Thank you for sharing this useful information. Food, public transportation, and utilities all seem to be around 25% - 50% cheaper in Portugal compared to the United States, but the childcare blows my mind. It's extremely high here in the States. We pay around $3,300/month for 2 children. It sounds like it would be around $900/month in Portugal! Nearly 75% cheaper! I think that's probably the biggest difference that I noticed in your list.

Thank you for your comment! Yes, childcare costs in Portugal are significantly lower, especially in public options. It's one of the many factors that make Portugal appealing for families moving from the U.S.! 😊

I've heard that the average wage for locals in Portugal is fairly low, so how can they afford these housing prices? Where are they living?

I’m so pleased that you mentioned Amarante, I used to to live there 10 years ago and it was very cheap to rent a small apartment (T1 was €150-180 p/m) and the food was very good quality and inexpensive 😊. I heard it’s much more expensive now, though

Amarante truly is a wonderful place! 😊 It's definitely a bit more expensive now, but totally worth it if you're looking to be in a medium and quiet town in the North.

@SavvyCatRealtyАй бұрын
Hi! Yes, that’s the monthly rent 😊 Overall, Portugal has strong English proficiency, especially in larger cities like Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra, and Aveiro. Hope this helps! 😊

Depends greatly on the area of interest. There are still plenty of affordable areas in Portugal, both for locals and foreigners.
