Thanks for the input and feedback! The WA coast is as wonderful as ever. And Jacks is still the same old Jacks! Glad you are liking the stuff. The channel is mostly about sharing what we are doing (so I don't have to keep explaining it to friends and family LOL), the beatufy of Washington, our wildlife, and fun. Its not about instructional videos or HowTo. I haven't done any videos in 5 or 6 months, but we have a number of projects going on. I plan on picking up videos again as often as I can starting in June. Especially around our Water Catchment, new Orchard and construction we are doing/have done. Anyway, thanks for watching, hope you find some of it interesting!

Let's see that was Nov 2021 and its almost March 2024, so 2.5 years its still standing! And full of tools and sockets and stuff. One upper right corner did break away a bit last fall, i think the metal extreme heat and then extreme cold got to it a bit, I just slopped more in that corner and it was fine. But really it worked way better then I thought it was going to. We haven't done a video for awhile, but the next one I do, I'll run in there and put a little follow-up clip about it. That container has become quite the shop and chock full of tools with all the massive projects since this video was done. Thanks for watching!

@@SeamrógCreek Thank you for the response! I've had a shipping container for a couple of years that I've only used for storage, but I really need to build a shop and there'd be plenty of room for that. @@rgbuckl Containers are just so awesome and handy. Fast way to get water tight buildings online without construction. We actually have two containers, there's a video on the channel somewhere from about a year ago where we dropped a second container in, down the road a bit off of a Spur road we built. That container is where we store things like ATVs, fuel based things, paints, all our spare lumber, all that flammable stuff. We do that to keep it out of the shop (smell) and to protect it from embers in case of forest fires. That container just has shelving in it, nothing fancy as its storage. We have not insulated the shop container at this point, however I did pickup a whirly bird vent system to install in it. This will keep the interior moisture down when its cold outside but the suns out heating up the container. Helps that condensation problem. I'll find a link to what I bought and put it here. I have one for each container but i have not installed them. I definitely plan on doing a video of that when I do! Waiting for nicer weather. Right now its snowing up there! So much so, the Starlink just went off-line. haha. We are planning on picking up a 3rd 20ft this year and that one I'm having a 36" man door put in, as well as insulating it. But its not a high priority at the moment.

does your regulator auto switch when one tank get close to or empty? the regulator i have does that and i have 2 100ib tanks as well as 2 30s.
@SeamrógCreek
@SeamrógCreek 4 ай бұрын
No, this isn't quite that fancy. It will run one tank, or the other tank, via the manual switch. OR it can run both tanks together. I don't like the later, because if it runs out and you've forgotten to deal with it, your totally out. Cool you have 4 tanks on yours though! For us though its fine running one and then the other because when we aren't there we shut the whole propane system off anyway, so I'm in that cabinet every trip. I think however if we do end up living up there, I would probably change that out to be more automatic, and possibly handle more tanks. Right now its only running the kitchen range, but we are about to hook up the Incinerator toilet and the Water heater to that system, hoping to do videos on that as we get all that built out, so I'm expanding this system into a manifold to run several devices. We will probably use propane faster at that point, so I may re-think some of it down the road. Hoping to do a video on the propane expansion, we are moving to CSST. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@Barret_RadtkeOh that makes sense, i know they do make giant manifolds like that, probably not worth the expense. Ya, propane for heat! That would consume a lot. Heating is the hardest off grid thing of all. We are 100% wood at this place. So in the summer we have to spend a few weekends dealing with wood for the next season. We also don't leave full time so that makes a difference. I'd probably have propane as a backup heat source if we did, for sure.

In my area code says you have to have a ventilated cabinet to store propane.
@SeamrógCreek
@SeamrógCreek 5 ай бұрын
You should always ventilate propane systems. Propane is heavier then air so any sort of holes at the bottom will allow minor propane leaks to exit the propane out the bottom. This is easy to add into any cabinet.
@frijoli9579
@frijoli9579 5 ай бұрын
@@SeamrógCreek, where did you ventilate yours?
@SeamrógCreek
@SeamrógCreek 5 ай бұрын
@@frijoli9579 what we ended up doing was drilling 1/2" holes at the base of the unit on 3 sides. This allows plenty of air movement for any propane that might leak to flow out the bottom. So far (1 year later) we've never had any leaks, I test it pretty regularly since I don't want to lose propane. I just started expanding the whole system with a manifold and plumbing multiple appliances using CSST. Hoping to do a video on that as soon as the weather clears up! Adding water heater and incinerator toilet to the system. I'll be sure to mention/show the ventilation on the cabinet as its come up in previous comments.

