I think that comparing self-preservation being related to finance is something that we shouldn't do Like it's not as much about money as survival and one can find ways to survive outside of money. That's my only real critique on these videos. Otherwise I think you did really good.

I’m a 9 and you’re so right about the dissociation, I can’t even remember what my core wound was but I know it affected me. I grew up constantly belittling myself and putting other first because I didn’t wanna make a scene

15:09 this is funny because I was just told a few days ago on Reddit that I can't be an ENTP and be a 6w7, as ENTPs "can only be 3, 7, or 8" according to them. I thought that it was a silly assertion, to say that this was "impossible" (rather than simply less common) given that these are different systems that measure different things, and that 6 is one of the more versatile types, and could theoretically be perfectly matched with a more introverted and less impulsive ENTP, especially given the 7 wing, so it's good to see that someone whose channel is based around enneagram has confirmed my suspicions. While I still don't know my own type for certain (can one even know this with 100% certainty?), I do like having some evidence that I'm right about this. 🙂

It's funny you said Captain America is a 6 because I was thinking, watching this, that Sam Wilson Cap IS a 6! But Steve Rogers is definitely not - he's a 1, all day long. 6 is what someone who doesn't actually know Steve would guess or assume, based purely on what he looks like. Such ppl mistake wearing the flag for wanting to embody/being loyal to the country. Whereas Steve often, passionately goes against American authority figures in the name of doing what's right, and doesn't care about being ostracised from a group over it. He wears the flag to set an example, not to signal allegiance. Thinking about it, he was only incidentally wearing that 'patriotic' costume because he was in a USO show... which he abandoned, to go and do the right thing. He could just as easily have been wearing a regular, non-spangly uniform at the time, and have become famous as Captain ~Rogers, for the very same type 1 deeds -- and the 'Captain ~America' title would never have existed!

I love this idea! I'm a Type 6, wing 5; Empathy, Strategic, Individualisation, Connectedness, Intellection. I've got my full Strengthsfinder results so I can also tell you that my next five strengths after these are Input, Ideation, Communication, Developer and Learner. As for the Strengths you've mentioned in the video for Type sixes, Deliberative is my second lowest strength at 33rd, Consistency comes in at 28th, Relator at 23rd and Responsibility at 15th. However, I've also got ADHD... so I am not especially skilled at anything in the Executing Domain - strengths that "help you make things happen" - which is where Deliberative, Consistency and Responsibility all sit. So potentially I'm an outlier. My top strengths skew to the Relationship Building and Strategic Thinking Domains (9 of 10 are in one of these two domains)... which to me I guess made sense for a Type 6, because Relationship Building strengths help to identify and maintain your security / safety... while Strategic Thinking strengths I'd say are more employed for scanning for threats to that same security?

After watching more of your content, I'm now speculating that because ADHD messes with my executive function, strengths connected to my wing and triad centre / motivated by needs in the other two triads have sort of... risen to the top?

I’m a 6 - my top 5 are input, connectedness, empathy, learner, & intellection. I took the top 5 about 13 years ago as a college student. Not sure if those can change over time?
@Smartie084
@Smartie084 7 күн бұрын
Wow. I'm also six and these are really similar to my top strengths, which are: Empathy, Strategic, Individualisation, Connectedness and Intellection... with Input coming in at sixth and learner at tenth for me. In my experience, they don't shift too radically. I took the test twice, 6 years apart. My top strength remained my top strength... four of my top five strengths were unchanged (just slightly reshuffled in order, which was unsurprising as once I'd identified/ understand them I started to lean into them more) and the strength which dropped out of my initial top five, which was Input, only shifted to sixth.

I love your content, but I find your advice for growth a little detrimental because it doesn't truly tackle where type 4's issues come from: Type 4s get it. They hear they need to talk to themselves better. They need to move. They need to help. They need to be postive. They need to have friendships. But the real reason it stings is because it's criticism on top of the many other criticisms they face in themselves and from other people. The straightforward and superficial advice lacks depth, and because they've already been told they think too much, they try to force themselves to see themselves positively or stick to basics. Thus they dig themselves a deeper hole piling the same dirt that's supposed to help them climb out because in the end it will never really feel like them. I don't have a problem with the results in mind, but Type 4s are deep and need to be seen beyond their issues. They have no problem correcting errors if they're eager to learn how to improve, such as at work or school, but when it's the same personal issues they've faced for years, that frustration can pile up and make them fuck themselves over. Point is, dude, Type 4s (and possibly every other type) work the best when intrinsically motivated. Everything you said at the end is external motivation which work for most, but for Type 4s it's simply not authentic until they have an absolute reason to consider it. So instead of the typical, "Just do it," or, "Just be positve," consider that it feels alien to them for a reason. Confront that first instead of making them believe they have to keep beasting things. If they'll always be stuck in their head and heart, than that is where they must find the tools to grow, and no one can do that for them. Just guide them. Put up with the self-talk and ask questions that can give them the meaning they've been looking for. Understand the issues they--not you--want to solve. But alas, not everyone really knows how to do that, so Type 4s learn it themselves so they can do it for other people. That's why they're extremely supportive no matter how thick someone's darkness may be.
