With the s1 and etching glass, do you have to coat the glass with paint or a vinyl backing for the laser to etch the pattern? You can't just put any colour of glass sheet in and have the design etched without some additional preparation?

Correct! The method I’ve used with the S1 is to paint the surface to be etched with black tempera paint. It’s generally worked quite well for me the few times I’ve used that method.

Great video, but Xtools does advertise that the P2 & P2s can engrave a variety of metals. 😊

Thanks for watching!! The P2/P2S won’t be able to engrave metals due to the nature of the laser, however, it can indeed mark them when using a metal marking spray. I’ve done this a handful of times without issue and while it may seem like an engrave, marking is quite different. Here’s how to do it: support.xtool.com/article/787

Very informative review yet disappointing impression with P2s... I was expecting much larger working area after all these advertisements "small business bla bla..." and the price tag of more than 4K€... not even mentioning the size of machine. I think I'll wait for other companies to show what they have to offer

Thanks for watching and commenting. While the working area hasn’t been a limiting factor for me, it is indeed a bit smaller than some of the other CO2 lasers on the market. However the P2/P2S are significantly easier to integrate into a space-limited shop and still offer a generally suitable working area with a really impressive pass through system when working with large workpieces.
