I just realized while you were talking about how Frieren has to deal with the fact that she will outlive her friends/apprentice...that ferns hair piece is a butterfly...a majestic creature that has an incredibly short live span... For Frieren to pick that is a mood.

Nagisa is attached with the place. As the climate changes, her condition changes, noticable when she falls in in those particular seasons, and dies in snowfall. Once she's dead, her child inherits this condition, and meets the same fate. Lore wise, when this town grants a wish a light orb appears, just like when Tomoya broke down in the ending, it appears and suddenly we go back in time seeing nagisa and tomoya meet for the first time.

Its incredible how this anime had in every aspect, so much quality in every aspect. So sad this didnt get any adaptation, having now with conclucusion, one of the best tales ever written 😭😭

Other similarities: 1) Morgoth (main antagonist of the silmarillion) and the demon king (main antagonist of frieren); 2) location of the antagonists' strongholds: Morgoth's fortress (Angband) being located in the northern most region of Belariand (setting of the Silmarillion) and the demon kings fortress being located in Ende; 3) the nature and implications of the potential love and relationship between an immortal and mortal being: Beren and Luthien from Tolkiens Silmarillion, Aragorn and Arrwen from the Lord of the Rings. how do you know "his" animators are improvising??? , after all in animation everything has to be set up inthe storyboards, maybe at rough animations they could "improvise" somethong but what exactly? I dont understand exactly what you mean by sponteaneous , In animation everthing as to be calculated to get to the deadline. I dooo love to understan it much better cus yuasa mind works sooo different but improvising doesnt sounds something that reflects yuasa or science saru does.

HnK is a fascinating series. I'll definitely re-read the manga again at some point now that it's finished. I hope a season 2 happens so I can see the moon arc in animated form
