Hi Susanna.... love your Brompton adventures and have posted on your brilliant videos before.. this is not a bike query, but I've also downloaded some of the great background music you use .. and particularly like Houses on the Hill.. what a brilliant band... that first album is great and Ebba's vocals are just so good... I thought at first they must be mainstream (I'm an old man and very out of touch). I thought they'd be all over online but they weren't... then I tracked them down to Stockholm but there's nothing about gigs and whether they tour. I'd be grateful for some more info about them and if there's any chance of them coming over here... anyway, great to see you keeping up the good work 👍.
@susannathornton9 күн бұрын
Hi Mickey B! oh that is nice yeh Houses on the Hill seem to be a brilliant band. I don't know anything about them actually - I found them on Epidemic Sound, which is the music library I am using. "World Goes By" is my favourite track of theirs. I love the sound and I like the lyrics too. I used that one in the film I did about riding through Germany on the way Sweden... kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3yympKmi9SGpc0si=F5R5th4OjIooPaVg Ahhhh I just watched that film again myself as I was thinking about it! I love trying to find music that matches how I felt when I was there, and of the whole experience I had. I love that. Anyway, thank you for watching! LMK if you find out that Houses on the Hills are coming over the the UK or anything!! best wishes!

Thanks for writing Neil with your thoughtful comment. Yeh, I think about this ride and think about the world today. So much has changed. In China things have modernised massively over the last 15 years. When I saw Josh Reid's film of riding a similar route recently, it made me kind of laugh looking at some of the smooth roads and things. The other thing that is massively different is the internet. I had no smart phone GPS map type stuff at all. Just paper maps and pointing and asking the way haha - it was kind of the last moment before everything went digital, a whole other world that is hard to remember now almost. @Josh-Reid Josh's great film is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/g57HqaaVZd6MrcU&pp=ygUYZHJvbmUgY3ljbGluZyBmcm9tIGNoaW5h

Hi Susanna, really love these gear vids, especially from someone with as much experience as you and who's not trying to sell something. On that note. I have a three season down sleeping bag as I live in and go bike touring in southern Spain. However, the older I get the more I feel the cold at night but certainly don't want to buy another sleeping bag. You mentioned a sleeping bag liner a reactor lite I think from seatosummit, seems like the perfect solution. Would you recommend it? Which one have you got? I note also that you use a self inflating sleeping pad. I've lost count of the sleeping pads I've bought that have failed but I just cannot justify to myself the extortionate cost of leading brand pads. I too therefore am going to buy a self inflating pad which should be rather more robust and reasonably priced. Cheers, happy riding.
@susannathorntonАй бұрын
Hi there! just sat down and saw your message so will answer before I start the next thing! yeah sounds like your sleeping bag is similar to mine, 3-season down, many years old in my case so mine prob has lost a good bit of its original loft or whatever. But still a great bit of kit. Anyway yeah to avoid needing to buy another sleeping bag for winter, I bought a SeatoSummit "Thermolite fabric Reactor" liner a few years ago. On the little bag that comes with the liner, it just says "Regular". Looks like they have changed the product names a bit since I bought mine - I looked online just now kind of quickly and they now seem to have liners called Standard, and Extreme ones as well. FWIW my Regular one is dead simple black bag no frills made out of quite thin soft stretchy knitted fabric. I am OK down to about zero if I use it inside my sleeping bag, and if it is even colder I do that plus I spread my jacket or something over the top of my sleeping bag. Actually I use the liner in summer too on its own as a thin summer sleeping bag, with my sleepign bag opened out as a quilt, and that makes a really nice combo for warm weather. Anywaway, hope that helps! Hope you get a good self inflating mattress too. Best wishes!
