Absolutely fantastic <3 Please add a giant airbag that ejects with the driver or vehicle parachute too for safety in emergencies

I absolutely love these cyclorotors! I actually got a few ideas these in, not necessarily a flight application, but something similar.

I think people are forgetting how loud these vtol ships are… Imagine a bunch of these things flying around… The noise would drive you crazy… Little drones make noise imagine a bunch of these and other vtol ships flying around…. Not realistic… People are going to get upset and these companies will go bankrupt. They need to work on new propulsion systems… It’s time we have the propulsion system these UAP’s we see flying around everyday and night.

Realistically how far away is this from having production version flying car? 10 years or more?

The thing I wonder is have the done all the same tests in different weather patterns, wind conditions, temperature ranges, and topography. Because all this matters greatly in aeronautics. As well what about the fuel sources.

Good question. I'm sure they could simulate this in a controlled area. Like a room with winds and all that jazz.

If you guys want massive success, simply turn this idea into an actual flying car capable of carrying 4 or 5 people. Even if it flew just 1 to 2 feet off the ground that would be immense success and will send you investors faster than a piece of cake surrounded by ants.

Could the rotors ever support the weight while rolling on the ground, so it can fly and drive?

The rotors being so compact makes this look far more appealing as a manned vehicle compared to regular rotorcraft. It would be amazing to see a larger version of this for 1 or 2 people

Purely mechanical lift puts this aircraft in the same category as quadcopters and far behind helicopters in terms of safety; because under some circumstances helicopters can "auto rotate" aka glide. The number one safety rule for most of these "fantastic futuristic eVTOLs " is never ever lose power while flying.
@fromlasttofirst22

The future of flying cars is that they will hover. Not actually take off into the air like planes. Just a 1 to 2 foot hover is sufficient.
@someguydino6770
@someguydino6770 5 күн бұрын
@@fromlasttofirst22 Do you have any idea how much energy it takes to make something "hover" by forcing air downward? Then of course you need a 2nd power source to drive the craft forward; which takes even more energy. All sorts of "Hovercraft " have been around for 80+ years; so why do you reckon there aren't more of them? Go study how wings work and try to appreciate the fact that they are the most efficient and practical type of lifting system in a fluid.

@someguydino6770 But this craft is easily hovering so I don't get what you mean?
@someguydino6770

@@fromlasttofirst22 The cyclocopter "hovers" by "throwing air downward" ; these types of systems function at very low efficiency. This means that its operation relies on Newton's Third Law of Motion . There is now way to make it practical; sorry...perhaps study the Triton UAV and see if you can figure out why it can stay aloft for so long on a single tank of fuel?

There are many situations in which autorotation won't work. quad(or more)-copters can be made far more redundant than single rotor heilcopters. They are also much less complicated. So they can actually be much safer once they are developed. There was a helicopter accident here in norway some years ago where a helicopter crashed. The gearbox jammed and the main rotor litterally sheared off. Fell like a brick and, tragically, everyone was killed.

I guess if you cant win on efficiency over normal props, then you need to focus on other USP, like cool factor. or decoupling attitude from flightpath.

If you guys need funds you just need to make a RC version and sell it. Or maybe you can't do it because it won't be under 250 grams due to the less efficient propulsion?

@ yes it would take longer than usual but not this long, this technology isn’t new I suspect they either don’t have enough money or not enough bold engineers. That prototype I could build it from scratch in my shed in 6 months but they been at it for many years, I remember over 10 years ago a company was working on the same exact concept.

I see your design for the middle rotor- besides the design for lateral parts. Is it possible to have just a rear 90 degree rotor, and just use flaps that take/push out Some of the air?

Excellent! My question is- what about reliability over the long-term? Do you guys use combustion, or is everything just batteries? What about fuel cells? What about duration? Do you think it’s possible to accommodate 4 people, or have the cockpit like a car and have more than a few hours of flight time?

There's not much leapfrogging left to do. These designs have been around for decades, just waiting around for materials, batteries, and electronics to get stronger and lighter. I built my first prototype in the 80s out of balsa wood and kevlar thread. I'm so excited to see how far things have come.

I have to admit, to me - it gives the impression of many of the fancy early airplane prototypes. Where innovators had gone at length in a certain design direction - and against conventions. I am not an expert or engineer, but I seriously doubt this propulsion design will be standard. Rotors in some sort of gyro suspension just seems more logical, safe abd with better maneuverability.
