Sounds like the majority of your problems were down to poor fitting to be honest. Obviously you need to ensure space for the handle and mount the shaft planar with the gear mechanism. As for the motor you should have returned it - sounds like a faulty unit.

Just to add. 1 of the ends of the extendable arm points to a tripod leg. The other end points between the other 2 open legs. Having it between the open legs is better in most cases as you can position closer for close work. So I suggest whichever end screw you’ll be using you may have to reverse the arm in the slider to get it in the 2 leg position. I hope this makes sense?

I ordered a "Premium R15 Router Lift and Motor" and it is clear that it is a different unit from the one you show. The R15 is very solidly built and smooth. The instructions for assembly and set up are clear and it even provides a template and router bits for cutting a hole in your workbench. Mine's new but it looks like it will be a delight to own.

I've recent purchased one with many rough bits; dirty, finger printed, and just a little worn from it's rigours during it's past use. She's on my list for a full CLA, and a proper 50 mm SMC from the time of her manufacture, since it came with some off-brand, Pro something or other, that doesn't really suit it. How would I find this on MDF dust off a router

It really is a good system, I would say it's the best small dust collection setup around. When you collect all of the parts to make it work, it blows everything else out of the water, but it sucks (pun intended) that Dewalt has utterly failed at getting it out there. Amazingly, even though it comes as standard on most of their latest dust generating tools, one can't buy the adapters or other parts locally from dealers, and they've left it unnecessarily confusing as to what you need to get.

I have installed one this summer, and all have gone well and the build quality is excellent. Maybe they have resolved the issues. I had to ask Rutlands for some advice on wiring and they were very helpful

one battery would not charge after 3rd use

I’ve just received two items from Rutland, a sample (pair ) of saw horses both obviously different not a pair ,the other a small pillar drill ,the chuck wobbles like a kenwood mixer and the gear cover panel I had to lever off with a screwdriver because the screw fixing plate was bent !needles to say I won’t be buying anything else from them very very shoddy Chinese imports .

PVC works best for feather boards

I am super new at this. Just got a router table. Have not yet turned it on as I was not sure on how high the bit is suppose to be. I learned a lot from your amazing video. I like the two boards method the best. Question I understand making 2 or 3 or 4 passes to get the max groove cut depth.. So on the first pass would the bit be set lower and not to the max as shown by the two boards? Does your method also work for round overs and other bits or just for cutting a groove.

You showed that when the lever is loosened you can adjust the legs and centre pole, would using the centre pole to move the camera (up/down with a gimbal for example) wouldn’t this make the tripod unstable because the legs are then lose (unsecured)? Thanks
