My daughter introduced me to BTS a few years back she was 14 at the time and with a big crush on Jin (she still does). I was drown by RM immediately, his intelligence, his speeches, his poise, his voice and his leadership. Then I started listening to their music and watching RUN BTS during the pandemic and I fell for them all. My daughter is 19 now and I’m 52, and we are proud ARMYs. I have a big Koya 🐨 on my bed, My husband never complains, he knows that’s his place 😂😂💜

Every slide in the background has a meaning btw. They are also wearing Hanbok, a traditional Korean outfit and the choreography is also inspired from traditional Korean dance. As mentioned in the guide you watched earlier, this is the same year (2018) BTS received a cultural merit for promoting Korean culture across the globe

You know its the end of a Stray Kids video when you see their motto, "Stray Kids all around the world, you make Stray kids STAY." IN 2021 Stray Kids did a performance with deadpool as the focus. Someone showed it to Ryan and he became a Stray Kids lover right away. Ryan contacted Bang Chan (leader of Stray kids) and expressed his love for the performance. Their sent messages back and forth. Then Ryan sent Chan a signed bottle of his alcohol, and Chan sent Ryan a signed CD. They finally met online and became fast friends. Skip ahead to now and Ryan and Hugh agreed to be in the SKZ MV since it was being shot in NY. They also asked SKZ to make a song for deadpool. The song is called "Slash." Its on the deadpool soundtrack. Marvel had no idea Ryan and Hugh were doing this until it was already done. Good thing too. They probably would've said no and this video was great advertising. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpKbhpyIoadkZ6Msi=vDh_6E7sz4G_729W

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. U got RM right, nice. After RM JHope raps than Suga raps. Love this song and MV. So happy u love it too. You should check out the remix with Nicki Minaj too and share your thoughts with us. =0) I am May 2019 Army and I still have not seen all the live's for this song. I deal with anxiety and depression. And BTS just calms me. They make me so happy so I feel you. Pls watch DKDKTV explanation for Idol. You know this MV needs explaining, lol. A few things that were not mentioned were 1. Suga wore the Snow White sweater because he was told he was too pale. So he celebrates that. 2. Jimin holds a fan and walks provocatively with it in one part of the MV. Jimin was criticized for being too feminine. Rolls eyes. So he is showing he does not care. He loves himself and he will do as he pleases. 3. JHope wearing a bugs bunny shirt also has meaning. Sadly, i have forgotten what it was. Possibly that he is very energetic and he is proud of this and does not think anything is wrong with it. Hugs. Have a good week. Happy Holiday! -NY US 2019 A Army💜 #YouAreEnough Fun Fact: Idol is BTS mixing African and Korean Culture to make for a stunning MV!!! They used traditional Korean instrument to drive the beat of Afro House music. They used West African print material (Ankara) for their suite designs! And they incorporated popular African dances into their choreography! The "Gwara Gwara" is the dance move they are doing with the knee isolation and arm in the air and was first popularized by Rhianna. I LOVE THIS VIDEO and THE SONG!!! You should watch 'Idol explained by a Korean' DKDKTV. They brake down the lyrics, the visuals, the clothes, and cultural references we would never know otherwise. I highly recommend watching/reacting to them. They know what they're talking about. They also have 'explained' for 'UGH', 'DDAENG', 'Daechwita', and others. Love their channel. BTS - IDOL Explained by a Korean - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f32agXigoJajr9U @ohteeseven7571 said on 7/11/23 I'm from south africa so it was amazing seeing them use south african influenced beats in the song and doing the gwarra gwarra (a dance move that originated in south africa) in their choreography. The move at 16:16 is the gwarra gwarra for those who are curious. @yhoselinbaltazarichuta1416 said on 7/11/23 Believe me when I tell you that Idol is one of the most sarcastic songs I have ever seen in a kpop group. You don't like the supposed CGI or special effects You don't like performances You don't like the videos loaded the autotune Well, this song in the lyrics and the video makes fun of you and gives you more than what you say you hate Also for those who say that idols are not artists This song is incredible, in addition to the Korean cultural references, the clothes, the colors, everything is an invitation to throw a party to love and value ourselves. Thanks guys for the reaction I hope you can translate my comment We love you @NanciBK said on 1/29/24 Things they don't explain: This whole video is a clap back at criticisms they received as well as celebrations of their uniqueness. RM was criticized for using snapchat filters in his livestreams, so he uses them here, saying "I know who I am, I know what I want, and I'm never gonna change." Suga was criticized for being too pale - wears a Snow White Sweater and pulls on it while saying "I love myself" j-hope called too skinny and lanky, like Bugs Bunny - Dances in Bugs Bunny Sweater with skinny inflatable tube guy Jimin called too feminine - dances seductively with traditional female Korean feather dance fan while saying "I'm so fine wherever I go" Taehyung criticized for "dressing like a grandpa" for his love of classic fashion - so he goes full grandpa with a goofy print shirt and suspenders and glasses and does this grandpa suspenders dance. The Jin "incident" was when king size condoms were spotted in his room in a livestream and everyone lost their minds. LOL Criticized for having videos that were "too colorful" they used ALL THE COLORS here. Criticized for using green screen, even though they are actually famous for their practical sets and effects, they went all out with the green screen in this MV. @imajinallthepurple said on 1/24/24 One thing I disagree with DKDKTV on is the clothing comment at the end. If you watch XCeleste's explanation video you'll see that they've actually stuffed the MV with things they've been criticised for like specific shirts, glasses, being too pale (Suga's Snow White t-shirt), being lanky (J-Hope and Bugs Bunny), etc. I highly recommend watching it even off screen because she focuses on the group related details so the two explanations hardly overlap and on that part she knows a lot more about them than DKDKTV does. The amount of details is honestly astonishing. 