Awesome to hear someone else doing the same kind of setup. It is so great having a nice big gas range on the propane like that, I couldn't agree more! We only have the range on the gas and we've used about 3/4 of one tank in almost exactly 1 year. We also don't live there full time. Right now i'm expanding this system to run our new Tankless Hot water heater and our incinerator toilet. The weather went sideways this months so probably get back to that soon, but I'll have to do a video on our expansion. I'm guessing that'll burn propane faster but by my guesstimate only having to fill them once a year or even twice would be awesome. Thanks for watching and sharing your setup!

Hi there, cool set-up. Trying to configure an off-grid wifi camera systems as well with starlink. How many wildlife cameras do you have now using the starlink system? What is the range for connectivity? Thanks
@SeamrógCreek
@SeamrógCreek 8 ай бұрын
I should really do an updated video this one is from when we first started at the property. Right now I have 3 5G Cellular solar powered cameras, and 6 other cameras that are either running on the solar system on the cabin, or off panels of their own. Three of these cameras use WiFi to get back to the Starlink Router, and 3 of these are POE direct connected to the router (via a switch), because they are mounted on the building so no need for wifi. So 6 of the 9 leverage Starlink, and 3 use Cellular (Because they are too far away). I did have to boost the Wifi using a Ubiquity AP high power. However the starlink does "okay" with all these. I don't stream from them all the time, but every camera sends an image every minute back to a cloud server for me, and they all also trigger on motion and send directly to me with a notification. The starlink struggles trying to live stream more then 2 at a time, but since I only live stream one at a time when I'm looking specifically at it for some reason it hasn't been an issue. I'm in the works of building a point to point long range wireless to send the starlink internet about 1000 feet across the property to another location that has solar power on it, where I can put another WIFI AP and cover that area as well. This will allow me to get rid of two of the 5G Cellular cameras. Anyway, I could talk about it for hours LOL. I'll see about doing a video on all our camera setups next time we are up there AND its not raining 🤣 Thanks for watching!

After todays Apple Event, now I need the iPhone 15 to step up the camera game. 🤣 I haven't measured the worst inclines yet, and they are still doing some fill to reduce those but I think two spots will probably be 10-12 degrees? Should be fine for most rigs, obviously a fire truck isn't getting in and out of there LOL. I'll definitely measure those once the rock is down. They also are evaluating a couple spots that might need culverts, today. Heh, Elk (especially) and deer proof fencing are part of the orchard plan... if I can invent such a thing!

Wuz up wit dat stylish crewneck sweatshirt? Trailcam SeamRog5=fav, the audio from the water flowing along with the wildlife content is consistently amazing. Disco'd solar panel/inverter/charger/charge-controllers never get disposed of, always repurposed. The recently added container/fuel shed provides the justification to upgrade the cabin w/o the guilt of the old (old, pfft... it's like 18months of service I think) equipment sitting on some shelf somewhere. Are you able to get network connectivity to the container? Seems like it's at least a couple hundred yds from the cabin. How many panels will the container be getting? Also, where's my updated design/schematic doc? Quote of the video? "Easy Fix, Mo Panels, Mo Battery, Mo Generator". Great b-roll to wrap up the video, if you've never fab'd your own AWG0 ends, heatgun'd shrink tube, you don't understand the satisfaction.

I'm only tryin' to look the best for y'all 🤣but no suits allowed. That is one camera with great audio, the other exact same models get audio but not as good. I do "boost" it a bit when editing the video, but it picks up the rough area of the creek downstream really well. That camera hasn't moved in years, it even survives the January floods. Yes all the gear from this upgrade that was removed goes to the container system. It will be much smaller, it only has to power some battery chargers, lights, and network gear. I have 3 200 watt panels already, waiting for a job, so I'm starting with those. Its only going to have about 200AH or battery power behind, so we will see how it does over the winter and upgrade it next year. That is assuming I get it installed in the next month! We still need to paint before the crap weather hits. I have the P2P gear (Ubiquity) to shoot the network from the main building across the property where it can hit that container, drop into a small switch and then hit another long range WAP. This should get WIFI onto the east end of the property (wear the entry road is), and maybe let me get rid of the gate 5G camera and move it to WIFI (save me some monthly fees). Soon as the solar is in there I plan to get that network portion working. That container is about 800ft or so from the cabin. Updated diagram in the works! I'll share it here when I get it done.
