never trust anyone there, if someone will say: - you can do that later its the biggest red flag!! that may never come that later -all lies who represent seller -lies, add will lie like for water they will promise 3 wells (one may be normal ) and one usual like bigger pool may stay empty, "river close" yes close if drive with car it never will be close you cant river by "due water save" laws. you have a spring water source 80 may dry out same as small rivers like -when hiring a lawyer to sign a contract save you and the lawyer if some crap happens,-the lawyer can forget " need to do things" like don't check for inheritance, licenses , permits like you can buy land and on that land you cant build a home, or your home on your land isn't your home and all deal become extortion, property have unpaid depths -and that will become your problem-double charge from lawyer charges you 700 euro and surprise at end deal lawyer ask for another 4% of all deal value because somewhere in corner writer in Portuguese you may need to pay firma representatives FEES* -it's like buy the golden chain from gypsies and at home you in pocked you find the copper ring and no valet -avoid rustic* those is highly hard to deal or all is banned there -not matter what others say just avoid. sane as buying ex-property in woods and bushies no matter what code you will get even 1951 place can be banned from activities there by camara, also watch other videos like 12 things to to have their property -have some small livable place with a license if faster and cheaper than get all licenses by self 5k property cost just 5k not without reason

First, there is no such thing as " expats"; they are immigrants. Secondly, Portugal is full and the Portuguese are starting to resent immigrants. In the countryside, where I live, most of these immigrants from Northern countries do no integrate, do no learn the language to fluency and there's friction with the locals. To all the foreigners thinking about moving here, don't bother. Stay away because you are not welcome. Finally, you'd be better off switching to Portuguese, your accent is awful and hard to understand.

No need for a job - No need for a police check - no need for qualifications.... just tell the clowns 🤡 at SEF you're a single male from Pakistan, Bangladesh or India and you'll be given the 'red carpet' treatment!! And of course it's not 'really' SEF's fault - it's ALL part of a directive being driven by the EU and George Soros - to dilute the sovereignty of nations. Draghi former ECB president was recently quoted as stating, there will no longer be any individual sovereignty of European Countries- it will become a single State. That's why Viktor Orban is standing up to the EU and saying, proper controlled and vetted immigration is always welcome - but not an open door policy to just walk right in. I know many many foreigners in PT who took years of hard work and dedication to earn the right to be PT citizen. This behaviour now completely denigrates and insults their hard work and efforts

huge influx in immigration = rising housing prices, crime and societal disintegration. Portugal needs Chega to sort it all out.

Too many goals. If you set 30 objectives, you will achieve none, if you set 5, you may achieve 4. The Portuguese already know this because the words "we will see . . " are wisdom created by past projects from mercurial politicians and regret felt by the people when nothing is delivered.

Based on the country’s history, I’d say they’re Catholic (if they aren’t mosques or temples). Plus, it’s Northern Portugal. Just my guess. ⛪️🔔

Eu countries are fee prisons, requiring expensive and tedious permits, with time limits for completion even if Pedro doesn't show up on time, then there are all sorts of rules and compliance issues in regards what you are allowed to do on "your" property that nobody but those who find out the hard way will discover. Only simps need apply.

I often think Wales and Portugal have a lot in common, Romanised, Celtic origin and a huge dominant neighbour on the doorstep, yet the identity is still intact, we do things our own way.

I really enjoy your content. What in your opinion are some of the better locations for being not dependent on a car day to day, but also avoiding all the very tourist heavy locations? As a calibration, I've been to Lisboa, Porto, Braga, Guimarães and Coimbra. Of those, I liked Guimarães the best, but was not certain about the ability to get by without a car day to day.

Honestly, I would have bought a property there already if there wasn't the fear of the portugese legal system and real estate market. Despite that all that jazz, Portugal truly is a wonderful country. And thanks for this great video!

This is very informative, thank you. I am however curious. Do the services offered come with guarantees? For example is the inspectors service or lawyers service guaranteed? If yes, how so? If no, what happens if they make a mistake/error/omission etc? Is there recourse? Do they have liability insurance? Thank you

Ana, thanks for sharing your weekend trip experience! Most of us (tourists) who come to Portugal for holidays for a week or two only know Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. It was nice to hear from you about smaller and less visited places. Next year we'll definitely explore North and Central part of the country 👍.

How much income tax on pension for EU national in Portugal??

My husband and I moved to Porto from the Seattle area in 2022. In 2023, our private health insurance was raised 12% and this year was raised 20%. At this rate of year-over-year increase, in just a few years, Portuguese private insurance will surpass the US in terms of cost. Medicare Part B increases about 2-5% year-over-year and same with Obamacare. Currently, Portuguese private insurance is still very affordable; but given the trajectory, it will not be for long. Our broker has no answers, except that all companies are raising rates to unprecedented highs for vague reasons. Michael from Serenity told us that this may be the new normal moving forward due to systemic changes that are desperately needed but not being addressed in the medical system here in Portugal. Our experience with the medical care here in Portugal is superior to the US, but I want to paint a realistic picture for people considering coming here. (We prefer not to solely use the public system because it’s already overburdened; and as relatively privileged immigrants, we want local people's needs to be prioritized.)
@SavvyCatRealtyАй бұрын
Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate your realistic perspective on the rising costs of private health insurance in Portugal. Indeed, we absolutely agree that the reasons for increasing the rates seem to be rather vague. More and more people are resorting to private healthcare in Portugal due to public's system 'catastrophic' state and long waiting lists that can take YEARS. Its seems that's the main justification for insurances to raise their rates. Thank you once again for sharing!