🤯 @user-ij9qp7yi5m said on 1/24/24 The kore (whale) can actually also refer to their song Whalien52 and to Korea. 💜 We are the purple whales, after all, that were finally heard. The tokki (rabbit) / talking is also their usual wordplay. Both are implied at the same time. Comebacks are so much fun! When ARMYs in one part of the world go to bed others wake up and take over. The sun never sets! 🌞 And, of course, for special occasions we're all awake, no matter what time!

@alex__andrei said on 5/25/24 Okay, so this is gonna be a long comment so bear with me! “Blood Sweat & Tears” is the title track of one of their albums called “WINGS” (2016). This particular song and entire album uses a plethora of references that link to one book: “Demian” by german writer Hermann Hesse. This book tells the story of a young boy named Emil Sinclair and his childhood growing up during pre-World War I. He struggles to find his new self-knowledge in the immoral world and is caught between good and evil. Already we have some clues as to what this song/MV is about: the battle between good and evil and temptation. The video opens up with the members in a museum; notice how every member have symbols of innocence, such as a bike or slingshot; also each younger member is paired with an older member, their “mentor”, referencing “Demian”. Jin, the oldest member, stands alone. He is staring at the painting called “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Peter Bruegel the Elder. (good angels fighting Lucifer/evil angels fallen from Heaven). On both sides, there is a black and white door, innocence and evil/temptation. Now, If you notice at 5:40, Jungkook is on a swing, and behind him is the painting called “The Lament for Icarus” by Herbert James Draper. Jungkook is representing Icarus troughout the whole video. (V also represents Icarus but in a different form). The swing could represent Icarus being safe, the Icarus following orders (he is supported by a swing, safe from the wrongdoings of the world). Also, notice the lollipop in his hand. This could symbolize either another symbol of innocence, or Icarus’ age as he was a child. Later we see a drop of wax dripping on JK’s finger (6:40). This is a representation of the fall of Icarus and foreshadows what will happen to him later in the video (JK licking the said wax from his finger, a symbol of Icarus’ temptation that would later come in as his downfall, foreshadowed by the painting in the back). At 7:51, V is representing Icarus but also a fallen angel (this scene can also symbolize the fall of Lucifer: he rebelled against God and fell from grace, tempting more angels to do so in the process, thus connecting to the painting at the beginning “The Fall of the Rebel Angels”, maybe this is why he smirks after he falls down the balcony). Behind him we see the painting “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This scene represents the death of Icarus (he ignored his father’s warning about flying too close to the sun, until the wax that kept his wings attached to his body melted…and so he fell to his death-again we have the theme of temptation-Icarus falling to temptation. But…at 8:07/8:14 we see Jungkook again, but this time he is floating. He in this scene is dead, and him floating in the air represents how Icarus started “floating” in the water after he fell and drowned, connecting V’s and JK’s scenes. We also see feathers floating in the air and on the floor as well (being underwater). So the whole Icarus imagery in this MV comes in like this: stage 1: We see JK/Icarus on the swing, Icarus being alive; stage 2: V/Icarus falls off the balcony and into the water; stage 3: The painting in the background (“Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”) foreshadows JK/Icarus when he is floating/drowned (him being dead/underwater); stage 4: the painting behind JK (“The Lament for Icarus”) foreshadows V/Icarus having no wings on anymore which is the final stage. Now, the kissing scene. (RM is reading a paragraph from “Demian” at 8:37, if you didn’t read the book, you will not really understand; also, this scene portrays Jin letting go of the balloon. This can represent letting go of his childhood innocence, his youth and moving into adulthood. During the interlude of the MV, all the members run towards the exit except for Jin and V. If you notice, Jin has a very confused and scared look on his face while V blindfolds him with his hands. After that, a white statue with black wings appears: this statue represents Abraxas-the deity is a representation of the moral and immoral, good and evil. After that, Jin walks closer to it, takes a look at it then kisses it. This scene represents how Jin has finally embraced both good and evil into himself (by kissing Abraxas). We then see V with his wings cut off, giving a smile to the camera (him smiling could symbolize that Jin’s growth is complete, and he finally welcomed chaos into himself which leads to self betterment and growth: Theory of Carl Jung: accepting your shadow). So this whole MV in general is revolving around Jin most of the time, he is the main protagonist. The quote above the mirror is written in German (belonging to Nietzsche) and translates as: “You need to have chaos in yourself in order to give birth to a dancing star”, meaning that if you don’t accept chaos (evil/temptation) into yourself, you will not be able to grow to your full potential and complete your individuation process. There is a lot of reference to art and biblical symbols such as the sculpture behind J-hope which is “The Pietà” by Michelangelo, symbolic within the BU; at 8:10, V is posing similar to “The veiled Virgin” sculpture by Giovanni Strazza; all the members sitting at a table in a very heavenly place, similar to the “Last Supper”, the apple and chalice and many others…

