I enjoyed the game very much and think it deserves to be part of the GOTY discussion. That said, here is how I rate the various aspects of the game ... OST ... 10/10 Combat ... 10/10 Visuals ... 10/10 (Backdrops, Naytiba design, etc...) No microtransactions ... 10/10, Puzzles ... 8/10, Mini games ... 8/10, Story ... 9/10 (voice acting could have been better in some spots; but, the plot was thought provoking, in terms of the age old questions concerning the origin and future of mankind. The 3 different endings based on your game time decisions was a nice touch in that regard. And finally yes, fan service ...10/10. I would highly recommend this game ... and not just as filler in between games.

Stellar Blade is underrated in some ways. I think that a lot of people who like the god of War would like the combat in Stellar Blade, but for its character building, it could still learn a lot from games like Final Fantasy 7 remake to take it to that next level. They have a good frame work for the game, and I hope they can improve it for Stellar Blade 2 probably going to be on PS6. The same studio is working on a new game currently code-named Project Witches, so I can't wait to see what that is

It’s not underrated people are just scared and easily offended by pretty female characters. And it’s ridiculous. It’s also nice to unlock things in game again without having to pay extra.

Yeah i dont understand that. The mix of eve as beautiful female, the grafics, the setting of the game and the music is fantastic. Well not all people like the combat style so that also could be a reason. Maybe it gets the attention it deserves with the Nier update.

🤔for me this game was everything I wanted great gameplay, awesome cosmetics which really changes the characters appearance, unlike in others games, Eve herself was worth the price of admission, just peak feminine quality, the level were big and memorable, and the bgm in each stage was just beautiful. I think the story was fine for this game because it was the first game in the series so it has leeway to set the settings for future games, but not be so beefy in story content in the first game, but overall I had no complaints and enjoyed my 3 playthrough back to back of Stellar Blade.

Agree, the whole story was not only about the journey to revail the wrong faith of Mother, but also the courage to pass over it and reborn. That is the reason why in phase 1 Adam keep begging Eve to accept him. 😢

We need to make Stellar Blade win game of the year (GOTY) Why? The add attractive looking character in the game, something that western developers refuse to do. This game has been receiving knockback by people that don`t like the game coz of the way Eve looks (which is bloody stupid) but despite that the game has been successful. Kim Hung Tae has done an amazing job with this game, him and the team has put so much effort into the game like the lip sick between the English and the Korean dub versions are completely different and remember, they didn`t have to do this. The developer`s wife worked as a concept artist on the game, a husband and wife working together on a videogame is cool. They have been giving out free DLCs. They have given us over 30 outfits, what other game does that? The fact they made a hack & slash game in my eyes (which has been in the decline for some years now) is amazing. This is their first time making a console game and for the most part it`s a success. They didn`t just make a boring souls-like, they mixed it up with hack & slash elements, bringing people they like those genres to their game which was very smart of them. For the most part, they listen to want the fans want/ask for. The fact that the developer said the back of the character is more important than the front. I know people want to choose other games to win GOTY however if you do, nothing will change and no statement will be made. We need to make a statement to developers that Shift Up`s practices is what we want in videogames. Now if you don`t like Stellar Blade that`s understandable however if you do, I ask you to choose Stellar Blade for GOTY. If you want game developers to buck up their ideas Stellar Blade needs to win it.

@@Goodongbaek Unfortunately the idiots in charge of it didn`t nominate SB for an option to win it, bloody typical of these people. If SB won GOTY other developers will want to follow Shift Up`s practices which would have been good for us gamers. All we can do is support them and put them on a pedestal when they do good.

Excellent review. Very complete but without spoilers. Also very even handed in covering both positive and negative in an objective manner. It is also well cut visually and you have an even and easy to listen to voice. Keep doing reviews like this. you do it very well.

