 2018- then Messi could well have won those tournaments too. Maradona also won the 86 world cup final because his teammates were clinical. As much as he was the reason they made the final, the fact is his teammates scored the three goals. He produced a nice pass for the winner, yet had to rely on the chance (along with the other 2 goals) being taken. They also made the final in 1990 without him scoring a single goal at that tournament. It wasn't a case of him doing it all alone.

Reasons why Diego Maradona is the greatest of all time: 1- every one was scared to face him while the world had legends like Platini and Zico but he was from another planet (said by Gary Lineker) 2- he was doing all this magic and unbelievable skills and control on the worst pitches! The pitches back then were much worse than nowadays! Plus the shoes were worse and the ball was worse! 3- he was fighting for the ball and never dives or look for a faul despite the crazy tackles and slides he faced! Every match was like a battle! 4- he created new movesets that never existed and he was using these moves in the right way with the right time and not showing off! 5- he went to Napoli and made the club into something from nothingness and got the cup twice! 6- his passing and stamina were on another level and he was the bravest of all time! 7- if only he's on his prime and plays in this modern time with these pitches, shoes and balls, he would shock the world even more! If you say now football has changed and the defensive style has improved, Maradona will create space and pass through every defense like he always did!

It's hard to compare players from different eras. Every generation has the benefit of learning from the previous generations, especially after the internet. We can watch the past but cannot see the future. So comparing Maradona to Messi doesn't make sense. One thing we can say is Maradona made Argentina and Naples famous.

mean and hard as iron that is what made him the greatest ever full stop Maradona. Played in an era where defenders went out to injure you and you got little protection from refs. Defenders hacked and stamped on his feet to slow him down. He played in a decent, but not, best club teams. He was instrumental in winning the world Cup with Agentina. If he played today, he would be killing it.

He's not a combination at all... The resemblance is only to Messi, not CR. There is virtually no part of his game that resembles Ronaldo. In fact, they're even less comparable than CR and Messi, given Messi and Ronaldo compete in terms of their ability as consistent goalscorers.

RIP Diego Armando Maradona the greatest to ever do it

Best passes, dribbling, goals on worst pitches and against the most brutal defenders of all time. Maradona was certainly the most technically gifted player of all time. His dribbles, ball control, balance and ability to overcome opponents in one-on-one situations were incomparable. He was able to pass the ball past several defenders seemingly effortlessly, often with his left foot, while maintaining full control even at high speed. His famous solo goal against England at the 1986 World Cup shows how unique his dribbling technique was. Maradona was able to operate in tight spaces, even under heavy opposition pressure, and had unparalleled precision in his passes and shots. Attention Messi fans, you might cry after this video.😂

The closest I've ever seen to Maradona is a Papua New Guinea player called Manis Lamond. He played almost to the tee- Maradona except he couldn't finish. He missed so many goals it drove me insane, but I can't forget how he moved and deceived players exactly the way Maradona did. And for that, I still admire and can't forget him. How I wish he practised his shots for hours on end. Then he could have played anywhere.

@carlossimancas98675 ай бұрын
