Many still talk of the "Wahine Storm"- they call it that because a big ferry "The Wahine" navigation was blinded as it was about to enter Wellington Heads in rough weather. I do not recall the weather as bad when I went to bed in our very exposed house the night before. But I woke up to a real tempest. I set out for work, but turned back because my car was being dismantled by the wind - just like many houses I passed broken in the roadway. But by lunch time, it was a crystal clear day and the harbour very calm. So the cyclone you encountered is not unique in being followed in short order by fine calm conditions.

I used to spend my summer holidays at my uncle Tom's place in Tryphena. We sailed on his 50ft sloop and caught some great fish every day. It was a paradise for us kids.

You've put in a lot of hard work into this channel. Its actually one of the better channels. Weird. that it hasn't got the subs its deserves. I really like it when North Americans review New Zealand. Being a kiwi myself but having travelled widely its always interesting to hear outside perspectives of "kiwi life".

I definitely have, but between surgery and citizenship coming up, I am tied to New Zealand for the near future. To be honest, that's find with me, because it gives me the opportunity to really deep-dive into seeing all of New Zealand, rather than just rushing through. I do know here! I'm definitely trying to connect locally with as many other influencers as I can, as it can be a lonely profession! I hope you're well! 💜💜💜

I only follow a few of these people, most of these vloggers live in Auckland by the looks of if.

Glad you are in a better place. My medical service dog is 13 and needs a surgery to save his life. (He and I are on my hospital bed in my profile photo). I hate myself because I only was able to earn most of the cost, but am a few hundred short. He’s saved my life so many times and I can’t save his. And I live with not only medical illnesses, I can’t seem to get past past horrible abuse, as well as a current situation. So I feel when my dog passes, it’s my time too. Your message is amazing and know it will help so many.

You deserve the world, don’t settle for less. For the longest time, I always said I wanted to treat myself as I’d want my daughters to treat themselves. I’d bet if your dog could talk, he wouldn’t be happy with how you’re talking about yourself. You cannot hate yourself for your limits. You must love yourself for caring so much you are trying. You deserve the world. 💜💜💜

Daniella you called your channel audacious path (showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks.) have a look at how many people around you have the determination required to change their station in life. You have exhibited that determination in spades. Lots of people can’t handle the lows and are jealous of the highs. (Negative commenters. Block the extreme ones) Sounds like you are past the darkest hour and the sun is coming up. Keep it up. 👍

Gosh Dani... 1:14 i didnt knew that... last time i playfully said something about "you are married"... i am feeling guilty now... so sry... and 3:00, I get that, after my accident 10 years ago and starting a failed business, I can relate to that... till today I cant sit down continuously for more than 15min... for you jaw surgery, why don't you consider India, its way quicker and efficient than you think and it would be much more economical($1000-$2000 est.)... trust me, people from usa, canada, aus come here to get treatment... and congrats on getting your citizenship 😃... and don't worry, people will be with you (at least I will) throughout your life/journey... just don't quit youtube, just stay connected...

Heya, it’s okay. I thought maybe you didn’t see the episode on The Audacious Path where I talked about it. It was really heartbreaking at the time, I tried everything to make it work, but in the end, we were not growing together. For the Jaw surgery, it’s 100% free covered by the medical system, I just have to wait until my turn, which is soon hopefully. I thought about going overseas, but I was warned that I need to make sure I find the right place as results vary hugely. Anyway, happy new year! Hope you’re well!! 💜

D-I don't know exactly what your jaw issue is, but before you jump into a major surgery, consider this if you haven't. Have you tried a chiropractor? Sometimes if your neck/back is our of alignment it can affect your jaw. Just a possible option. I know it has worked for me.

Heya! I’ve gone to a chiropractor for years, osteopath, massage, talking therapy. My issue is a malocclusion which will just keep getting worse over time until I get it fixed unfortunately. 💜

I have had a bad year as well may 4th I had open heart surgery which so much was wrong with my heart and now getting better Nov I turned 7 years breast cancer free and then Friday I went for a check up and I don’t have implants they say a bump on end of scar and I am waiting for biopsy results ….. I am trying Danielle have hope again and faith life again is at a halt so still fighting my journey and praying it’s a false positive But it is wonderful to see you healthy happy and getting ready for your next step in your life ⭐️💛💛💛

defiently go, i sail around there for a few weeks over xmas every year and it creates so many core memories. I reccomend going to Torea bay and Resoultion bay. Amazing spots.

Tallships 2023 was won by the ketch Tarua. 36 ft herreshoff neiria..saved from sinking by a teatowel just 1 month out from the start.sailed engine less down from mangonui with 30 yr old sails ,a rudder held together with fence post bolts,tiller nailed together .thank you l Francis herreshoff

I’m definitely coming with you, I just realized today that one of the reasons why I admire you and your positive, giving nature & ambition for life….. and it’s probably because I’ve been to that same place and it’s scary. I feel like you’ve passed that & are in a forward momentum now, you seem happier now that you’ve made your decision and put it out there for the World. I’ve never had such a sense of calmness as I did after I decided that I was going to live my life and more importantly “be happy” and glad. I’m excited about your new channel and where you’re going, I think you’re going to be surprised by the people who follow you & regret being so judgmental without enough knowledge of the situation. They’re learning about themselves as they move through life too, maybe to change into a kinder, more caring person….🍀

You know at the turn of the eighteenth century there were lucky to be 100,000 maori in NZ, so the idea the maori have a story for every nook and cranny in NZ is nonsense it's a modern adaptation to give the maori some sense of mystique and NZ tourism some dollars...moreover the maori were not the original people of NZ and have only inhabited the land for approx 600 yrs...

Heya Lilly! Firstly, so excited you are curious about starting a channel! It is a super rewarding experience, mostly because of the community for me! I will hang on to Sailing Pivo, as I will continue to get a small revenue from past videos that people will continue to view. You can also understand that it is such a personal and deep story, I want to be able to have control over it and protect it. People need to see the Sailing Pivo story I think. It was a dark place for sure. I hadn't had panic attacks for many many years, and it felt like death when they came one after another. And I will say to others what my therapist said to me... once they pass, that's as bad as it gets. That's what we fear. That intense, excruciating pain, over and over again that makes you want to die, and then BOOM... you did it. You got through it. And you realise there is a whole other world on the other side. It's so scary but I feel so much stronger and empowered for it. You'll get there. Absolutely. You're already curious and seeking to learn. Thats the first step. I genuinely mean this: if there is a topic I can address or something you are curious about, let me know and Ill make a video about it. 💜💜💜