@alex__andrei said on 2/28/24 Okay, so this is gonna be a long comment so bear with me! Now, If you notice at 2:14, Jungkook is on a swing, and behind him is the painting called “The Lament for Icarus” by Herbert James Draper. Later we see a drop of wax dripping on JK’s finger (3:53). This is a representation of the fall of Icarus and foreshadows what will happen to him later in the video (JK licking the said wax from his finger, a symbol of Icarus’ temptation that would later come in as his downfall, foreshadowed by the painting in the back). At 5:19, V is representing Icarus but also a fallen angel (this scene can also symbolize the fall of Lucifer: he rebelled against God and fell from grace, tempting more angels to do so in the process, thus connecting to the painting at the beginning “The Fall of the Rebel Angels”, maybe this is why he smirks after he falls down the balcony). But…at 5:36/5:42 we see Jungkook again, but this time he is floating. He in this scene is dead, and him floating in the air represents how Icarus started “floating” in the water after he fell and drowned, connecting V’s and JK’s scenes. We also see feathers floating in the air and on the floor as well (being underwater). Now, the kissing scene. (By the way, RM is reading a paragraph from “Demian” at 6:05, if you didn’t read the book, you will not really understand; also, this scene portrays Jin letting go of the balloon. This can represent letting go of his childhood innocence, his youth and moving into adulthood) During the interlude of the MV, all the members run towards the exit except for Jin and V. If you notice, Jin has a very confused and scared look on his face while V blindfolds him with his hands. After that, a white statue with black wings appears: this statue represents the god Abraxas-the deity is a representation of good and evil. It is not good or evil, it is both (good and evil into the same word). After that, Jin walks closer to it, takes a look at it then kisses it. This scene represents how Jin has finally embraced both good and evil into himself (by kissing Abraxas), thus destroying the world of only-innocence that he has lived in prior to this. We then see V with his wings cut off, giving a smile to the camera (him smiling could symbolize that Jin’s growth is complete, and he finally welcomed chaos into himself which leads to self betterment and growth: Theory of Carl Jung: Accepting your Shadow). Again, Icarus but also a fallen angel. So this whole MV is revolving around Jin most of the time, he is the main protagonist of this it (his path to adulthood, maturity and acceptance of chaos within). The quote above the mirror at 8:15 is written in German (belonging to philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche) and translates as: “You need to have chaos in yourself in order to give birth to a dancing star” basically meaning that if you don’t accept chaos (evil/temptation) into yourself, you will not be able to grow to your full potential. At the end of the MV we see the old version of Jin, the version that was only pure and innocent cracking, there is no chaos in him and so he cannot give birth to the dancing star. Other scenes that further strengthen the overall theme of the MV include 2:52, RM “drinking” the poison (temptation), 4:32, a “Last Supper” kind of setting in which all the members have an apple and a chalice, both signs of temptation; 5:14, a blindfold and an apple (forbidden-fruit) and so on. Like I said, this is only a small part! There is so much I didn’t say here, and also keep in mind there is also the BU (Bangtan Universe) consisting of a fictional storyline, this MV is heavy in that matter as well, literally a whole new storyline apart from the one I said! 💜 @Ash-ny1kg said on 3/30/24 So the circles at the end of the short films were really important because they show how the pairs switched up for this era! Yoongi’s circle got added to Jimin’s to make a new symbol, Namjoon’s got added to Jungkook's to make a new symbol, and Hobi’s got added to Taehyung’s to make a new symbol. The original pairs from I Need U STILL apply to the storyline but ya those short films kind of help you understand why the pairings were like this for the blood sweat and tears mv. @joannabartocha1815 said on 5/25/24 The whole Wings album is about entering adulthood and facing temptations of the world. Blood, Sweat and Tears concept is based on the novel by Herman Hesse titled Demian. There is so many details, that I'm happy you're going to watch explanation video later. In the future if you have time, it would be great if you could check out dance practice videos (on Bangtan TV). They really show the whole choreography clearly, on live TV shows or concerts, camera work takes away from the dance. Of course I'm only recommending that, if you are interested in choreography no pressure I love live performances because you can hear them sing live with no effects on their voices, so you can clearly tell who sings which part. Thank you for your reaction! See you in the next one!

