Hi Erick, thanks for the video! I'm running the 100K next month. Are the trails pretty technical with lot of rocks and tree roots or are they pretty runnable? Thx!

Hello, the trails are not overly technical. Part of the steep single track section on the Skyline Trail is a bit tricky if you're running in the dark. Bring a backup headlamp. Great course overall. All the best.

Oh hey! that's me at 1:06 in the blue shit + vest and grey shorts in front of you! Great job finishing! and great effort. Stumbling across this brought back some good moments of the race. I made it to the finish line 18 minutes past the cut off T.T

Hi Erik! We were chatting near the first summit of the Diez Vista 50k yesterday and you told me about this movie. You did a nice job with this! Concise editing; and your point about how we can all affect each other’s outcome by just sharing what we’re going through definitely hit home for me. Hope to see you on the trails again soon sometime 🏃‍♂️

disagree with training. i did 6 weeks of 20 mile runs, prior long runs were 12-14 miles. 50 mile weeks in total when i spontaneously trained for a marathon. ran 744 pace for 44 miles on a partyl trialed path- mainly road and pavement, but a few pieces of trail, wasnt at race effort. if yu can run 10 you can run 50. highdistance gets too much respect. id rather go for a base/z2 40 miler than do 20 miles at marathon pace, i know which ones tougher.

Great work on the run and putting this together! It almost makes me want to do one of these ridiculously long runs, but it seems so daunting. Also, there are some beautiful shots and scenery in the film. Do you take moments to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings while you are clearly exhausted and fighting for the finish line?

feedback: the parts where the video goes into slow motion, it's really hard on the eyes. (not the one when it's at further distance but when it was focused on the legs)

Started trail running after I saw an older fellow come running down a hiking trail I was going up with my family with. The dude had a grey beard and was $@$&& ripped… you could feel his energy! I said to my wife, “I want to be THAT!!” That was over a year ago. My legs… I never knew at 47 my legs could look like that! My shins are muscular! My whole body has new muscles, especially around my chest and abdomen. Wow! I feel flipping great! Aaaaand all my knee and hip pain are gone! GONE!!!!!

Nice film - I do a bit of running, mainly road work just for fitness, but since I have been doing a lot of fell walking over the past year, naturally thoughts turned to fell running. I have never run more than a half marathon distance before but am planning to run our Yorkshire Three Peaks in summer at 26 miles and 5200 ft (1585m) of climbing - I turned 60 last week so we'll see how that pans out! - What was the longest training run you did before doing the 50? :-)
@et2media
@et2media Жыл бұрын
I ran a 30km trail race on the same route a year earlier. Longest run during training was about the same - 30 km. The key is doing some long runs back to back on weekends (20 to 30 km). I got a great training plan from Ridgeline Athletics: www.ridgelineathletics.com/. It was really helpful.

Wait, What? Why do we Low Carb Kero/Carnivore need Carbs?! Ever? Please explaine that. How many Low Carb athletes won the Western States 100 Miler? Check it out. There Tim Tollefson, my coach Zach Bitter and others that I have currently forgotten. Ask Louise Blais, Please.

@@progbass56 Indeed, it is possible to keto-adapt and perform well in low to moderate intensity aerobic events for some athletes, and of course there is an advantage of not running out of your energy substrate (fat vs glycogen) but the topic of this video was reducing the sensation of perceived effort. The brain preferentially prefers carbohydrates. During exercise, the ingestion of carbohydrate does immediately reduce the sensation of perceived effort which can be a mental advantage when an athlete is trying to finish a long endurance event. The process of keto-adaptation is difficult from a perceived effort standpoint and athletes must be mentally strong to endure the transition. I imagine many of those athletes would not need a video like this :) I am happy to hear that you have had success with your lower carb diet, only a small percentage of athletes have been able to.
