Don't know about changing forever, but souls-like with a good story is a miracle indeed. Personally I think that this amorphous storytelling through hundreds of item descriptions and deranged conspiracy theories should be eradicated from this world.

The only thing it could hopefully change is the fact that its narrative and storytelling (NOT story or lore, mind you) were far superior and better told than anything Myazaki has ever done. The rest, not so much. The game was very mid in several areas, had some absolutely unfun and asinine bosses, a very janky parry mechanic, and fairly terrible graphics.

I love this Boss. After the first defeat, I turned on the music to Waltz. And I started “dancing” with him afterwards xD

Milady is such a aggro weapon I started running gravitas on it and flipped it to a strength faith build because 2 handing it at 66 str gives you the max damage possible. Same from soft never gave us a gravity lightning weapon in the dlc. Had to do it myself as milady requires only 17 dex it's easy to meet that requirement early with Millicent talisman or goddrick great rune. Which I've seen a lot of milady builds no one has tried or recommend this but it gives a lot of space control between when opponents have to engage or run away. Yamir helmet death knight chest solitude gauntlet and boots Incase your starting class lacks the stats cast bloodflame blade and if you really want to mix in more gravity can push 200 for gravity missile and some lightning spells 50 int 66 str 50 vit 20 mind 25-30 end 25-33 faith 10 Arc

I certanly don't think Lies of P is linear similar to Dark Souls 3, I don't think that game is linear, even that game has a lot of exploration and different paths not mandatory in order to progress and some maps are really large which makes you explore waaay more. Lies of P is just walking forward. I don't like linear games and I didn't like the fact all bosses have two phases, is a little exhaustive to fight first phase before second phase in every boss, making some bosses with two phases, great, but not every boss. I didn't take a lot of time to beat every boss but I don't like this detail regardless. Lies of P is a good game, but I don't think is better than any from software game as it lack a lot of things that makes me like soulslike: exploration and classes variation. I agree this game changes how non-fromsoftware games are seeing now, but it is far from being what I expect from a soulslike title.

Ive recently gotten the dlc and have been usong the greatsword of solitude with a strength build as a guard counter build usong its 89% damage reduction and i have bren using the deflecting tear and so far it has been really fun. I started at level 150 with 40 vigor, 40 endurance, 13 dexterity and 97 stengrh.

On my First Ng+7 dlc run, I got the Milady, loved it, duped it, got wing stance, got rellanas cameo, and then put a bleed affinity. Pure enemy carnage

If I didn't know who made this game and someone just plasterred the FROM SOFTWARE logo in the beginning i would've believed it. it really is on par with from soft titles in everyway while other "souls like" just feel like a copy

I run a similar build, however i swapped the crucible knight incantations for dragon cult ones. Mostly use siluria tree for regular enemies and small bosses while lighting nuke spells for large bosses or big groups of enemies. Its insane.

The gank fights were the only knock for me, other then that spectacular game. Launch version (before and boss nerfs) was hands down the hardest game I've ever beat.

One of my favorite Souls-like game, right up there with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1. Speaking of the soundtrack, most of it are reimaginations of songs from the developer's rhythm game DJMAX. They did an amazing work in every aspect of this game!

Hey gang just wanna offer some clarification. My title "Lies of p changed soulslikes forever" is saying that this game changed the expectations for all future soulslikes. I am not saying its better than all the main souls games. Soulslikes = games that have a strong insperation taken from fromsoftwares series (lies of p, steelrising), Souls games = fromsoftwares titles (elden ring, dark souls etc.). The main point this video was trying to make was that Lies of P is the best "soulslike" I have played and it felt very close to fromsoftware quality and so it changes the expectations for future soulslikes that may want to compete in this market. Lies of p is a great game but it relied mainly on pre established mechanics from fromsoft games. It definitely didn’t change the genre

Nice vid, I don't fully agree, but think it is a solid and beautiful game. I think the mechanics and quarks they chose are not good and add unnecessary clunkiness to the combat. I changed to play with mods that give the sekiro parry timing and unlock the movement/dodge restrictions and the game feels way better but then it becomes quite easy. They balanced a soulslike around taking away basic functions or making basic functions harder and then made the bosses and enemies a bit more intense. You slowly unlock those basic functions and it becomes a cake-walk, which to me is a sign of them not knowing how to balance the difficulty. Additionally, I feel the flow of soulslikes needs less dialogue than this game has, but that is just a preference. The easy and linear levels were fine but uninteresting, and overall the combat is one of the best in the soulslike genre, but I think I feel that only once the movement functions are unlocked in the skill-tree.

Lies of was the real 2023 goty . Amazing game!

The amount of praise this game has gotten is baffling. I guess it has better combat than The Witcher 3, but that's not saying much.

Between Lies of P and Wukong, i will never play a Fromsoft game again. Both were so much better at the Souls formula while also having huge changes to make them difficult in a fun way unlike Miyazaki who is legitimately a sadist.

To me, this game is better than all from software games.

Honestly Lies of P is my 'Elden Ring'. this game need all the love it can get because I want a sequel ASAP!! the story has SO much potential!

Lol lies of P did NOT change souls game 😂 it’s a solid game but it tries too hard to be BB and fails. It’s not open enough and slow as hell. And I have no clue why everyone in the comment section is saying it’s very difficult lol. Like I said, good game but chill out. This game has changed nothing within souls and to say it’s better than sekiro is just hilariously ignorant and wrong. 😂 bro come at me on this comment section. I genuinely wanna hear some of you people rage over the fact you’re too impatient to handle a true hard souls game

I treated myself to the Korean collectors edition of this game and let me tell you the packaging and set up of it was better and more beautiful than most. This really was a project of love for these developers. I can’t wait to see what the DLC will bring!

Lies of p was an amazing game it just needs a coop system to play with friends!

The Crucible Knights are among the coolest NPCs in the game. Becoming one actually broke my habit of playing a sorcerer as my main build. Great to see that a Crucible Knight build can hold up in the late game too!

I hated the idea of Souls games, and had zero interest in ever playing them. I was intrigued by Lies of P's setting and aesthetics , so I put by biases aside, and settled in for the grind. I ended up loving it so much that I did a second playthrough, then played Lords of the Fallen (2023), and about 25 hours of Elden Ring. Lords of the Fallen was okay, but not nearly as good, and I got bored with the cryptic open world style of Elden Ring. I much prefer the linear style offered by Lies of P, where it's all about overcoming the enemies, rather than running around giant landscapes and giant castles/dungeons looking for the next big fight. I'll immediately snatch up any Lies of P DLC or sequels, because this game was something special, and got me to fall in love with a style of gameplay I thought I'd despise.

I just finished my first playthrough and I'm halfway through my second already lol. This game hits the spot since I was obsessed with Bloodborne and Sekiro. It's an amazing experience and Lies of P is one of my favourite Souls games now. Even though it's a "souls like" I think this game deserves to be called a true souls game. I'm really looking forward to the DLC now.

Atmosphere/combat/mystery. Dark souls is a phenomenon that’ll forever be the best.
