I purchased a v1 of the buckmaster 12g roughly 1.5 years ago in the black synthetic with a 28inch barrel and I had it detonate out in the field whilst using it. The tube had appeared to come loose over time whilst using it (I would always make sure it was tight every time I would take it out of the safe) and it also damaged the internal threads in the tube/piston. This caused gun powder and debris to fly into my eyes which led me going into hospital to get my eyes flushed out. I also had a close friend have the identical shotgun in the wood grain finish and like mentioned, it split the timber where the button release is. Both examples happened within 2nd/3rd time of either gun being used and both had less than 100 rounds put through them. I would personally stay away from these shot guns, although the concept for these guns are a great idea and the button release is in a great spot, these shotguns are just cheap and nasty. No firearm should have substantial faults like so and clearly haven't gone through the adequate testing and I simply do not trust the v2 to be much better at all. Such a shame as they have a lot of potential.

Hi mate, very sorry to hear about your experience. I need to clarify that the firearm you bought was brought in by another distributor before we took on the distribution. We have only ever sold the gen 2 and not any of the gen 1 versions. By the sounds of the gun, yours is one of the very first ones that made it into the country. All I can say is that we test our guns properly to ensure safe and reliable use. The gen 2 has a lot of improvements and has as far as we know addressed any shortcomings of previous versions. We stand behind our product. I understand, based on your experience, that you do not trust the gen 2, that's a fair feeling. I do have to stress that the gen 2 is by far our most reliable firearms that we that sell. I hope you made a full recovery and that you got your money back as well, as no one should have to go through that experience.

Similar to how Warwick made a lighter version of their rifle, is there any way to drop the weight without compromising quality?
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 4 күн бұрын
Yes, there is. You can reduce the weight by taking out more alloy, however that will increase machining time and wear, therefore the gun will cost more. We are looking also at different ways of making the parts, I think it will take some time but the current version is what it is and is locked in. If the current version is too heavy for your liking, I suggest the Chimera instead.

Will be interesting to see how the box mag fed Turkish shotguns function - the big American manufacturers haven't yet got those hard-to-feed flat ended, rimmed 12ga shells to work reliably from box mags. Tube mags are proven in quality generations-old pumps and autoloaders. We find shotguns marginal for culling already, in fact Cat C gear is a waste of time and a big compromise, however the streamlined tube-fed shotgun design handles well out of cabs, no big mags catching on doors, shirt sleeves and steering wheels. The only benefit is that they are fast to unload the firearm when coming back in, but the malfunctions and ergonomic bastardry outweigh that benefit. I would rather have a 7-shot tube mag and a few PVC speedloaders beside the seat. Indeed, it is interesting to see the opinions of others with varying experiences.
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 12 күн бұрын
Great insights! I can see the mag fed version work well of the back of the car rather than in cab especially for slow reloaders like myself. I agree, in cab a tube would be better. I personally don't hunt with shotguns, I am more of a rifle guy, so I am more looking forward to the chimera as my daily weapon of choice.

If chasing in the back of a car the detachable mag will get in the road of everything. Be better with a longer mag then load 2-3 at a time with one hand, why fumble around with mags?
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 12 күн бұрын
The 10 mag might be too long, but the 5 mag should work smoothly. I personally hate loading shotty tube mags....I suck at it, so i would rather reload an exchangeable mag while my mate plasters over the paddock. But everyone is different

Agreed, biggest issue is that just because you own guns, that doesnt mean your highest priority when it comes to voting is a party that is pro guns. Most people vote for job security and income. Something I believe the shooting fishers farmers party needs to learn and rebrand. But thats just my opinion. The SSAA is useless and the only guys doing something is the shooters union. However, the real mussle of distributors are not united and in support of the sport but their interests. So you have a lot of fractured parties. No central organisation. @MrSiLenTb88

@AustralianSportingAgencies WA wasn't told lever release firearms would be banned and overnight there were. It is now after the buyback so there will be no money exchanging hands they will just have to be turned in for ZERO. Are you even aware? I assume you just don't care what is happening in WA. It'll directly affect you're sales you probably should do some research.
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 12 күн бұрын
The first "buy back" was a voluntary buy back which was not based on the value of the gun. You could choose to use it if you were happy with the offer. Basically it was a legal offer. Take it or leave it. When it comes to a ban and consequently a forceful taking of property, the government will have to compensate the person at a fair market value. Hence, there will be a buyback at market value and not at a random price set by the government. If that's not the case, the government is breaking the law and you have grounds to take them to court. Think about this way, do you think they can just take your house and not compensate at fair value when they build a highway ? So I would not panic and sit tight until that buyback is announced. We are meeting with our qld police leadership next week to discuss their actions here. In the meantime, WA residents should vote out their current government.

@@bigwheels0354Also WA has always done their own thing with firearms ownership whereas every other state has always aligned with the NFA. What you're saying would involve every other state changing the way they operate for the first time in 30 years. We're all worried and pissed off at what WA is doing but it's doomerism to say that the other states are going to copy WA when they never have before.

Really interesting torture test, designing a new firearm can be challenging. Makes you appreciate what Stoner and Kalashnikov achieved. Does the gas port hole inside the bore have sharp edges? If the edges were bevelled, would this help to cut down on copper getting stripped from the projectile? Or would this mess with the bullet travel or gas flow too much? How is the piston system going to handle fine dust in the outback? Would it be too difficult to design an adjustable gas block, so you could open it up a little to 'adverse' setting when the copper or dust starts to build up? Even shut it off when you want single shot. Have you thought about replaceable steel rails inside the receiver for the bolt carrier to ride on? Thanks for the update, cheers.

Didn't mean to create extra work for you over xmas time because of my rambling on your vid. I'm sure Rick and Jim have carefully thought about each design element and studied other manufacturers' solutions to problems. Especially reliable gas pistons like the AKM and HK 416 etc. Didn't mean to tie up too much of your time answering everything I wrote. I don't actually have any direct metallurgy or gunsmithing knowledge. It's just exciting to see this product get developed, so I hope all the right decisions get made. Cheers.

How would you describe the recoil impulse of this rifle compared to a manual action? I'd imagine it has less felt recoil because the gas system absorbs some of the energy, but I imagine the bolt flying back might make it feel almost like there's two impulses? How controllable is the muzzle rise? Just a question out of curiosity, I suppose

Also, the bolt doesn't slam the back as the springs slow it down and it slows down when picking up a round when going home.

I hear you mate, the rifle was going to be ready within 2 weeks of opening the customisation, which would have given people enough time to make the choice. Would have certainly waited with the customisation if we would have known.

That said, it's kind of become a thing for stuff like pre-orders and beta test revenue to keep products in development rather than having investors/stakeholders pull the plug before anything hits the shelves. What better way to prove that there's a market for a product than to have already sold more than you have made? Think of it less like a purchase and more like an investment in the domestic firearms industry and what will hopefully become Australia's version of the AR; everyone owns one and it's all they post videos about.
