Great job. I like the new parting tool. I expected that you would have turned the job around in the chuck, parted of the excess and then drill and bored the hole. That way you would have ended up with a more useful donut. And then bored out for the bearing and faced it to fit the chuck. Great content and awaiting the next video. Aaron from Canada.

I was surprised you didn't put the MT4 in the MT6(5?) of the head stock and skip the 4-jaw chuck altogether. Maybe you didn't hav an adapter? Perhaps it wouldn't let you work right up to the edge of the MT4 tool you made? Really nice work as always.
@swanvalleymachineshopКүн бұрын
I only had a standard MT 5 to 4 reducing sleeve that is too long to fit the spindle . The one that came with the lathe is a MT 5 to MT 3 , so too small . The JFMT lathe has an ASA 350 down to a MT 6 , but i could not reduce from 6 MT to 4MT as i do not have that sleeve . Cheers 👍

Hey Max. The shop tooling is looking pretty spiffy! That taper shank twist drill is a beaut, it was putting out some very cool looking chips! That material was some good free machining stuff. One man's trash is another mans treasure. If I was a machinist and I was able to, I would be diving into Curtis's metal scrap bin over at Cutting Edge Engineering. Some of the stuff he puts in the bin would look good in any machinists stock pile. That Iscar parting tool is the cats meow! Like you say, top shelf in the parting dept. While not cheap, I imagine that it is reasonably priced as well, but that is just a guess. Definitely some well made kit though. Your tooling keeps getting better and better! Let me know if there is anything I can get you over here when 2025 rolls around. I have set aside 2-3 hundred for support for the channel, as seeing KZbin is paying spit for all your hard work. The content creators need to be getting a bigger part of the profits than they get now, not less. Typical Google, they're trying to get me to continue being a Google guide, but a 3-5 dollar movie rental is hardly worth 3 months of free writing and photography, but as I said, typical Google. Cheers mate, see you in the next one. Your production values keep getting more refined as time goes on. For a one man team, your content rocks! Keep it up bro, thanks for the great, entertaining content! EZE (what friends and family call me) from Phoenix 👊🏻

Great! 2 questions. How did you get the MT4 out of the adaptor without a tang? And how did you establish the centre height of the parting tool with the work already chucked?
@swanvalleymachineshopКүн бұрын
I use an old ordinary height gauge that i sit on the cross slide for the tool height . If you look close when i ejected the taper , i use a small round disc ! I will show it on the next video if i remember ! Cheers 👍
