I was only as loyal as they were to me, the attitude was the company utilized some people while keeping others on ice semi permanently. Once I, like many actors said " To hell with this, I'm working no matter what " that is when they got pissed. Hollywood had it coming.

Lively comes across like she didn't put any effort into the project, apart from when she was on set, or on camera. The interviews are a huge tell: she's not thinking about DV; She's not talking about DV, and she doesn't know how to.

I'm confused: Does he want her to feel ashamed because he thinks she's fat? Or is his desire for her barely contained, as indicated by him 'lingering' too long in the kissing scene? What?

I saw the movie not knowing anything about it except that it was adapted from a book. I really really really like it. Got home and unbeknownst to me my sister was reading it near the end, passed it to me that night. I read it and it was good too. I was convinced the storyline was good enough that I think had the explicits been removed it still would be a great story. I didn’t have any issues with the main actress or the bad boy actor at all. I’d never read the book so I went in with zero expectations. I’m glad for that bc I came out thinking of all the Lily’s I might know living in a closet of fear and alone. The movie was incredibly moving due to the heavy subjects, one being DV and the other that is close to my heart. I say go and see it and enjoy the movie that I think was well done after reading the book. Now the PR train wreck is another story and I hope it does not dissuade the public from seeing the movie. I just think the movie was that good.

It feels like the production team didn’t communicate on the direction they wanted the project to go…Colleen Hoover’s book was marketed as a romance novel, she romanticizes abuse in a lot of her books. Did she sign over the rights, hoping Baldoni would turn it into a romcom…I also have never viewed Blake as a very in depth person, she maybe thought not addressing DV was the safe card as opposed to actually addressing the topic. They could have taken flowers in a totally different direction by delivering them to DV centers, or creating a flower pin you could purchase and wear for DV centers, Blake could of promoted her hair line saying a % of sales will be going to DV shelters, flowers seem like such a central theme of the movie, maybe ask DV survivors to share what gave them life after DV etc - I mean I’m sorry but Blake Lively doesn’t seem smart enough to do that…this actually could have been her movie to step up to that plate, but she missed the train. I felt like the wardrobe also could have been used to show what abuse was doing to her internally. I remember a night I went out with my bf and I got called “a Marilyn Monroe” 3x, my bf was so pissed off, and would say things like “are you going to dress like your slutty self today?” I never wanted to wear a dress again.

Yup!! So many missed opportunities to help talented unknowns! But it’s likely that Justin would not have gotten the money without a big star attached. Especially since he doesn’t have like long history of hits. He’s relatively unknown himself.

This is hilarious to me. I only know about this movie because it was promoted in the same time as Deadpool and i only saw Blake as the main star promoting his movie to the larger audience pool outside of the book readers. I honestly thought this was a girly, summer time , feel good movie from her promotion. At no point was DV mentioned, let alone mentioned as the focal point. So hair care line promotion together with Carry Bradshaw look, Oscar de a Renta flower dresses and jewerly, using her husband clout to include him in the movie and promo just seemed shallow but ultimately a rich lady doing her promo as many before her. How incredibly out of touch, i love catching up with this drama. I know that DV is serious in real life and i am sorry for the director who seems to be the only one who actualy cares about the topic, but i can't say i am surprised Blake and Colleen Hover are this shallow. How did Blake Lively even get connected to this film?

Why would you go and see a movie who’s director and co-actor on the movie who is Justin Baldoni is being bullied and his good reputation as an activist for this cause we call DV. I am very upset. This movie was his baby. They took over the movie changed parts of the script without the scriptwriter knowing was rewritten by Ryan Reynolds while writers strike was going on. Blake made a joke out of this movie and used it to promote her line of alcoholic beverage and her line of hair products including her hair and make up line. People stop going to see the movie.
@LizNeptune
@LizNeptune 6 күн бұрын
No, that’s not how it works. If people don’t go see the movie, Justin Baldoni may not get another chance to make another movie. We have to support mid-tier movies like this or else we are doomed to a life of Marvel/DC movies and remakes. Do you want that?! I don’t!!

@@LizNeptune I do. For me, it was a curious straight friend who helped me feel comfortable in my skin. I've known I'm gay since age 4. Was shunned and punished and neglected for being a flamboyant little boy. Being hurt for so long. By the time I was an adult, I felt like I did want to live anymore. I became friends with him at age 24. He's one of those straight guys who like attention. But nothing more. That's his gray line. He likes to flirt and like most straight guys he was touchy feely. He was the first guy to give me attention. I was so shut down and broken. But he was the first person to show a genuine interest in knowing me for me. He couldn't understand how I could be gay and a virgin. Everyday he would ask me questions about myself. The more attention he gave me, the more I opened up. I was abandoned by both of my parents. My dad left when I was 3. My mom stayed physically, but abandoned me emotionally. She didn't teach me anything. Constantly compared me to my abusive dad. Told me when he left he should have took me with him. She pushed me off on anyone she could find to push me off on. As a child, I knew I wasn't loved. My mom tried to force me out of the house at age 14. Kick me out at 16. At 18 she and I got an appointment together, but she still wanted to control me and was still hitting me. My mom used to punch me and dare me to hit her back. I was 21, the last time my mom punched me. Having a curious straight friend saved my life. The affection I got from him was the first time anyone had shown me real affection. He and I would cuddle some times. He would open up and share personal things about himself as well. We had a bit of a bromance. So I will always support the curiosities of anyone. I'm now 40. Had I not met him. I don't think I would be here.

The aging up was problematic because in the movie she hasn’t seen Atlas since she was a teenager and then we’re having Lily run into Atlas for the first time 20 years later (due to Blake’s age of the character) and they are instantly having love feelings again? 20 years is a long AF time to harbor love for someone and fall right back into it. It’s hard to believe and super naive behavior for an adult her age lol. Whereas if she was in her 20s like in the book, the relationship with Atlas would have been way fresher in the mind and more believable for instantly feeling for him again.

Blake lively is a nepo baby she has no idea what it’s like to work for what you have and she prob considers that as hard times. She almost defends her character like it’s her. A) Sleeping with the Enemy staring Julia Roberts is a better film about DV. B) The ending of this is exactly the same as The Waitress where she tells her husband (who was abusive & controlling) she wants a divorce as she holds her baby. I'm not sure why no one has mentioned this yet. C)Blake seems to have made this all about promoting products rather than taking this opportunity to talk about something as serious as DV. And let's remember not all DV is committed by men, women also abuse their husband's & kids.

Too bad because the movie was actually pretty good. Justin's interviews were way better and more focused by a landslide considering the subject matter. Blake also came across cringe trying to be funny like Ryan in her interviews. She needs more media training.
