A friend thinks wood frame burns slow while steel melts fast in a fire? I hope he wrong
@Volstrukt3 ай бұрын
All of the materials used in the project are factors in a homes fire resistance. If you're exclusively using fire-resistant materials, it can take a long time (if at all) for a fire to spread from the source. He is correct when steel is exposed to extreme heat for a long period, it could potentially reach it's melting point (usually over 1,000º F).

I would love to toss one of these on a 50-100 acre plot of land! How is the insulation and heating/cooling costs compared to a traditional lumber home?
@Volstrukt4 ай бұрын
There are different ways you can insulate a steem frame that allows for a comparable or even more energy effecient home. We commonly use insulated Zip sheathing on the exterior of the frame to create a thermal break, giving you flexibility on your cavity insulation. Hope this helps!
@royandrade29296 ай бұрын
What type of insulation would be best. I have heard your home will echo in proper insulation is not used.
@Volstrukt6 ай бұрын
You aren't limited to the type of insulation you use. It will usually be driven by your climate or local code requirements, but we commonly use insulationed zip sheathing on the exterior and closed-cell spray foam in the wall cavity. Roxul is also a common option.

@Volstrukt8 ай бұрын
We appreciate your feedback and understand the pricing. The reason it's difficult to list pricing online is the same house design can be priced lower if the client is local to us in Texas with 2x4 walls, but up to 35% higher if we're working with a client in Miami, FL or up at altitude in CO with heavier gauge 2x6 walls. The local loads and building requirements have an impact on the gauges of steel we need to use for our clients which dictates the final amount of material in the project. Feel free to shoot us an email us if you'd like some tailored pricing for your region. Thanks!
