Nice video! I did this hike and it was intense. I am from Texas and it was my first time hiking the Superstition Mountains. The views were breathtaking and took plenty of nice pictures. I got lost on the way down and panicked for a brief moment. I had to return back up to try to find the way down. My mistake was never looking back as I was climbing up, so I never had a mental picture of what the way down looked like. Fortunately, I saw a couple going down at a distance and I followed them to find my way back.

I have hiked up to Browns peak in the past, but on this trip I did not because it was still too cold for my tastes. Before it gets too warm I would like to add this to my completed hike videos though.

It was I believe a $36 million deal to completely fix it for use for all vehicles, but they're going to spend $4 million now to at least open it for off-road vehicles to have access through. Which makes me happy because I have a Jeep that's getting fixed this week and it's needs to get dirty. It'll be a little while for the trail to reopen, but I'm glad to hear that it is reopening. But when Ducey was in charge I believe he said that if he reopened it it would be paved, so I hope that's not what the other 30 million deal is doing. I don't know if that's enough to widen fish Creek Hill to make it two lanes though or if it would still have to be one, if it was paved. But it looks much better going through the mountains as a dirt road.

@@InkedDragonAdventuring yeah makes no sense about the road closure imo I think there's more to it like the Woodberry fire and other slides exposed some things they may have missed long ago . I believe their to be underground government facilities out there to keep tabs on things as long ago when Roosevelt was prez and they built the dams they also covered up some things just like how there's areas of the Grand canyon that are off limits locked down like area 51. due to the Egyptian things they found there Kinkade cave ECT. Also the timing of Apache lake resort closing up during lotta that window in the beginning is suspect as well play in to it. I was a maintenance tech at Canyon lake always out there and seen lotta infrastructure being put out there as well as some other weird shit prefer not to speak of on here. But yeah A bulldozer could easily push all that stuff over and we're back in business right after it happened but nope. I did a survey of my own a while ago the substrate is solid as you also seen. Just risk of future slides which has always been the case there and part of its history. But that's my opinion on why they dragging their feet. Funny thing last time I was there visiting my old coworkers 3 tour buses of Chinese men 18 to 28 no girls kids or elderly somthin def a miss out there.

Plus almost forgot this sorry for the rant. The road next to the sky bridge on the Roosevelt side ya use to gain access also had a closure was a section of the rock wall that had looked to be intentionally blown up to block access from the east and the only way in was that gated government community sitting on the edge of the lake basically under sky bridge and they were using that old road that came out into the vista area parking lot between the damn and sky bride to bypass the slide so only they could access it and again it looked man made to me. They hiding shit 💯%

Like I said in my caption, when I went there was only a "road closed" sign and now there's also a "no trespassing" sign now. I do not encourage it, so you go at your own risk. I'm just glad to hear that it's going to be opening back up again because I have an off-road vehicle to utilize it, until it opens up to more traffic when they fix it completely.

I was so heartbroken when I found out that they weren't going to open it back up. I been doing this drive since the mid 60's and is my favorite drive. It was also fun to drive across the dam before they put the bridge over Roosevelt lake. I grew up here and you would have loved it here in the 60's and 70's. There weren't that many people here. I hope that they haven't closed it because I want hike it see what happened also. Great video

There's good news with it. It was just recently reported that it's going to be opening back up for off-road vehicles only. I believe it was $36 million to get it fixed for all vehicles but they went with the $4 million plan that would fix it enough for off-road vehicles to make their way through, for now.

It's my favorite hike in the Superstions, but I definitely wasn't in shape enough to do it. Sat around for too many weeks prior to doing it so had some issues with my knees on the way out. But still can't wait to do it again, maybe come springtime. Gotta get in R2R2R in there somewhere too. Only went to ribbon falls and back last time, but that's what I went there to do earlier this year.

@@naturallytrailheaded when you're going up North Kaibab Trail or coming down it, ribbon falls is on the west side. It's not a far hike, you just have to pass over I believe that's Bright Angel Creek to get to lower ribbon falls. You can climb up around behind it, and I have heard rumors there is another path around there that goes about another mile and a half in to another waterfall. But ribbon falls is I believe less than a mile in from north Kaibab, I have a video of that on my channel

Didn't look like it was a very traveled trail, or route. I didn't see anyone on the way in or out. Looked like it kept going down the canyon past the cave, but I started running low on daylight and didn't have my headlamp.

Definitely didn't want to get caught up there, where I was, after dark. I didn't have any camping gear or anything with me. I do want to do the Ridgeline hike again though and camp at the other end, at the peak, then come back the next day. The Superstions hold some of my favorite hikes.
