Yes! They really do work great, just give that little extra heat circulation, and its free energy! Wow low 20s, that is getting cold! Desert nights! Thanks for watching, was nice to finally get the interior buttoned up! Have a great weekend as well.

That was full-on nerd-a-stan territory (watching the victron UI while running the saw) Wish I didn't know what one of those blown fuses looks like :) I might've missed it in an early video but I was looking for the the product links to the DC lights/USBblock etc.. Are your porch exterior lights DC? (not the led stripes you referenced) For your DC connections what type of connector/s do you use? Are connector types categorized by amperage? Ya always do a great job of quantifying your projects ( inside / outside temps). Drop stairs for the attic space? Sorry about the machine gun questions but the lighting inside & out looks soo good.

Blown fuses... good and bad at the same time! LOL. You didn't miss it, I just forgot to list that stuff. I'll update the description on this video today with those and reply here about it I decided not to do the lighting in direct DC mostly because of the wire size. At 12V those long runs increase the wire size dramatically. It was my plan originally but some of those light runs would have been really big wire. So instead I chose to run those off the inverter. For the USB runs, 12GA 4 wire (I'll link) was perfect size for my runs and its about the size as the ROMEX on the AC side, so that worked out. I'll link this cool connectors I found for vehicle work, I used those for the small stuff (12ga or less). Yes! We even found a space on the outside decking near the cabinet for the solar gear where we could do this. Hoping to put that in this winter, will definitely do a video about that! We did install lighting in the attic before we buttoned it up (as seen in the video briefly). Thanks for watching! I'll go update those items.

You’ve been making some serious progress, the place is looking great & your videos always leave me with more questions than answers 😂. Im not sure if that’s the result you are trying to achieve? Good to see someone taking time to get the insulation right and the benefits of doing that will pay off for years to come - well done. I’ve been busy trying to die again, I ended up with Pneumonia again & somehow wasn’t satisfied with that and decided to get infected with Covid 19 whilst being treated for Pneumonia 🤦‍♂️ - if you do something, may as well do it right hey 😂. So I’ve lost a few weeks while I’ve been crook. Please don’t stop filming, it would be a shame not to share all your hard work, besides you’re giving me some great ideas. Wonder if they do those DC USB charge points in the USB C size? Such a great idea to run direct DC with those little loads rather than have a big inverter chewing through power to provide small charges. Really tidy way of doing away with all those ugly charger heads too. I really enjoyed chatting to you too, I’ve even decided to take your advice about creating a YT channel about our upcoming adventures as we head off to buy our new offgrid homestead down in Tasmania (5 weeks to go). Can I ask you about the shipping container. Do you have any issues with condensation in there when Storing stuff? I’m just trying to get my head around that as last week I just bought a new 20ft High cube shipping container and I am thinking about having it sprayed with a closed cell spray foam to try and avoid condensation as I’ll be storing all my good stuff in there while we are going through the motions of being homeless 😬. You’ve got the experience with the cold, so keen to hear your thoughts.

Oh geez! I guess ya, if your going to get sick do it right and get everything at once! Sorry to hear that, hope you are doing better today! They actually do make those in USB-C, they are a bit different and don't fit in electrical boxes (which is annoying) but I do have a couple I want to install, when I do I'll share those as well. I would just wire them straight off the same wire as the existing ones since its already pretty high gauge wire I've run. We've been up for the salmon run and a few other minor things, so I have a super short video I need to push out, its not overly exciting. We will probably be up there around christmas time for several days, so hopefully we will do some exciting project I can do a video about. So with the container, ours are very well vented and those vents are bug screened, it came that way, so we don't actually see much condensation, the air temperature in and out seems to stay almost the same. It feels warmer in there due to no wind chill but temps are usually within a degree or two of each other. I will say I have seen condensation in there when the sun hits it early on a cold day and the metal heats up fast and the air doesn't. That seems to exist on the upper side walls when it happens and its not a lot. I've never had anything run down the walls or drip from the ceiling (so far), and no damage. I'm still debating insulating the interior as well, mostly so I can enjoy it more when its freakin cold out. There's a company that makes insulating panels designed to fit in storage containers, they even have electrical channels run through them. I think they were called InSoFast? There's some youtube videos about them. Might be cost prohibitive though, not sure. Spraying foam into it though would be a great way to insulate it I think, as well. We've not had any major problems, but if you are concerned or have things you are really worried about its probably worth insulating it. Especially if its an older one with no ventilation in it?

@@SeamrógCreek There’s a super exciting video to make, Salmon run & subsequent cooking edition of Seamrog Creek ? 😂 Interesting what you’ve witnessed regarding condensation in your container. Condensation is an interesting beast & there’s so many factors that come into play. I’ve got a brand new (single use) container. They’re shipped from China to Australia with a load of boxed refrigerators or similar in them & sold as new. They have a series of vents around the roper ends of the walls. I’ve decided to get it sprayed internally with a closed cell spray foam which I’ve been told will prevent condensation from occurring. Not cheap but it should prevent moisture issues when storing our possession (including leather recliners etc). If we decide at a later stage to line the container and use it as an office or some form of accomodation (spare room of sone description) then the foam at the thickness we’re applying will give it an R2 insulation rating…….else wise once our cabin is built we can always flip it, the price of shipping containers only ever seems to increase these days. Your insulation job looked first class. I did that on our current home (that we just sold) & in the 4&1/2 years we lived here we’ve almost run at a $zero monthly cost for electricity. I will work it out one day but the entire home has only used about $200-$300 worth of electricity a year ….. house is about 3500ft2 with a pool & 6.6kw of quality North facing Solar. Remember we’re in the southern hemisphere do we angle our gear north towards the sun. Anyway, I really think thorough insulation makes a huge difference. I believe the closed cell spray foam is an excellent way to insulate around the cavities of walls and windows or doors etc to stop the building leaking air. Not cheap but effective (apparently). Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your Vlogs as we near the start of our 2023 adventure. Please don’t stop filming 😭 😂 as we just started buying GoPro equipment so we could start a sister channel to yours - putting an Aussie spin on Seamrog Ck……we just need to find the property now 😂 Look forward to your next clip 👍
