Have you ever trained a pure bred Brittany puppy to obey "place" outdoors? e.g. in the presence of birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc? This little hunter I have is a challenge!

Thank you for such a concise, clear video to explain this! This now raises the question for me - how to switch sides easily? Because I walk my dog on each side throughout our walk.

I have the exact same issue. My 5 month old GSD goes crazy outside. Inside the house she has limited area to play .. so she has a lot of pent up enegey, but outside it's too dangerous to let her free. Gonna rewatch the video again.

I have always had small older dogs. My last dog died of old age and two weeks ago I adopted a two year old Bully who is very active. They gave me a cloth lead but I feel that it was not effective but I also felt it was me. You just showed me it was the combo. I'm getting a real leash with this mechanism and we will practice this week. Thank you Sir for explaining not so clearly. For safety sale when we are outside by this is so important. Thank you

Any tips for my dog that scratches at it? We just got one and our first session (3 minutes total just to get use to it) he would stop walking every few turns to sit and scratch at it. Maybe just need to get use to it?

A perfectly good explanation. But your dog has a thick neck all the way down. Not all dogs are like that. You can put the loop up high, but as soon as they walk ahead of you the loop will slip down the neck. In the video your dog walks perfectly by your side. My dog walks in front of me, and as he's a gun dog he's always sniffing the ground.

Ceasar saw the suffering of dogs misunderstood, the suffering of human ignorance & confusion, Regarding dogs experience & confusion. He understood that he knew truths that could help. He knew he could help. So he worked with all his heart & his circumstances to get himself into a position to help alleviate this suffering of both dogs & dog owners. Helping others, nurturing others, this is spirituality straight from the others-centered love & nurturing of others by educating the humans, that Jesus came with love to teach humans, which is the only way of bringing wholeness of Life to us, will be that humans learn this way of living with love that nurtures respect & understanding for each other.

Great interview if you want to learn about wolves. Dogs are not wolves. Dogs may have a fluid hierarchical behavior which changes based on circumstances. Dogs do not exist in packs. Packs work together to accomplish a goal. Dogs are scavengers. It appears with this interview, you’ve supported everything the Force-Free community has been saying for years. Additionally, there is no such thing as interspecies dominance. Dogs do not look to you as their leader. You are merely the provider of resources, which can serve to create emotional bonds with their humans. If you think you’re strengthening your bond with your dog by punishing it, think again.

Fascinating that's your interpretation of the interview. Also, a bunch of claims you made that are completely false. I've surrendered to the fact that some people will just not get it. If you believe all the things you said in your comment, so be it. I respectfully completely disagree with and have no interest in trying to convince you of anything. Wush you all the best, sincerely.

Thank you for such a clear, easy demo. I feel inspired that I can teach this. I have 2 doodles 3 yo and 6 mo. Both are doing well w steps 1 and 2. Working on staying in place and adding distractions. I don’t have a ton of space. Do you recommend separate places (beds) for each dog or is okay for them to share a large, elevated bed when I give command. They are both excitable when people come in or if someone knocks/rings bell so I’d generally be giving it to both at same time. Do you have any videos on eliminating nuisance barking? The 6mo is a rescue and a barker.

Helpful. Thanks. Is there any difference or do you have any preference between a slip collar and slip leash?

I recently hired a dog trainer for my 1-year-old dog. The trainer gave me a slip lead leash and taught me how to use it. I have been using it perfectly and my dog is now well-behaved. However, the trainer warned me that if I switch to using a harness and leash, my dog may become alpha again and start barking excessively and pulling. My dog also suffers from anxiety and stress, so I am hesitant to continue using the slip lead leash for a long time due to comfort issues. I want to build a better bond with my dog without relying on the slip lead leash. I am worried that if I switch to using a harness, my dog will bark at random things and start pulling again. Can you tell me if using a slip lead leash for a long time is harmful to my dog, as the trainer suggested? Thank you.

I don't need to constantly give my dog treats while she's offleash, this is probably a good way to teach offleash skills in the first place, but you shouldn't need treats after the skills are learned.

I am not a natural leader and have experienced a number of unbalanced "leaders" that are often ineffective and trauma inducing. This has pushed me into leadership roles to attempt to overcome bad leadership. I am a tremendous follower of great leaders, but in a world that doesn't value excellent leadership and the art of leading with a serving heart, it is difficult at best to get to fulfillment that comes from a "meh" led pack.
