Hope you are doing well. If anything, could you just post a sentence or two and let us know you are ok?

Nice video! Simple......you did some shooting, and btw good shots, highlighted your gun and what you added to it. I like how you kept the gun simple without all the additions, although some additions can certainly help in some situations. I'm a blued and wood guy myself. Great channel!

You have to remember to you're using hardcast bullets the 44 your using 300 and some grain bullet and the 10mm your using 200 grain bullet that's a huge difference especially in hardcast lot more density you should do the same grain bullet I would rather use a 10 mm for bear or self defense good video
@JaredCampbell-o3k3 күн бұрын
I think ill take 15 rds of 10mm over 6 rounds of 44. For 1 if you did have to reload a mag change would be way easier than fumbling with 6 individual cartridges. Also if you can put 5 rounds in it and it doesnt stop you have 10 more.

The only flaw in the test iscthe beat is static. At the distance you are from the target. you wouldn't be able to get the gun out of the holster, much less shoot

Hi! Thanks for the very clear, well-designed test video. I use 20 ga slug rounds for deer in MN in a rifled barrel bolt gun (Savage 220). We had a opening weekend full of rain this year. The next weekend one of our party had his first failure to fire in many years. Sealing with hot glue, caulk, or thicker nail polish sounds good. My question is this: My rounds have a plastic sabot around the bullet that should separate as soon as they exit the muzzle. My concern is that the sealer might interfere with that separation and throw off the external ballistics. Did your rounds have a sabot around the bullet? If so, did you find any sabots in the snow after your test? Mine are usually 10-15 feet in front of the muzzle. Thanks!

I think to make it fair, since you drew the pistols from holster, it would make sense to do this with the long guns slung over the shoulder, like you'd be carrying them if you were caught off guard.

No bud, it WAS the guns fault. Single action at the range only. Mine was stolen, went straight to town & got the redhawk. Next day in the bearstand a blackie came up w me so fast i only got 1 shot, point blank with the double action & her teeth trying to close on my face. Shed have got me with the single action..Have since switched to the 10mm. WAY BETTER ALL AROUND! 😁

Light load for something small,And close up. Like a Derringer. Maybe load your first shot with this.

Can this be used as the bullet you have in your chamber while the magazine holds regular rounds?
@josephhuston759025 күн бұрын
It could,but it won't eject for the next round to chamber. Until you hand rack,to remove that spent casing.

I carry a 500 Smith. I did carry a marlin guide gun in 45/70. Problem with the rifle is its for hunting. Filling feeders for deer its easier to grab my revolver than my rifle. Bear skin is thick. Penetration and shock is what im looking for. To be honest I'd carry both of your firearm. One for a pack of wolves and the 44 for the bear. ❤

Just saw the TDX version. Otterman Oitdoors and Bad Ace Tactical have really interesting upgrades for the little badger to checkout. Thanks for the review! Going to pickup the TDX version whenever it shows up in an AK shop for a lightweight backpack small game gun.

i prefer my h&r/nef 20ga and 410 single shotguns all made in steel and wood. added a buttstock shell holder, recoil pad and loop sling. choate makes a replacement survival-style stock, though i found that the thumbhole is awkward and slow to use.

I lived in Alaska for 25 years and am moving back soon. For self defense against bears nothing beats a 12 gauge shotgun but they're not practical in many situations. My close quarters bear gun is a Redhawk in .44 mag loaded with 300 gr Corbon hardcast bullets. When I first started shooting this pistol I assumed I would need to put 3 rounds minimum on target in rapid succession. I'm reasonably strong and don't have weak wrists so I say with all seriousness that shooting a magnum revolver bangbangbang with any kind of accuracy is difficult. My Redhawk had rosewood grips when I bought it and after a couple of boxes of through it and horrible follow up shot accuracy I put Hogue rubber grips on it and that made all the difference. My practice protocols went as follows (you have to go somewhere private--Rabbit Creek won't allow these drills) 1. Simulated fishing scenario Set up a paper plate at 7 paces and run quick draw and fire drills from various clock positions Using a chest holster because that's what I'm wearing while fishing I start with a long stick in my right hand to simulate a fishing rod At the call of BEAR!! I drop the rod, draw as I pivot towards the target and fire 3 rounds in about 1.5 seconds. Shot 1 will be on target. Shots 2 & 3 drift high and right with 3 often missing. I had to train myself to consciously push down and left against the recoil to get all three shots on paper I practiced shooting from 3 o'clock through 9 o'clock 2. Simulated hiking drill Same concept but while wearing a 50 pound pack. I would set my targets along a trail through a patch of alders or willows (taking extreme caution that there was no one around (Knik River/Jim Creek was my spot)) Targets set 4 yards back off the trail and assuming a charge from 3 or 9 o'clock. These were two shot drills. I'm glad I did them and kept up annually because this is definitely a perishable skill. I'll keep my Redhawk but my next bear pistol will be an LAR Grizzly in .45 Long Colt

What I've arrived at, after many years of personal experience amongst a whole lot of really big bears, is that you want to be able to go from zero to "shooting the jungle scene" from Predator, in as close to instant as possible. I've arrived at a piston driven 308 with a 10mm auto backup, with a razor sharp medieval dagger as a backup to my backup. I also run spray and "other things" in the less lethal part of the kit. People who "know better" don't know what they're talking about.
@chrisg.5577Ай бұрын
Ridiculous comparison, why would you want to take six rounds from a slower shooting gun, when you have 15 from a semi automatic.
