In an earlier unboxing video, I showed off my recent purchases from ZZPerformance. This serves as Part 1 of the handling upgrades I will be making to my 2015 Impala Limited LTZ, which will be ZZP's Chromoly Tubular Rear Trailing Arms.
MOST W-Bodies left the factory with a stamped steel trailing arms, which are not only flimsy but the open channel tends to fill with dirt and/or road salt and can be severely weakened over time. So this mod serves 2 purposes; to stiffen up the handling, and to prevent the trailing arm from severing due to rot.
Now as you'll see my LTZ has the uplevel FE3 suspension, which came from the factory with boxed trailing arms. Although these boxed arms are in and of themselves an upgrade over the stamped arms, the ZZP arms are MUCH MUCH beefier. That being said, I did install a set of the FE3 arms on both of my old Impalas (2004 and 2012) a few years ago, and after cleaning and painting my 15's old set, will be installing them on my 09 Impala.

These will fit every W-Body ever produced (1st Gen, Gen 1.5, 2nd Gen, and 3rd Gen) from 1988 to 2016. YES they'll even fit your grandma's 1990 Buick Regal!!

Love those impalas. I have a 2012 black L.T. I've owned it for 10 years. It has been a great car. No problems at all. Keep those impala videos coming. I've learned a lot from you.

When I put my ZZP trailing arm on worried about those not being off set like the factory ones. But it hasn't caused any problems. You mentioned you are still waiting for your end links so you can change the end swaybar. I replaced those too when I did my struts. I also put ones on that were about twice as thick and also they have zerk fittings so I can grease them. Just figured they'd be stiffer. Didn't really notice a difference but the struts made a big difference.

I did actually receive the ZZP adjustable end links. They're quite a bit beefier than the stockers!! Might have to hit them with a little paint, tho, as they came unpainted ☹️

I just wanted to show some Maplewood Minnesota love your way. I have a 06 ss with the zzp tubular control arms and strut tower braces. Very nice to get rid of some of that body roll. I will also be watching your brake upgrade. The brakes in these cars are very sub par. Great Videos boss!

@@CertifiedShadetree100% summer car only issue I have had is I went through two transmissions the 4T65E HD. Took it to Harmon Performance our in New Richmond, WI I can’t say enough good things about this guy he is a wizard 🧙‍♂️. Now I have a easy bolt to drop to drain the fluid. That and a nifty shift kit. Keep the videos coming boss your door removal video was a big help for me, Thanks again!

That's always been the reason I never bought an SS. It's too bad GM didn't back the LS4 with the 4T80-E. There's a KZbinr called Junkyard Dave that installed a 4T80 in a GP GXP, but he never posted any followup videos with the car in action after the swap. Would have liked to have seen the level of difficulty getting that trans to fit and function in a W-Body..

How noticeable is the handling difference? And couldn’t you just not remove the bracket and just take the bolt out that connects the arm to the bracket and swap the new one in

The bolt hits the frame rail, so the shackle has to be removed first. Handling difference won't be very noticeable with just this mod - it's a 3 step process. Trailing arms, and both sway bars are the comprehensive package.

Would something like this work for my 10th Gen? Also you should give the parts a quick hit of spray paint to help against rust. Like the bracket that holds the end of sway bar that attaches under wheel well. You the man shade!

I certainly could have painted them. What I should have done was replace them, but the fluid film at least bought me some time. These aren't for the 10th Gen. 10th Gen is on the Epsilon platform, so maybe search out parts that'll fit a Pontiac G6, Chevy Malibu, Saab 9-3, Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, etc. ZZP doesn't cater to that market AFAIK.. In fact, ZZP just catered to the 97-03 Grand Prix GTP community and it just so happens the chassis and suspension parts for those cars fit the 9th Gen Impala along with your grandma's 1998 Buick Century, and grandpa's 1991 Lumina..

Yea i got a comment..well a couple 1st i love yoir channel and cars 2nd how do i het info on an ss 06 impala trying to look up changing a balance in car just to see if i have to do what i think but i can not find anything ...i know its a hard car to work on but i can not be the only nut who likes that v8 torque....ps i also have an 08 3.9 very fast as well

First of all, I appreciate the support! 🍻 2nd, I read your comment over and over, and I'm wondering if you used text-to-speech when you said "changing a balance in car." I'm sorry, I need a little more clarity in what you're asking. Nah, you're not the only one, but those 9G SSes are getting harder and harder to find due to the transmissions prematurely grenading!

Thats replacement of the harmonic balancer of a 5.3 does it indeed need to remove the frame in order to raise body in ordet to have sufficient room to replace balancer

Once again sorry to take so long but i had a issue with rear wheel bearing so i been a little busy and after only 1 day of driving on a duralast gold...which i normally have good luck on front of monte carlos and pick ups i now have at least 1/16 of play in new bearning hub so back off and to a zone but thats why i took so long to respond well that and i went to look at 07 impala with 3.5 for my mom a good car ..it that motor does as good as 1 the 3.5 that was in camaro it will do just find for my mom....so to clarify im the balancer dude on 5.3 who is probably in for a world of hurt just to replace ...probably need to rebuild whole engine with 125000 on it THANKS FOR CHANNEL AND ALL USEFULL STUFF I NEVER THOUGHT OF I LOVE THE IDEAS may even steal a few Ray S.

Aah, I see. I haven't actually worked on a 5.3, so I can't give you an answer. I was able to remove the crank pulley on an 8th Gen Impala with the 3400 without dropping the cradle, but that isn't much of answer to your situation 😢 I'm extremely disappointed with Duralast Gold bearings. I thought they'd be good 'cause they're supposedly made by Timken (which used to be the Gold Standard - not so much lately from what I hear.) I got 2 years out of one with the 1 year warranty. For the cost/warranty/lifespan ratio they should be priced at half of what they're priced at!!
