BTW This person wanted to put me in touch with a real estate agent and charge me 150 Euros to have a consult with that agent. I'm sure there are plenty of agents there who will do their clients work without charge to me. . I think that I could find an agent on my own and skip this fee. I find this to be a cost that is unnecessary and cashing in on foreigners interest in buying property in Portugal. It seems that everyone is an authority at a cost on the internet. There are plenty of people there such as lawyers, architects, notaries, tax accounts that can provide correct service at standard prices.

Hello Eric! There seems to be a misunderstanding regarding our services. However, we did not request a 150€ fee to put you in contact with a real estate agent. In our email exchange, you asked more information about living in Caldas da Rainha and we recommended our 'Location Advisory' service in which we schedule a call with one OUR team members who represent the area (they are not real estate agents). The fee requested was 74€. This fee represents our team member's time for the call (as they usually have busy schedules) as well as preparation time. We apologize if we weren't clear on this, but no where in our email reply we mentioned a 150€ fee to put you in contact with a real estate agent.

@@SavvyCatRealty Yes, I was wrong it was 74 euros, but it didn't say what that 74 euros covers and what I would be getting in return for the money. It was just some tiered "Location Advisory service" which was very vague and I felt like a mark. I don't know Ana from Adam or in the case from Eve. This is again the cult of personality and "experts" on the internet cashing in on the heavy interest in living in Portugal. Ana may know her stuff, however, this comes across as pay to play scenario. I can see paying lawyers, notaries, architects, zoning agencies, etc as I would pay here. But a tertiary person just on the internet with little or no transparency, and who knows if she's even licensed to provide cogent legal or financial information is pretty sketchy.

What are the costs of living there, potential neighbourhoods that fit your criteria, where to shop, where are the medical services, etc as well as discussing if our clients' budget and requirements are reasonable. This information is clear in our service page. Eric, you reached out to us in hoping to get assistance in finding you a suitable rental property in Caldas da Rainha and we were very transparent with you because your budget was very low for your requirements and location of interest, so we kindly asked you if its a possibility for your to be flexible in either your budget or requirements. We do not control the rental market prices available, nor we gain anything in requesting a higher budget - we simply assess what's available according to your budget. We also recommended our Location Advisory call because you specifically requested more information about what is like living in Caldas and that's exactly what this service is. We request a very reasonable fee for this call, which you promptly decided not to continue further email discussion. We would like to remind you that in our very first email reply to you, we also recommended a FREE clarification call to discuss our services, which you ignored. Further, Savvy Cat Realty works directly with highly respected legal team and financial consultant. We never - neither in our very brief email exchange or in any of our videos - claimed that Ana is a legal or financial expert. We don't know where, upon seeing we requesting a fee of 74€ for one of our services, you came into the conclusion we are not transparent and trying to scam people.

Thanks for the video. It is not clear for me what do we consider as "farm"? Furthermore selling produce requires license and licensed kitchen makes also not much sense. What would be very informative is to present "farm" by examples. Let say, many people scenario as farm is producing vegetables like onion, garlic, potato, tomato, etc. so, one has let say 150kg extra tomato and wants to sell locally, you need license and licensed kitchen??? What if someone has 100L olive oils to sell, license?? Sorry but sound insane. I think most people are aware of the fact when you want to sell processed food from your farm then you definitely need certain things in place but also shouldn't be too complicated. I don't really see how complicated would be to sell canned tomato sauce or fruit jam. If you raise chicken to sell meat birds and eggs it is common sense to have the place inspected frequently by veterinair and meet certain hygiene and feeding criterias. I'm also not sure where is the threshold for bottling and selling your own wine? 1000L vine production is still more of a hobby not really a production. Don't get me wrong but it would be very informative to understand these topics over examples. I think we can agree on one thing: every government on this planet exist to make people life difficult, extort money over taxation and make impossible to be self-reliant.

To clarify, the need for licenses and regulations often depends on the scale and nature of the agricultural activity. While selling fresh produce directly from the farm may not always require extensive permits, processing and selling processed goods like canned tomato sauce or fruit jam typically do involve additional licensing due to food safety regulations. Regarding olive oil production, the regulations vary, but in many cases, a license or permit is indeed required, primarily to ensure food safety standards are met. As for wine production, the threshold for requiring a license typically depends on the volume produced and local regulations. In Portugal, for example, the threshold for commercial wine production is usually higher than for personal or hobbyist production. We absolutely agree - a lot of these regulations and taxation can be rather burdensome for folks who are simply trying to be more self-reliant. Thank you again for your feedback! 😊

@@SavvyCatRealty Maybe it would be a great idea to redo this video with some examples so one can understand more about how much it is worth to invest. I consider 1-3ha as a hobby farm because even in central Europe you can not survive from the produces from small land. Also would be great to know what volumes in average require permit or license. For example Joe and Kate has 100 olive trees with 150-200 liter olive oil annually then if they want to sell do they need worry about license or permit? If I'm not mistaken the price of olive oil is about 8-10 euro per liter which gives, best case scenario, 2000 euro in monies. Now, if Joe and Kate have to pay 20% tax on income then they should be able to claim the expenses for producing this amount of oil, no? If this is the case then why not just burn it winter time or mix with diesel and use it in the tractor? Please, be more specific because what you told so far is rather depressing and not worth the consideration of doing anything in PT. Sound like a pretty bad economic structure for a country where most people live on minimal wage.
