I’ve just had a shop built with 15’ walls and the roller marks are all over the place. They’re trying to tell me it’s because I chose a “Pearl” finish. I knew they didn’t do it correctly. I’ve painted my own house a few times and it’s all about what hi just did and taking pride in a persons results. Also, I liked and subscribed.
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
It sounds like they were trying to lie about the finish to cover their arse, sounds like bad painters to me.

I don't completely agree with this. I would shallow fill it first to allow for for shrinking then fill it a second time using the method you've just used.
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
Yes you could do that and it would depend on how deep the crack is as it will shrink. These cracks were reasonably shallow. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

Good method, can you tell me if it’s ok to dip in go directly when you just ended rolling I was thought to go 50 \50 all the time maybe that 50 \ 50 does not include when you freshly dip and I also do it with 18 inch 3/8 and it looked ok when I started directly on where I just rolled two lines I start 3rd with full dip and work forward then go back and make sure it’s not heavy there is this ok or big Jo Jo

Technically no but a light sand is a good idea to remove and grit and little lumpy bits. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

Hi could you please help me? I want to paint my walls But have no idea where to end the line of paint?? 🤦🏼♀️ My walls CURVE into the ceiling where it then meets an artex border I hope that description makes sence because it is quite tricky to explain. I have uploaded a very short video to show what I mean. The more I look at it the more it hurts my head as to where the new wall colour should end????? 🤦🏼♀️ Thank you so much for reading
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
So you have a cove that blends walls and ceilings into one, I would try to paint the walls up to where the cove starts then the cove would become ceiling colour. Not sure what you mean by artex border. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

Do you have to sand primer behind the final coat on wood
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
You should sand every coat of paint you apply except the final coat of course. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

11 inch 😂 we use 18 fool
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
lol, 18 inch is fine for new house's but I prefer 14 inch as they are not as heavy, they get down between window and door frames that are close to walls easier (don't need to roll sideways in as many places which is a pain) and also easier to roll ceilings with. The average person watching this would find it difficult to use an 18 or even a 14 inch roller and I'm supprised at the number of people who use 9 inch rollers. For rolling walls I would recommend using at minimum a 11 inch roller, you should be able to get enough paint on without it dry off on you, if you use a 9 inch roller you are asking for troble, it just takes too long to get the paint on the walls. You do it that way because you're down under and everything is backwards. The rest of the world is trim first. Actually it is ceiling first, then trim, then walls, then baseboards.
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
I understand if you are spraying trim that you would paint trim first but if brushing then walls followed by trim. Nothing worse then acidentlly hitting your trim with a ladder while cutting walls in, also means you need to tape base boards so you don't splatter them with wall paint. It doesn't make sense to paint trim first, this is the high light of the paint job and you dont want to be damaging it while painting walls. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

@howtopaintinfo How do you "damage " trim after it is painted with semi gloss? Baseboards are always last. No need for tape.

put some effort in to it, try to roll faster, putting paint on fast is better as it has less time to dry while you are applying it. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

You explain well and good speaking pace. Thank you for making this video. I'm interested in that scraper which seems good for scraping really stuck on things - where do you get yours from or is there a specific name for that type of scraper?

When using a closed frame roller do you apply even pressure or do you apply more or less pressure to one side of the roller.
@howtopaintinfoКүн бұрын
You should apply even pressure and only apply pressure to one side if you are close to an adjoining wall or on an uneven surface. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe.

I use the hose spin method, but I alternate between spinning the roller as fast as possible, then I direct the hose back and forth along the axis of the roller as it decelerates, forcing water into the nap. Then I switch to spinning again. A few cycles and it’s clean.
