DeWalt DCS331 Cordless Jigsaw - Holtonsfixit101

Welcome to Holtonsfixit101. Today I'm going to have a quick chat about the DCS331 Jigsaw from DeWalt.This jigsaw belongs to my son and used it a few times just for quickness, so I'll take you through a few things and give it a review.The jigsaw is quiet light in weight but when you start adding batteries that's a different story. Depending on the size of the battery you use it starts to make the back of the jigsaw out of balance.Having said all of that this is a very good tool. On the side there's a switch for the pendulum action of the blade of four setting. Off, 1, 2, and 3. On the other side of the jigsaw there's a puffer or blower that blows the dust away from the blade so you can see your cut line. The blade are of quick change “t” type this is done by pulling the lever on the front that allows insertion of the blade , let go of the lever and the blade is held in place.One feature I like the most is your able to flick a switch on the trigger and I think this is a good safety feature because this stops the trigger from being depressed. On about the trigger this is a variable speed trigger switch giving zero to full power from the battery varying the speed depending on how much the trigger switch is squeezed and the thing I've found it will start off very low speed like a sewing machine this allows you start cutting material nice and slow but when the blade is starting to cut in nicely you can add more power and get going with your intended cut.All in all then this jigsaw is very good tool. But it has the down side that it's not brushless, it does have those pesky brushes and whatever battery you choose in amp-hours to hang on the back dictates to runtime your get in use.

I have dcs331n and the bevel plate is sill loose when lever is right across, any deas please?

loosen the lever off, then inside the recess (from the bottom) is a large allen bolt, tighten it 1/4 turn and try the lever into the lock position [straight to the body], if its still loose, repeat the process. if you over tighten, it wont allow you to move the plate, so you can loosen it off a little. when i fixed mine i also had to tighten slightly, the smaller dome head allen bolt next to it...
