It was fun to look back at one of our writing sessions and the Tegan & Sara book event! 😊 These writer’s nights have been so helpful, and so much fun too. I really enjoyed your Halloween story! And I liked seeing more about the writing process that went into it. The book event and the whole day was so fun! I’m reading their other graphic novel, Jr High, and I can’t wait to read Crush too. Oh those day-after muscle pains after an intense workout! They can really throw me off and make me not want to move. Wonderful vlog, as always! 😊

bus stop in the rain is classic spooky vibes I think the fan-idol (term used loosely) relationship dynamic is an interesting one. In general, I feel like idols are best left in their own bubbles and not interacted with per se (because then you realise they're human too, with all the faults and flaws that entails)

I had no idea that Tegan and Sara published books that's so cool! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I ever came face to face with one of my role models either. I'm terrified of them letting me down because what if I built them up too much in my mind?? They are just regular people like everyone else and you know what they say never meet your heroes... but that's such a negative way to think I know lol its such a conflicting thing. Also, I love your short story idea! Such a cute concept 💖

Thanks for sharing your writing goals, Nicole! I’m so excited to work on and eventually read our Halloween short stories in writer’s group! 🎃 I also find that challenges or structured plans propels my writing forward, but I think it’s best that I go back and forth between pushing myself for a bit and then taking it slow instead of having a consistent writing routine. I also think it’s good to take a break from writing when needed to focus on other things. The writing will always be there when we return, and we are still writers in the meantime. ✏️

Always look forward to your videos! You used such a beautiful notebook! (I get too "scared" to use such nice ones.) I've found the key to getting myself to work on the second draft of my story is to read. As soon as I start reading, I'll get the motivation to write. As for scheduling... if I skip one day, I feel like I've failed entirely. So having set deadlines doesn't work for me. (Also, those hobo mainichi dairies are cute but expensive lol... and I live in Japan!)

@@romeoandthechickenfeather I always look forward to your comments! 😊Thank you so much though, it means a lot and I appreciate you being here! I think nice things are meant to be used! Like candles too and it’s a “waste” to not use them haha! We should enjoy them while we can even if it is messy. A friend gave me the notebook so I know she’d want me to use it! Reading is a good motivator! I know what you mean about the scheduling and when you miss a day how it feels like a failure 😢 so far doing this scheduling but treating it more like a to-do item rather than an “event” has worked well! If I miss it one day, I just move it to the next. The Hobonichis are a splurge! But I have to say they’re very high quality. And I got a good price for buying them later in the year 🤣 The shipping to Canada is something else 😭 you are lucky to be in Japan!

@@timewithnicole I find with notebooks it helps to get the first mistake out of the way - then I can let go a bit haha Thinking about it as a to-do is a good idea. So much diary choice here! I buy my mum a dairy every year and send it back to her. It's always shocking to see how much more expensive Japanese products are when they've been imported to other countries (though overall the cost of living is very cheap here)
