Watched a lot of this man's videos, no messing around straight talking top notch painter. Exactly the same methods and set up as we use over here in Ireland. I'd have this man workn beside me anyday of the week over half the shite talking Muppets you see on this channel.

Hi mate thanks for your videos there excellent. Could i ask you if i want to caulk between skirting and wall do i need to tape the skirting twice as in tape it, caulk ,then remove tape and then I'd need to tape it all again when it's dry in order to paint the wall ? Is there an easy way i dont have to tape twice? Thank you for your help
@howtopaintinfo4 жыл бұрын
Normally caulking should be done before walls are painted then you can be a bit messy with it. With caulking you don't need to tape acrylic sealants because they wipe of with water unlike silicone, silicone needs to be tape in most cases. So try applying the sealant neatly then wipe of excess, if you need to tape wall , tape it first , caulk neatly, paint then remove tape. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

Hi mate . Im becoming more and more confused when it comes to painting over water and oil based paints. Ive been told by a painter that i should always use an oil based undercoat for skirting and its ok to use waterbased paint over that and yet you cannot paint waterbased paint over previously painted oil based paint ? Isnt oilbased undercoat and oilbased finished coat both oilbased ??. If i wanted to paint waterbased satin over old oil based gloss do i need to undercoat ive been told satin is self undercoating?? Sorry for all the questions just confused 🙄

Hi i was just wondering is it possible to paint over skirting and trim that have been previously painted with oil based gloss using a water based gloss ? Thanks again Mick
@howtopaintinfo4 жыл бұрын
You can if the oil paint is old and use a suitable undercoat so it sticks to the gloss, and make sure you give the gloss a good sand. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

@@howtopaintinfo can bleach be used also to clean celing and walls (plasterboard) that have nicotine stains and odour or does it need to be cleaned at all ? can you just paint over with emulsion as normal. Sorry for all the questions but i find you to be the best at explaining things compared to anyone else on here . Thank you so much Mick

You can use bleach on previously painted plasterboard, it should help a bit and yes you should wash off nicotine stains before you paint or the stain can bleed through.

Hi There, Just found your channel and love it, subscribed! I live in Perth, WA, noticed you haven't posted a video for a while, maybe you would consider doing a video on brush and roller cover selection. I currently use the cheapie polyester roller covers from Bunnings, I usually use Dulux as have tried cheaper brands such as British Paints which were woeful needing up to 4 or 5 coats for a reasonable finish. In your opinion any cheaper paints available which are as good as Dulux. Same company owns both brands... Thanks for a great channel and hope you keep posting...

I had a customer that painted one of his rooms before calling me in , he used cheap paint and it needed three coats to cover. I used the same colour but in Dulux paint and it covered easily in 2 coats. Cheaper paints use cheaper materials so the quality isn't as good. Dulux trade line is a good quality paint and is cheaper then their premium range. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

howtopaintinfo Videos are very helpful. Can you tell what paint brushes you using to cut in interior walls like plasterboard and textured like cement rendered. What brand do you like? Looks like you brushes cover very well
@howtopaintinfo5 жыл бұрын
I use lots of different types from Purdy, Rotacota and Monarch. The brush size I often use is a 63 mm brush for cutting in. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe

You can always pick the painters - why do you wear white overalls etc?? Good video!
@howtopaintinfo5 жыл бұрын
There are lots of theories about this and I'm not sure which one is true. The two that i often heard about was that white was a cool colour for when working outside and also light colours didn't show as much on the white overalls. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe

Excellent advice,if you are painting interior walls would you do cut ins before or after rolling and would you do cut ins on both coats?
@howtopaintinfo4 жыл бұрын
Always cut in final coat before rolling and normally you should cut in twice. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
