Also, you absolutely can quantify the value of a safety compared to a QB (in several ways). Sure, none of them are perfect, but they do represent the reality to a reasonable degree. First way is market value, simply what teams are willing to pay for certain players and positions is a reasonable indicator of their value. This probably isn't a good way to compare specific players but you can take league averages and essentially rank the value of positions. Another way to compare positions is in their respective correlations to winning or to side performance (QBs to offensive rating, Safeties to defensive rating). With that said, the QB is the most impactful position in football and thus they are paid accordingly. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think there is a good argument against that statement. That's also why QBs win MVPs and it's so damn hard for WR or RBs to do so. That essentially leaves the GOAT conversation to QBs because of their immense value and impact of the game. Of course, you can simply disagree with that but if that's the case then that's probably where the conversation ends.
@WenbanMtn3 ай бұрын
These are reasonable points but there are rebuttals for so many of them. You have to take into account the fact that Brady had very little continuity with his receivers. Yes, his TEAMS have been great but for the most part, the talent has often been on the defensive side especially for the first third of his career. So, then the argument becomes is it harder to win with a bad offense or bad defense for the sake of simplicity if we let them be equivalent then Brady wins because offensively, he had a very very very weak supporting cast and managed 3 championships. Peyton played with 7-time all-pro Marvin Harrison to start his career and prime Demarius Thomas in Denver. Brady has had great talent at receiver, but he had NO ONE for the first 6 YEARS as a starter (He was throwing to fucking Troy Brown, Deion Branch, Reche Caldwell, David Patten, etc.) and he was still able to win 3 Superbowls with those guys. Not only that he made All-pro 2nd team in 2005 throwing TDs to 12 different receivers, NONE of which caught for over 1000 yards. The years before 2007 is the only "blemish" on his career statistically and its in large part because he was throwing to literal randoms at the START of his career. While at other positions wins and playoff success is a poor indication of individual performance, the quarterback position is probably the most important and impactful position in all of sports with a high correlation of QB performance and wins so there is good reason to attribute wins to QBs (obviously defense is another massive variable and Brady has admittedly had the upper hand to his peers in that regard). Then the second he gets some serious talent on the team he starts breaking records in 2007. Add Randy Moss and Wes Welker and he throws for 4800 yards and 50 TD and wins MVP. I think you make some good points with the fact that Rodgers and Manning both have comparable stats but you're off base discounting the longevity of Brady's career. In hindsight if you were to inherit a team and could pick from rookie year which guy you want knowing their career stats are a lock, you would be so stupid to not pick Brady. 21 years of having a top-5 quarterback vs 16 years from Manning vs 15 and counting from Rodgers. Also, there is definitely nuance to some of those individual awards. First off Manning got 2 of his MVPs while Brady had NO receivers. Literally look up the receivers Brady had when Manning won and compare. Secondly, there are some funky years Brady should absolutely have gotten some All-Pro recognition and didn't due to poor luck. In 2011 he threw 5,235 yards, 37 touchdowns with 12 interceptions and DIDN'T make the AP team. 5,235 yards is 5th most ALL-TIME and what's even more ridiculous is that in 2011 when he did it, it was 2nd most ALL-TIME! Instead, he was displaced by Rodgers who won MVP throwing for 4643 and a ridiculous 46 TDs to 5 INTs, and Brees with the most yards ever (at the time) with 5,476 yards with 46 TDs and 14 INTs. Obviously, Rodgers and Brees were plenty deserving but any other season Brady has an all-time great season like that, and he surely gets MVP or at the VERY LEAST AP. That's piss poor luck if I've ever seen it. Now let's take a look at Mannings MVPs...two are all-time great seasons. The one with the Bronco's is absolutely GOAT'ed. But two of his MVP seasons are sooo weak and one that is mid at best. In 2008 (the year Brady goes down with an ACL tear) Manning wins MVP. That year he threw for 4002 yards, 27 TDs, and 12 INTs (HUHHH?! Talk about weak competition). 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021. What are those 8 years I listed you ask? Those are all NON-MVP seasons in which Brady threw for more yards, more touchdowns and LESS (or equal) interceptions than Mannings 2008 MVP season. Manning's first MVP was in 2003 in which he threw for 4269 yards, 29 TDs and 10 INTs. This one is more forgivable as it was certainly a different time but still weak and when Brady had no receivers. Take any of Brady's MVPs and Manning has not replicated those numbers, even Brady's weakest MVP which was when he threw for 3,900 yards but with a ridiculous 36-4 TD-INT ratio (on near career low pass attempts). And then in 2020 he throws 4,633 yards (3rd most in the league) and 40 TDs (2nd most in the league) and goes 11-5 with the Bucs his first year there and somehow doesn't make a pro-bowl?! Oh yeah and by the way he's 43 years old at that point and wins a Superbowl for good measure. And the next season he proceeds to throw the most yards he's ever thrown (5,316 yards) and second most TDs (43), leading the league in both categories, at age 44. The dude has won 7 Superbowl's out of the 10 he's played in 21 seasons. That means over the 21 seasons he played you could just bet Brady would be in the Superbowl and the probability is the same as flipping a coin. He went to 14 conference championships in that span (67%). There are only 3 TEAMS with more conference championship appearances than Brady and one of those is the Patriots. There absolutely is such a thing as a killer instinct and winning mentality and Brady has it more than anyone in history.