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad you liked it. Great song. Adore it. Jimin was amazing in this. His voice the dance the fit, chef's kiss! We learn here that Suga can play the organ just as good as he can play the piano. He so awesome! All of them sound seductive just a pleasure for the ears. They look like they are in a museum to me. =0] I was so surprised by the choreo when i saw it seperate. They leave a lot out. Fire!=0p Also, pls check out the explanation video for this MV. Bookish Theories is good. Rosan @xCeleste might have one too. Just take a look see. V is a fallen angel to me. He gives in to temptation all of them do. If u read the lyrics and pay attention to the symbolism the song is clearly about temptation not a relationship. The song and MV fit well together. There are a lot of layers in this one. BTS won 8 awards that year for this album and MV. They just swept the award show. Best day ever! much deserved. This is a BU story connected video too. They fell into temptation. Last supper is right. There were a LOT of biblical references and other hidden easter eggs. Like see no evil, hear no evil speak no evil was all in the choreo for a reason. I hope u watch the dance practice. It's so good. Black swan was created in 2020. This video is years earlier. Hugs -2019 ARMY NY USA 💜 Gorey Fantod said on 12/20/21 A note about the organ music you might find interesting/relevant: The piece that is heard is Buxtehude's, "Passacaglia in D minor," which is also the piece that Emil hears in the Pistorius section of the novel.* * All credit goes to ReactToTheK (specifically Yunyi), for figuring that out & tracking down the reference. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWS7pXV8lNaLZtE M M said on 12/20/21 I suppose you understand why this song has been used during lectures at uni haha. You're definitely on the right track, but there's sooo much more hidden in this song/mv. I love the explanation video by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6XPmHSLepusoMk ). Fellow reactor Cedric Gegel actually did a great job breaking it down too, though he did it twice - first time for the more "apparent" meaning, and second time for the underlying meanings from the BU. tinyvantte said on 12/16/22 Some trivia about cinematography for u guys 👀: • RM reads a paragraph of "Demian" by Herman Hesse at 2:30 in the music video. And at the very beginning, RM is shown reading "Demian" by Herman Hesse. • At the beginning of the video, Jin looks at a painting titled The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Bruegel. • When Jungkook is dangling on the swing in the MV 0:20, the painting behind him is called The Lament of Icarus by Herbert James Draper. • In J-Hope' solo scene in the MV, he is standing behind Michelangelo’s Pieta. • When V is sitting on the ledge of the balcony in the MV, in front of him is the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, also by Bruegel. • The table part: Apples are a sign of temptation and sin (apples are also mentioned in Demian). And on each plate, we see that each member has a chalice and an apple. All these things right in front of them are “tempting” them to sin. nighthawk326 said on 2/28/22 Here are all the art pieces represented in the mv: - Pieta (Michelangelo) - The Fall of the Rebel Angels (Pieter Bruegel) - Landscape with the Fall of Icarus (Pieter Bruegel) - The Lament for Icarus (Herbert James Draper) - Baroque Fresco (Giuaglio Quaglio) - Perseus with the head of Medusa (Benvenuto Cellini) - Livia Drusilla as Ops, goddess of fertility - Laocoon and his Sons - Crouching Venus - Venus de Milo - Venus at the Forge of Vulcan (Francesco Solimena) - Ares Borghese - Diana of Versailles - Angelus Novus (Paul Klee) - Regimental Band (Darsie Japp) - French fashion photograph (Henri Manuel) verna3120 said on 2/28/22 Loved your reaction and your thought process as you waded through the MV. And yes, I believe you were spot on about the “money/more” part. I think it’s a double entendre. It is more, more,, more (greed), but there’s also a saying in English, that “money is the root of all Evil”. @NanciBK said on 2/4/24 Most of their songs have layered meanings, but this one is indeed a deep dive. Their songs usually have a surface meaning that is universal, deeper stories that are personal to them, a layer under that which is a more nuanced dive into things like history, philosophy, psychology, etc, and sometimes also story clues and context relating to the BU (Bangtan Universe) all in the same song. Their MVs add another layer to the art in terms of the clues and storytelling going on visually. Add to that their choreography which is not just dope moves, but nuanced performance art storytelling, with moves related to the themes and lyrics. Add to that the fact that the song structures themselves can tell part of the story, like a song done in all downbeat minor chords which is about being caught in lies