@@jeffthewhiff It was because my best friend was well acquainted with his mother-in-law, Phyllis, who had a dress shop on Ventura Bl. and had made clothes for her. She pretended we weren't fans, so silly. We were dying after she spoke into the intercom at the gate, to have Davy suddenly come open it saying, "Hi! I'm David!" We'd been fans since age 13 and at 17 we tried hard to be "cool." It was a challenge!!! Davy led us up the long steps to the house and I followed his black boots in disbelief, then we sat talking to Phyllis down the hall from a little party Micky had going on and Davy and I made eye contact constantly from where we each sat. I looked like the lady who became his first wife, so I guess I was his type (!) but I was still too young to think of him as a real person and not my crush from the TV show. I have regretted that ever since! Thanks so much for responding, Jeff....it's a delight to share my little tale! Both times I met Davy he was incredibly sweet and polite.

I'd never seen this before...Davy was just a regular guy never patting himself on the back and thinking he was just so great like so many other performers....a very likeable and down to earth guy..wish i could have met him in person..I'll forever miss him...R.I.P. Davy

I was so happy when I meet David Jones in February of 2012. It was two weeks before he died. When I heard he had died it broke my heart ❤. I have a picture of myself and him together. RIP DAVID JONES YOU WILL BE MISSED VERY MUCH. I was happy that I got a chance to meet you.

Yes, he was a good guy. Completely unpretentious about the Monkees and acknowledging that they borrowed that madcap style from Hard Day's Night. And he made some music a lot of people loved, me included.

I always loved David Jones and his wonderful attitude. Such a great guy and a terrible loss when he passed. He was a wonderful human being and how could anyone not like him. Rest in peace Davy, you are really missed, along with Peter, and now Mike. You had the attitude and big heart though! 😔

Went to a Monkees concert in Roanoke, VA a long time ago with a high school classmate. His 2 daughters reluctantly went but had a fantastic time. RIP to the 3 who are gone but not forgotten.

Where was it? His second to last was at BB King's in NYC. I was supposed to go but the plans fell through. I remember there was another concert a day or 3 later & then he suddenly passed. I was so sad I missed that show.

Sadly, he probably knew that he had advanced cardiac disease, but never directly discussed it (even with Mickey Dolenz, his closest friend of the Monkees) but lived every day to the fullest. He died suddenly the following February (29th- leap year date) doing what he loved most- tending his beloved horses. He was a dark-eyed beauty as a young man, but in this live appearance- though seemingly healthy- the passage of time really showed his advancing age. Physical beauty is definitely a lost cause. You can only keep the old jalopy as healthy as you can, for as long as you can. The good looks will definitely slip away from you. But man, did I love the music of this very special bunch of fellahs. And now Peter is gone. What else can we do but remember and enjoy what they gave us. And so we will.

Monique Thomas: If the Dr's knew he had heart disease, how come he didn't get treated for it? They can fix blockages. What happen?
@PlumbPitiful5 жыл бұрын
There's no evidence at all that he knew about his condition in advance, other than genetics. His father also died of a heart attack around the same age. He probably knew that heart problems were hereditary

@@PlumbPitiful You have a point there. I thought that he more than likely knew something, but on the other side, probably didn't. It's very sad, though.

I think being out in the sun with his horses for so many years was hard on his skin. But, from what I've read, he'd had a physical recently and they'd told him his heart was in great shape. You just never know...🙏.....
@janeyd52802 жыл бұрын
He was only 66. You don't necessarily need to look ancient. His health and rigours of his job didn't help. There's plenty look younger in their 60s often taken for younger. He may have had something else going on. Rip 🙏 Davy Jones. Xx ps and yes you can still see his good looks.

justmadeit2 Global Warming? Heatwave in Manchester England? Somethings not right! That’s very strange! The climates changed or is changing because I’m hearing a lot about heatwaves in places that are known for chilly weather. Bizarre!