Tom Brady is the definite GOAT. He went to 10 SBs and won 7. Mahomes can never be the GOAT because he was beaten by the GOAT in the SB. Brady appeared in 10 and won 7. There is no denying that he is the GOAT. Joe was great he won 4 SBs in 6 years and is 4-0 in the SB. But....he only appeared in 4 SBs and not in 10 SBs and he has 3 less SB wins than Brady does so he is not the GOAT. Is he great? Sure he was....but he wasn't even the original GOAT. Terry Bradshaw went to 4 Super Bowls in 6 years and won them all. Bradshaw is 4-0 in the Super Bowl in 6 years exactly like Joe would do after him. So Montana is tied with Bradshaw and Bradshaw did it before Joe and in an era that was even more brutal than the one Joe was in. Bradshaw did it in a more brutal era when there were far less teams and that made it even tougher because you had to play the same teams all the time and it made it tougher to win. So Really, Brady because of the number of championships appeared in and the number one far exceeds the others. Then it would be a tie between Bradshaw and Montana with Bradshaw having the edge due to the reasons mentioned. Mahomes isn't even in the debate but if he ever is he would still be trumped by Brady because he lost an AFC championship to Brady and he lost a SB to Brady. So he can't ever be the GOAT because he got spanked by the GOAT and that SB he lost to the GOAT along with the AFC Championship he lost to the GOAT remove him from any type of GOAT status. Mahomes was neutered by the GOAT and therefore he can never be the GOAT. LOL

I’ve talked about it in my shows all about my unbiased support of Justin Fields. One thing that doesn’t help Justin Fields this season is his 4 games missed with Injury. Personally I believe if Justin played those games, bears would be 3-1 at least and the bears have a completely different conversations. Even with the missed games the bears were only 1 game difference to the Packers going into the last week and could have ended with the same record. The coaching for Justin this season wasn’t even bad…it was awful. There were multiple games where the bears called 15+ screen plays and throws 1-3 yards down the field. While when Justin fields was throwing downfield he was statistically one of the best downfield passers in the NFL. His sack problem is understandable but you need to also take into account that many time his sacks were quickly pressured in under 2 seconds which mostly was to the C and RG. I believe depending on which OC the bears bring in with Justin at the Helm this is a 9-12 win team next season Lastly obviously with #1 the pick is Caleb Williams if they decide to go QB (Drake Maye isn’t gonna shoot up the rankings like Baker did in 2018) but Caleb Williams I believe has many problems that will lead to him being worse then fields in a window where you have Kmet, DJ Moore maybe JJ, Brisker, TJ, and Tremaine all lock up in the window. Caleb still needs a lot of adjusting to the NFL compared to Justin who algae already proven he can go up against some of the best in the NFL

Agree that Fields is not the answer so it is best to move on. You have to think that Caleb Williams will be at worst at least as good as Fields with a much better upside. And you reset the rookie salary clock so you can still spend on other positions. The Bears would be crazy to pass up taking a QB at number 1.....
@drewerickson45568 ай бұрын
Hear me out. We trade number one and get a haul for it. We then use all the future picks we have and maybe throw fields in there and trade for Justin Herbert. QB problem solved. Fr tho, as a Fields truther I can’t find it in me to move on from him yet even with the great situation that the bears are in. That being said if the Bears do draft a QB I also would agree that Drake Maye is the better option. You should definitely make a video about the QB prospects.
