So this is how west people treat Korean people, if you go to Korean, you will say Korea are rude and racist but look at your behaviour to them.

I think Jennie looked amazing but lots of girls go out in wigs where I live and when you're friends and the wig looks so good sometimes you ask "have you died your hair or is it a sig because I want one" you do stuff like that in your friends circle but maybe that women was a bit rude by grabbing Jennie's hair. Also that's disgusting that these beautiful women of different colour and race wasn't aloud their photo taken. Even with Stray kids those photographers were vile. Treat people as human beings with respect and kindness, the way we look has nothing to do with who we are so why treat others differently it's sad and infuriating. Lee Byung hun is one of my favourite actors and there's no way he should have gone through what he went through on and probably off set.

I knew when I saw Jennie’s hair, it looked off. I don’t think that woman should have touched her hair, but the question was harmless and definitely wasn’t about her race, but the fact her hair just didn’t look real (many people of many different races wear wigs and many look fake) was likely why the woman asked.

Here in the western world everything seem to be racist, why? She just touched her hair and to be honest, it is not common that Asian have blond hair, right? It is whole another thing to go and touch people how ever they like, here western people usually do just like that and that is not common in Asia so we should be careful how we approach somebody. But to always say that things are racist, i don't think so.

Yeah, I'm Korean and I don't get how the Jennie hair thing is supposed to be racist in any way??? Maybe a bit rude or impolite, esp. if they don't know each other well, but I don't understand how its supposed to be racist or racial discrimination???

Calling the hair thing racist is just ridiculous and a big reach, just because she touched it? It's not like she pulled out her white sheet and invented a time machine to the 1800s. I've asked my poc friends many times if their hair is real (mostly because I love how real and beautiful it looks) and they never take offense. She was probably amazed at how real it looked, because I for sure had no idea it was a wig before we got told that.

This demonstrates where cultural differences are most apparent. Touching someone’s hair may also be a demonstration of friendliness and admiration. Trying to kiss someone when it’s not a gesture of hello and you don’t know the person intimately is also considered rude in some countries. It’s not so much dependent on race but on the local culture or the culture you are from. So how can you ensure that each person is being treated appropriately at these multicultural events? Can people learn to be a little more tolerant?

@adamsmoberly
@adamsmoberly 2 сағат бұрын
I agree. I don’t think she should have touched her hair, but I think she asked of it was real, because it didn’t look real and it was too the root. Most people don’t dye their hair to the root, because it can harm your hair. Also, I thought it looked off, so I’m not shocked it was a wig (I personally think that shade of blonde isn’t cute either, it never looks natural).

@adamsmoberly

It’s about the fact Asian people usually have dark color hair and apparently pointing out that Jennie was wearing a wig was supposed to be a dig at it not being her natural hair color. That’s such a odd thing to take from the situation. I’m confused why anything outside of that woman touching Jennie’s hair is an issue.

The Hapa thing is maybe a misunderstanding. I think to call it racism you need to know context of the world and its use among the community of the person using it. In this case the author is Filipino and probably mix, as a mix person that's something we remark not as offensive but a way to integrate with us even if aren't the same races. And the word hapa it's complicate, cus there's people who call themselves hapa as a way to say they're mix, pacific islander and something else without specification and not derogatory meaning. Words change and transform their meaning with time and their use by other cultures. About anything else in the article I can't tell what are the intentions, and about the other examples, yes it's awful how they're treated. But their skin is thick, I love how skz managed the situation in the gala event, they showed them what it means to have class.

I quite literally couldn't agree with you more, you are indeed correct that the odds are in favor of that particular quote having never been intended to insult. I also agree on the point regarding Stray Kids. They truly seem to be very emotionally tough and I think they have such a deep love for their craft and have invested so much of their youth, their bodies, minds, hearts and souls into getting where they are. That no 2bit racism spewed by living septic tank who possess some of the highest levels of toxic masculinity and blatant ignorance I have ever seen from a paparazzi... To ever actually effect them. To put it simply, he was a tool. On the other hand, I'm sure that he successfully managed to ruin his career and his dignity all in that moment. So at least there was a bright spot! Because I'll be damned if I didn't get hit by a wave of pure secondhand embarrassment watching that clip. Embarrassment that DID NOT have anything to do with Stray Kids, IN ANY WAY. (In fact, I had the utmost amount of compassion and respect for their situation.) It was him who was completely embarrassing and a sorry excuse for both a "man" and just plain for a human being. He is in a league of his own with how utterly embarrassing his comments were FOR HIM. A full grown elder adult who was behavior like a 5 year old in terms of his comments, but s 2 yesr old in terms of thinking not only was everything he was about to say ok, its also funny, and pwople will like it. 🙄 Disgusting... I think that was the clip that actually bothered me the most now that I'm truly contemplating it. Which is definitely saying something. Im just glad they didn't allow it to sour them, nor did they retaliate. Very mature, unlike somebody. Oh, an I think you meant to say "if they aren't the same ethnicity", as we are all of the very same race. (Except that Paparazzi... no, just no. Or anyone who wears socks with sandals. Thats inhuman.) The rest of us however are most definitely all cut from the very same beautiful cloth. Good Ole Homosapiens Sapiens... the species with such a high superiority complex, we just couldn't help but to double down on the name. Lol

As someone who has mental health issues, they are NO EXCUSE for treating others badly. Have I done that in the past? Yes. And i took responsibility for my actions and apologized. Mental health issues didn't possess me and force me to say mean things, I did that. I regret it, and I made it clear I would never do that again. Accountability cannot be forgotten when treating mental health.

Unfortunately, it is the norm now a days to be single. I have a boyfriend but I have no plans of ever married. As a matter of fact my boyfriend has lung cancer and he is sick all of the time from chemo treatments. However, I plan on moving back to my hometown next year. And I have not told my boyfriend about it. However, I am moving back to my hometown because my mother is sick and I want to spend time with her while she is a live.

She played a strong female character in my fair lady in the time when k-drama industry was all about clumsy & docile female lead partnered with arrogant bratty male lead. They challenged the norm and reversed the role in that drama and it's part of the reason of the hate that she received back then but the haters just can't use that as a reason for their hate so they have to dig deeper and find a more logical reason for their hatred that won't label them sexist.

Fair criticism is an opportunity for growth. She's a human, not the characters she portrays, even if a bit of her comes out in each of them. Allow her to grow and to be human. It's what you'd want for yourself too, yes? Like so many Koreans, her acting is on point. The effort it took for her to portray Attorney Woo was heroic. She delivered long, complex lines again and again. She followed that up with her singing and more great acting in Castaway. Love it. Best of all, she smiles from her eyes and it's adorable. Those are smile you can't fake. So adorable.
