Couple questions lol.. What was the big Harvey machine behind the dust extractor? which sander is that? Why not a festool? Lastly, what do you do about the glue squeeze out on the inside of miters? I wipe it with a damp rag but it stains nasty. Thanks
@AnthonyScolaro1
@AnthonyScolaro1 15 күн бұрын
@@CustomWoodWorkDecor that was the Harvey g700 dust collector. The sander is a Mirka, I’ve had it for years before I switched everything over to Festool and it still works great and ranks right up there with Festool, so I’ll keep it until it burns out. The glue, with a painted project, glue squeeze out that is wiped with a damp rag doesn’t leave any traces after finishing. Stained projects you have to be more careful with, however if you clean up the squeeze out quickly and make sure you sand it properly, then you shouldn’t have a problem. But don’t over glue to the point of either, making a mess with squeeze out is hard to hide at any level. Also on darker stains, titebond makes a dark glue that hides very well.

@@jjhi2760 I made this in 4 sections and when I delivered it to the client’s home, I first leveled and plumbed the base units and screwed them together, then I installed the top two units, screwed then together and then attached the top to the bottom from inside. @@jjhi2760 the dominos give me perfect alignment with completely flush and crisp corners. No extra work to sand out or flush route. Vertically? You mean standing up? Because You can only cut plywood vertically on a stand up panel saw. When you lay plywood on a surface to cut it, that is horizontally. And if you wanted to cut a full sheet of plywood on an MFT, you need two of them and turn them sideways and spread them apart a little bit to support the entire 4x8 sheet. I hope that makes sense, because I don’t think I understand the question if that’s not the answer you’re looking for. I hope this helps.

Anthony, I use both guides with narrow stock. Because the guides are pushing down and towards the fence, you only have to push horizontally, so I use a thin push stick (less than 3/4") which goes under the rollers. Perfectly safe and accurate. I also have the same question about the gap at top of the door on the hinge side. I have over a 1/4” gap between the door and the face of the cabinet. It does not look right but the hinges have a metal tab that stops the hinges from being mounted any deeper into the frame. I am using the same 1/2” overlay hinges as shown on your videos. I have tried all of the adjustment screws and have the double doors looking good except for the big open gap that is very noticeable at top corners of each door. Not sure what I might be doing wrong. Wise I could send you a picture of the gap. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you your videos are very informative by far the most helpful I found. You job.
@AnthonyScolaro1
@AnthonyScolaro1 Ай бұрын
@@user-qr5zj9yq7v there are a few things that it could be, if you cannot adjust the hinge to close the gap to the cabinet carcass to at least 1/16-1/8”, then you did not mount the hinge plate on the carcass far back enough, or your door and/or you frame is warped. Check these 3 things. I would start by making sure your hinge plate distance from the front of the cabinet is correct as per manufacturers specifications. Then check your door for warpage and out of square.