you tell yourself which has a major, soaring and uplifting chord on the chorus which is itself a lie within the song. Or a song about the 7 of them continuing to make music together and be with ARMY, which is full of unusual 7th chords. Or a pause and silence in the song instrumentation when the lyrics say "I take a breath." Or a song that uses basketball sounds as all the percussion, like sneaker squeaks, ball sounds, etc. Add to that their short films and other media like their mobile game and webtoons and books and so forth that continue their stories. They. Are. Geniuses. The choreography in B,S&T is seductive because there is a seduction taking place. It is the guys who are being seduced away from their childhood by the temptations of the adult world. Ultimately, they must surrender to the darkness because that is how you grow up, by letting go of the innocence of childhood like Jin lets go of the balloon. It's melancholy to embrace the dark and say goodbye to childhood, but you don't plunge into the dark headfirst, you add it to the light as a duality. Just as Jin embraced Abraxis, the god of both Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, we all must carry that duality within us, the chaos, the shadows, that allows us to be fully realized adult people capable of growth and creativity or giving "birth to the dancing star." Once they surrender and the blindfold comes off, they are not left in that black and white world of the duality. Instead, the world bursts with new colors, the creative expression of which they are now capable. In the end Jin sees the shell of childhood cracking as his new self begins to emerge. This song is off the masterpiece album Wings, which is all inspired by Demian. But so many of their songs and albums are masterpieces and every album is a concept album with a story to tell and they ask you to listen to tracks in order because they are in a storytelling order. Albums are based on psychological theory, or philosophy, or life stages and passages or personal struggles and experiences. The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series is about that moment between adolescence and adulthood, when you have to make real decisions as young adults, and the turbulence and challenges of those times. Jimin's album Face and BTS album BE are both pandemic albums, full of their pandemic struggles as well as the things that got them through. RM's album Indigo is the story of his 20s, triumphs, fears, lessons learned. Jungkook's album Golden and BTS album series Love Yourself all explore love in various ways, phases and types. V's album Layover tells a story of escaping and creating a virtual fantasy world where he can be together with BTS and ARMY, as told through songs about love, loss and longing. And so on.... There is SOOOOO much more for you to discover. I'm so glad you have joined us here in our cozy rabbit warren. BTS is love. ARMY is love. My Comment is right above a comment The X. The explanation explain explanation video for BTS music video Doesn't hurt to watch to watch the Filmy of the Filming of the music video documentary either. End Their live performances Are practically all the time better than the music videos Choreography while singing not lip syncing singing live wild dancing! Most western artist dance a little bit but they're not singing intensely while they're dancing intensely! To be able to do that they practice singing their songs while running on treadmills They also have Aids and other Staff members Even medical personnel backstage. There are people backstage With respirators respirators and oxygen for a case the members of BTS need it! A quick Explanation of idle Basically they were getting Flack and Hate comments that they were betraying their ethnic culture Bean Korean And becoming becoming too westernized! I'm not doing practical Effects in their music videos. So in idol music video they purposely did a whole lot of CGI Put the music video is full of Korean culture The rabbit in the moon is part of Korean culture it wasn't stuck there just for fun. The Dance choreography is taken from Korean Culture Also. Instead of watching the music video twice You should start watching the music video once then watch the explanation video Watching the video twice does not make you understand what the song and music video are really about Watching a explanation video does! And to understand what was involved in making the music video watch the shooting sketch documentary for every music video!

Another great video. You remind me of myself when I first discovered them. So much to watch & hard to resist watching it. I think my best early BTS moment was seeing the MTV Unplugged performance of Fix You by Coldplay. It’s so perfectly simple it showcases the incredible talent of each artist and you really have time to hear and see them. Everything felt more intense after really discovering the full colours of their talent and emotion.