I admit…I was awful at the parts where you slide down the tube😂😂😂😂. Kept hitting the boxes. This game had more than I thought. Kept reading “25 hr game” but with all the side stuff, I spent 100 hours. Still did not get all the endings or beat Hard mode yet.

The game is everything I was expecting prior to release. It has great surface level polish and gameplay but everything deeper is either okay or absolutely forgettable. I think this game being put on a pedestal simply because it was actually finished by launch, has good gameplay, and has no microtransactions, is a testament to how bad the state of triple-A gaming is.

Great review man. Was enjoying to hear your take on it. For me I have played and beaten every main souls game and while the combat for Stellar Blade is its own unique take, you can tell how much it was inspired by multiple souls and hack and slash games. The story is the weakest part of this game and I will admit a sequel will do well to improve on this but for me it was good enough to serve its purpose but it was not stand out worthy to me if you only consider the cutscenes. If you take the time to read a bunch of data logs and item descriptions the lore actually is deeper than what the cutscenes portray and when you include that I will give it a 7/10. The music has been stuck in my head non stop since I started playing this game in April and while I don't think this game overall has enough going for it to be game of the year it deserves a shot at best soundtrack. That being said the combat is where this game shines. As much as I love Fromsofts style of combat and challenge I honestly prefer Stellar Blade's combat system. Heck I will go so far as to say this is my favorite souls/ hack and slash combat in any game. The game rewards you for mastering both perfect parrying, perfect dodging, and being aggressive. While the enemies and especially the bosses can still ragdoll you around if you are not careful you are not some helpless character just waiting for the enemy boss to go through his 30 second attack combo just to get one or two hits in before rinse and repeat( perhaps I am still frustrated about Consort Radan hahaha). The more you learn and experiment with the combat the more you can have it flow your way when you learn how to implement every aspect of your kit into combat. Just to give some insight there are certain boss's attacks( some of the yellow unblockable :Context most yellow moves can be interrupted I noticed there are certain ones that cannot be) that cannot be interrupted even with beta or burst skills. I think its a great reward the game gives you for dodging and parrying that you can interrupt every boss most of the time mid attack with a beta or burst skill but throwing a few danger moves into the mix keeps you on your toes. I have played through the game 5 times and have beaten every boss in the boss challenge at every difficulty. I will tell you right now every boss from the end of the space colony onward is a major notch up in difficulty. My first playthrough Unlisted Naytiba was THE Skill Check boss for me. I legit died to that thing nearly 50 times, more than I died to Malenia in Elden Ring. As far as the balance of the combat, after 200+ hours while some bosses still give me trouble to this day ( I am not Ongbal) every enemy and boss can still be overcome with skill and knowledge. I cannot think of a single boss that is cheap, you can beat it. For those who read through this all thanks for hearing my rambling but I felt I had to because the combat of this game alone is worthy of praise and like I said before it is my favorite combat system in a game to this day. @@PhantomSouls-04 Its still unreal to me that this game has my favorite combat of any game considering what the very first trailer for Project Eve looked like back in 2019. Even in the first official gameplay trailer of 2021 it still looked too good to be true and I figured it was gonna probably be little more than eye candy. We have seen a LOT of soulslikes and I certainly have not played them all but I have seen enough gameplay of them to still say with certainty that even up against the likes of the old God of War games, Devil May Cry, and Fromsoft Souls series it can be that good of a combat system to keep up with the best in the industry. To anyone on the fence reading this who has not tried this game let me say this. Yes, there is some eye candy for sure but even that pales in comparison to how good the combat is. Everyone should try this game!

@@PhantomSouls-04 I've taken more time to think and look into the story of Stellar Blade and I still say it could use improvements but I only say that exclusively regarding some of the cutscenes and voice delivery for English. The more I took time to read into item descriptions the more I realized I was not fully grasping how much time the story writers must have brainstormed to . I know you have other videos and things you got going on but if you have any follow up thoughts on the story I'd be happy to hear your take on it PhantomSouls-04. Have a great day!
