By experience, I honestly never had that much issue taming death claws, cuz For whatever reason. Not once, did I had a random hostile deathclaws spawn outside my settlements when taming them & having me emitter active. Maybe I done something in the coding during my gameplay that caused deathclaws not to randomly spawn without my knowledge Of such faulty parameters & attack my settlements when trying to tame them? Or maybe the devils due & returning the deathclaw's egg to its mother, caused some sort of pacify bug? Or Maybe it's some sort of passive effect given off by animal friend or wasteland whisperer perks. Either way, from experience, taming deathclaws are Probably the safest bet to tame, as They don't seem to randomly attack your settlements out of the blue, & depending on What death claw spawns in your cages By reloading a save till you get the right one you want. You can get some pretty beefy defense. yao guai's Are okay, But I mostly use the system to farm for Both stag & yao guai meat & sanctuary seemed like the best place, Once You have the whole Island concrete off & aware of the Only three spawn points they try to enter sanctuary from? (Namely right side of the bridge, The backgap behind the island leading up to 111, & far left side of the Cul-De-Sac turnabout) It was easy Pickings To keep them out & use that useful meat to Make more deathclaw pens For settlements that I felt Like defending them with. And again, for every other settlement, Once you get an idea Of where enemies Spawn & attempt to pour into your settlement, It's Simple to make choke points So that enemies have to be forced to go through these gaps to try to attack your settlement Head on. Then basically keep them out till they're all enemies, Rather random raid or random wasteland workshop predator attack, Are all goen. But if I had to pick the worst wasteland workshop predator, It is hands down mirelurk's. Do not, REPEAT, Do not use mirelurks To defend your settlements. There is no safe way, there is no way to keep them out, & There is no way to stop them From spawning directly to your settlements & killing your settlers. The very second You try to use the emitter & release mirelurks out of their pens, You have forever doomed/made whatever settlement you've placed these mirelurk pens To be placed down/Open at? To be permanently non-stopped attacked by insanely huge randomly generated swarms of mirelurk's.(WHICH IF VERY UNLUCKY, DEPENDING ON PLAYER LEVEL, SPAWN IN THE TOUGHEST VARIANCE'S OF EACH MIRELURK TO SPAWN IN ALL THE TIME) You Leave "that" settlement for even a day, The fishies overrun the whole palce. Try to sleep inside or near settlement? Wake up to To face those annoying pincers. Fast travel In and out After extended periods of time? You Load right into a fishy slaughter. Basically making "that" specific settlements/settlement, To be a non-stop attackgrounds for all radioactive fishy kind & There is absolutely no way to stop them from pouring in The moment you let a single tame mirelurk out of its pen, Cuz of this DLC's buggy animal spawn algorithm. Making the only way to avoid all of this, is to Simply never in a million years, ever craft or use the mirelurk pen As a defense mechanism. Making the only practical use for them? Would be pick out one of the handful of god-awful settlement placements around the Commonwealth & Have it basically be a mirelurk Non-Stop spawning breeding ground To collect endless soft shell/ regular mirelurk. That's the only practical use for them, Otherwise You're setting yourself up for The deadliest fish to have ever crawled up on land & ruin your settlers lives as a result.
